  1. And nobody is making such a claim either. But there have been conducted experiments that shows that humans MOST LIKELY have something to do with it. Focus on the links I posted earlier. No reference to Al Gore there. Nevermind "crappy analogies", just read the articles. source please.. So you don't believe that pollution can cause global change? Do you disagree that the ozone layer has diminished as a result of pollution? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_layer#Ozone_depletion
  2. http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=21429&Cr=climate&Cr1=change Nobody is claiming that it's a fact. It's just an overwhelmingly large chance that it is. Would you bet against these odds, when the stakes are as high as they are? Which have been shown time and time again. In this thread, for example. I believe that the UN is quite independent in this matter. If you have reason to think otherwise, do enlighten me.
  3. His opinion counts no more than yours or mine. To the best of my knowledge none of us are atmospheric scientists, so it all comes down to "my scientist can beat up your scientist". I didn't ask for a scientifically based opinion, more a "which scientists do you trust" opinion. That was part of my point in my original post for rushmc.
  4. Instead of replying to everything with a oneliner, with no other content than an attempt to ridicule other posters, why don't you state your own opinion on the matter? In one post, to which I replied, you asked for proof.. Then you go on to ignore my reply, and post more of your oneliners... So again, what is YOUR opinion?
  5. I hope you are joking! Seriously, this is some funny shit Instead of making worthless posts like this, why don't you reply to my post to you? You asked for proof, and I posted links to an article and a site that would explain it all. The point sv3n is making is that you can't expect that pouring poison into the sea and into the atmosphere is not going to have any negative effect on the environment. Trying to ridicule that, will backfire... It is quite simple logics.
  6. http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2007/09/fly-me-to-moon.html They indeed did the stupid moon thing. And I agree with the original poster...
  7. Of course, given that it doesn't taste like crap There's a chance it will, though...
  8. Either your reply was meant for someone else, or you're completely missing my point.
  9. I would, but definately not as often...
  10. haha.. Having read halfway through, I thought I'd ironically reply something like "...and now they probably need therapy", but then: Haha. I don't know what to say. This is too stupid
  11. http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=21429&Cr=climate&Cr1=change http://www.ipcc.ch/about/faq.htm It comes down to wether you trust the UN scientists, or those sponsored by Exxon et. al. It's all about credibility of a source. Scientists have proved that McDonalds food is good for you. Said scientists were sponsored by McDonalds. Using this analogy, what you're asking for, is that every other scientist has to disprove each such report, or else you'll "have no proof" that such fastfood is bad for you. Or is it that "Evidence is now 'unequivocal' that humans are causing global warming - UN report" does not sound convincing enough? The probability is estimated to 90% that there is a man-made global warming. If you want to bet against those odds, I wouldn't take up gambling, if I were you. And believe me, the stakes are high. edit reason: typo..
  12. There's a world outside of the US, and trust me, there wasn't widespread consensus.. "Evidence" fabricated in secrecy, as opposed to that of global warming. Using the war analogy, the evidence points to that "we cannot take the chance to not put up an adequate DEFENCE". Reducing pollution causing global warming (or not) is GOOD EITHER WAY. It means STOPPING a radical human-caused global change, rather than initiating one (as you're trying to make it sound like with your offensive war analogy). ...And that's as far as I'll play along on your comparison between global warming and the Iraq war.
  13. You're smarter than you look..
  14. Well, I know that some quite smart people frequent these forums, so since I can't find my answers anywhere else, here goes... An NiMH cell is 1.2 V, and according to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_metal_hydride_battery), the charging voltage is 1.4-1.6 V. I need to charge a batterypack made up of 3 cells in series, and two such triplets in paralell (so, 3x2 batteries in total). I'm not sure about the mAh of the batteries, but let's say 1000. That gives my batterypack 3.6V, 2000mAh. To slowcharge (my preferred method, since it is the simplest), I charge at C/10 = 200mAh, but what voltage? Would that be 3.6+margin (0.2-0.4), or (1.4*3)-(1.6*3) ? Is what I'm trying to do even possible? See any other problems with this? I decided to make myself an underwater flashlight, for freediving, so now you know what I need this for...
  15. If you want to compare with religion, it's the "there's no human-caused global warming" people that are the religious ones. Science vs. religion, you know. ...and don't read to much into that article. norwegians aren't taking it seriously either.
  16. I read that one a while ago, and considered mentioning it here under the title "Why americans seems completely nuts, from a european point of view" ... or something like that. Well.
  17. I suppose he has narcissistic personality disorder... * Requires excessive praise and admiration - Check * Takes advantage of others - Check * Grandiose sense of self-importance - Check * Lack of empathy - Check (think starving kids in africa..) * Lying, to self and others - Via his fanclub; Check * Obsessed with fantasies of fame, power, or beauty - Check It all seems quite clear to me. He seems to be somewhat histrionic as well: * Needs to be the center of attention - Check (first commandement, anyone?) * Dresses or acts provocatively - Only really acted in the first testament, but that was somewhat provocatively, I'd say... * Rapidly-shifting and shallow emotions - Not rapidly, but he sure changed alot when he became a father * Exaggerates friendships - Don't know about that one * Overly-dramatic, occassionally theatrical speech easily influenced; highly suggestible - theatrical speech for sure!
  18. Skydiver: You do a mr. bill and saves the day... :)
  19. You can open it with just about anything.. lighters are very easy, though, and i am quite shocked to realize that this many skydivers can't do that! I also like to open the beer with the case i took the beer from.. :) or a coin.. haven't tried teeth, although im sure it's not so hard to do - it just damages the teeth a bit too much :) Oh, and cellphones are good too. Or other bottles of beer.
  20. "I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world" - bush priceless!
  21. in the norwegian version of the article, it says he had a 180.
  22. If you (as in americans) would do that, it would be great.. your tax dollars funds the israeli army after all..
  23. So who is "right" is determined by who suffers the most casualties? You are trying to portray the conflict as a balanced one, or even that the palestinians are the aggressors. This is very far from the truth. These numbers are just an illustration of this.
  24. http://journalism.berkeley.edu/projects/arccrisis/ispal-casualty.html 1538 vs. 319. Why do you call it "terrorism" when a Palestinian does it in a suicide attack, and "a military operation" when an Israeli fighterplane does it? The latter is also way more effective at killing, obviously. What do you fight with when you have no weapons? When israeli buldosers have destroyed your house and everything you had? When your familymembers are dying in israeli attacks, or as a consequence of the destruction of your posessions and thus source for income/food? http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3415479,00.html $2.4 billion dollar aid to a country that is not at all poor? In my opinion, the USA funds some of the worst terrorism there is.
