well, if there was anything at all memorable about the jump, i write it... one of my latest was "Nothing cures a hangover like free fall". :)

well yes, its gay alright. See.... I got my first rig not so long ago. Didn't care much about the color of the parachute. Lets just put it this way: on the videos, they cut out whatever music is there when my parachute is in the view, and play YMCA instead. Every time. BUT I FLY IT WITH PRIDE! :) (I'm really taking alot of joking on that parachute. But the girls says its pretty)

say, does anyone know which song is played in the first one? :)

heh. time's 6 am here, couldn't sleep any more. (no, this wasn't a nightmare i woke up from, but anyway)... I was tracking, watching the ground come closer.. Looked at my altimeter, but all I had was a clock, that showed 3:00 .. I somehow interpreted this that I still had time .. Waited a bit longer, then pulled. At that time, the groundrush was getting intense. So I look up, and it just keeps sniveling, I look down, ground approaches faster and faster.. I almost had my hand on the cutaway handle when it opened. Then I landed out, and was wondering how to get back to the dropzone. I've had the hit-the-ground-and-walk-away dream once too, and another time I was in freefall, tried to pull but I couldn't find the handle... So I went for the cutaway handle, and tried to pull it, but couldn't... pulled and pulled, it veeeeery slowly began to give. Then I eventually got it... there's my dreamstories. :)

Why we are in Iraq.........or one of 5000 reasons
Loonix replied to freeflir29's topic in Speakers Corner
what, just to REALLY fuck things up? The US went in there for no good reason, but that is past now. At least have the decency to fix the mess that is created, or hell will break loose, with husseins regime looking like a playground in comparison. -
Why we are in Iraq.........or one of 5000 reasons
Loonix replied to freeflir29's topic in Speakers Corner
your childish reply tells me one thing: you have no real arguments left... to everyone who is whining about uncalled for america-bashing, the attitude of freeflir29 is THE reason for it. It really fires up under the ignorant and arrogant american stereotype. "its easy, just stop having sex", "they are too dumb and beyond help", "we are trying to make these pigs survive on their own" .... get the drift? It is as if a certain someone has seen too many hollywood movies, where the good guys are all good, and the bad guys are all bad (and speak bad english) -
about comparisons to skydiving/basejumping ... lets say its like skydiving, only you'r more or less wasted while doing it :) (fatality rates in these sports are quite similar afaik, so its comparable either way).. some say you get used to depth narcosis, which is bullshit. you get used to swimming around, sure, but the minute you get into trouble, your mind is gone. BUT im not saying its bad.. :) just that its crazy. crazy has a tendency of being fun...

Why we are in Iraq.........or one of 5000 reasons
Loonix replied to freeflir29's topic in Speakers Corner
The reason you are there, is to stop the iraqi WMD program. Some ranting about al qaida/bin laden hiding there were also mentioned in the early stages of preperation/propaganda, if im not mistaken. This was all of course bullshit, as Hans Blix of the UN said already before the war. Now, this doesn't mean the war isnt justifyable, it just proves incompetence of the US government. So, you say that by america being there, less people are killed than with saddam hussein as the dictator. Then let me ask you this: WHY IRAQ?! if saving people is what you want, go to friggin' africa. Stop starvation, poverty all around the globe. With the money spent on the war, you could do incredibly much good. Why don't you? If "doing good" to people is all you care about, how about letting african countries purchase AIDS medicines at affordable prices? That is not being done now because the big companies are earning too much money. Can't see how the government should be unable to fix that. This is just one example... Could it be that this war is most of all about politics? Lets mention afghanistan while we're at it... How much control does US forces have there at the moment? How about close to none? Some control over Kabul is pretty much all that remains. But it is all about Iraq now. It'll be "fun" to see what happens in Iraq when US forces finally move out, and goes to Iran or North Korea (or wherever..). At last I'd like to say that the US better STAY in iraq for a while now. What is done, is done, and if they move out, hell will break loose. edit: a couple of spelling errors.. -
need help finding a gross/scary picture of a boob
Loonix replied to Anvilbrother's topic in The Bonfire
i've seen that one before. it is THE worst thing I have EVER seen. And I've surfed rotten.com, seeing people who died in the tub, and stayed there for couple of months, and the likes... but that picture right there tops them all. I can't get it out of my head.... -
Which is more dangerous: Rock Climbing or Skydiving?
Loonix replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
there's people out there who do bigwall freesoloing?! crazy people. How do you define bigwall, by the way? -
yes, very nicely put. Makes me wonder if I'll ever be the guy with 5000 jumps... I think I may like adrenaline too much.. Then again, I see no reason at all to quit jumping now, in fact I get withdrawal symptoms if I didnt jump for a week.. :) And these days I've been thinking that "damn, this only gets better".. oh well. just babbling :)

lol! that one reminds me of something we did at a boogie not so long ago.. we had been drinking at our cabin, and was then going to the party. This is at the 3-4 beer state. There were 6-7 of us, we carried 2 cases of beer, + some bags with us.. We could (in theory) just follow the shore to get there, so we did. It turned into rock climbing. I wish we had it on tape, there we were, half drunk skydivers (we took several drinking-pauses, both to gain courage for the climbs, and loose weight in the baggage), carrying cases of beer, singing, climbing on slippery rock just by the water, total darkness and no warmth to speak of (norway, not during summer)... Only one fell in the water, but that was early on, and with an easy return to a waiting taxi... On the hardest part, I (with some climbing experience) was helping the beer across.. so im hanging mostly by my fingers, there wasnt much grip for my feet, one guy hands me the case, i get it with one hang, support it on my knee, switch hands, and pass it to the guy on the other side. Damn, it was fun. It's just like they say, skydiving is mostly dangerous after the last load has landed. yes, i set one of the cases at the party. It was meant for my A license, but that trip was worthy a case.

Which is more dangerous: Rock Climbing or Skydiving?
Loonix replied to lewmonst's topic in The Bonfire
i do both, and vote for skydiving. I got several scars from climbing, but when you fall there, the worst case scenario is usually a 5 meter fall. And if your last anchor fails, say 10 meters. It is survivable. Terminal impact is not (nor is hookturning into the ground). -
I don't think that is right.. I've met far more adrenaline junkies in skydiving. Not so many who has many jumps, though, except those who are also BASE jumpers.
-
ok, here it is. i have no idea whatsoever about the correctness of this, but: Scuba Diving : 1 in 200,000 dives Rock climbing : 1 in 320,000 climbs don't know for skydiving, but isnt that around 1:100,000? anyway, i would take this with a large grain of salt...
-
well, it also have the most participants, if im not mistaken :) im going to google a bit, see what i can come up with..
-
are you serious? scubadiving is more lethal than skydiving and rock climbing? do you have a link to some info there? I'm curious, I do all three.. I'd say it depends 100% on yourself in all three, i think you can do all very safe, or very dangerous... edit to add: i fully agree with you about climbing vs. jumping

skydiving rockclimbers are the coolest. if they scubadive too, its even better. (brag). :) in skydiving the risk works like this: you live, or you die (for a beginner, anyway). In climbing, you risk beating yourself badly all the time (2 meters above last anchor, fall, thats 4m + slack, say 5 meters, and you hit rock). If you skydive and are seriously afraid to die, you quit. I have several scars from climbing, and none from skydiving so far :) Rock climbers are coolest, imo :) Indoor climbers (plastic climbing) does not count, however. That goes under the excersize category, along with jogging ;) About freesoloing, I hope I get the skills and mental capacity to do that in some years. Now I've only gone real easy places like that.

heh you've sure put some effort into this :)
