  2. Hey Brother, I am sorry that this happened to you. I know what you are going through...kinda. My divorce will be final in the next week. She made her mind up of that since I got here 6Apr03. I hope that everything goes better for you in the future. Remember you gotta keep on keepin on......Life's a garden, dig it!! All you gotta do is keep on bein a good person. When I see you, beers are on me! Josh The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  3. That was a pretty good video. In fact when it started I had to take the headphones off and check to make sure we werent getting mortared. We had incoming last night, scared the shit out of me. I think that we have some vids of the 155's shooting back. I really don't think that its a fair trade off though. THey shoot 60mm mortars and we beat the crap out of them with 155's. The Q-36 is cool, and has come in useful. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  4. I have related this story before, and I will probably several more times. This happened about 2 years ago to a friend of mine. I was on the load with him, and if he would have chopped he would be dead right now. After an uneventful 4 way, we broke at 4500'. I tracked and dumped at 3500' as we had planned. When I turned to count canopies, I saw my friend under a badly malfuntioning canopy. I was watching wondering why he hadn't cut away, a few seconds later the main pc cleared the ball of shit above his head, and his main deployed. What had happened was that on climbout his hackey got pushed deep into his ROL, and he couldn't get it out. After the 2 tries he went for silver. When his reserve deployed, it literally blew up. It lost 8 load bearing lines. This jumper was within the specs on this reserve. He was able to dig into the ROL, and extract the main PC. If he would have cut away he would be dead right now. He had between 50 and 100 jumps at the time. It is my opinion that if you dont have anything out do not cut away. That means hard pull, or like in this situation the disappearing hackey. If it isnt in the way, you dont need to cut it away. just my $.02 The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  5. Sending out {{{{{VIBES}}}} to you and your Mom. I hope everything works out for you. Josh The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  6. When I am not deployed I am used to running at least 4 miles 3-4 times per week. Make sure that you stretch before you run, start out at a slow pace to loosen up. When you start you should train at target heart rate for a minimum of 20 minutes per exercise session. Shoes are important as others have said. You should replace your shoes every 500 miles or 6 months. DONT wear your running shoes to walk around in, it will ruin them. Finish up with a good sprint to peak out your heart rate. It takes me about 28-30 minutes to complete 4 miles. That isnt great, but I am training for the Army's PT test which is 2 miles. I can run 2 miles in 13 mins or less. The pain will go away in about a week if you keep at it. It takes 6 weeks to get into shape and 2 weeks to lose it. Have fun with it, and good luck. PM if you want other hints. heart rate calculator The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  7. My Dad's last jump was in 1982. I am going to try to get him back in the sky here in the next few years. I would love to jump with him. I can't wait until my son is old enough!! Very Cool, and congrats!! The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

    kia?

In between my first and second tours in the Army I worked as a car salesman, and manager. The lines that I worked with were Nissan, Jeep, Saturn, GM lines, and everything used. The Kia is not a bad car so to speak, just not as good of a car as some of the others available. I have driven several of them, and after a couple of miles on them they feel more like empty pop can driving down the road. There are other cars on the market that are more reliable, better designed, and in the same neighborhood as far as price. I have been comparing online by price and options, since I dont know what model you are looking at I will just use the basic 4 door model. A/C, automatic trans,Cd player, and floor mats are the only options added. KIA Spectra: 14,710 KIASpectra Saturn ION:13,305 SaturnION Toyota Echo:13,300 Toyotaecho Nissan Sentra:14,130 NissanSentra I also compared several other models on edmunds vehicle comparison It appears that all have the same O% financing options. They are fairly comparable in price. IMO I would go with something along the lines of a Toyota or Nissan. But that is my opinion. PM if you would like me to hook you up with a sales manager for any of the models listed. josh The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  9. I have 2 screws in my right fib from a training accident in the Army. It has not hindered me one bit as far as skydiving. I did lose quite a bit of range of motion on that ankle. The only thing that suffers is my running, and I do that as little as possible, and it makes for cool x-rays. 10. Congrats on your A license. If you ever make it down to TX, I'll jump with you. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

  12. To all, thank you for the kind words. It definitely means a lot to all of us to know that you stand behind us. Merry Christmas!!!! Zenister- KP is inevitable out here. I am down at Brassfield/Mora not enough people for Brown and Root. The Battalion Commander will be serving chow though. BTW it was a good meal, the cooks out here are awesome. Shark- If I make it out to Elsinore I will take you up on that jump ticket, thanks. My home DZ is SD Temple-Salado, Texas. If any of you guys make it out that way after March drop in and make a jump!!! The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  13. I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to all of you out there in the real world. It really doesn't feel like Christmas out here, nobody really went out of thier way. I gave my troops the day off so that they could enjoy some time to themselves, which means that I get to spend 24 hours on duty. The chow hall is serving up a killer meal at about noon today...it should be good. I hope that your holiday is better than mine!!! Merry Christmas!!! 14. My life this year has been a good one. I managed to get in about 50 jumps before coming to Iraq. I have learned a lot this year, and grown up a bit. But, between divorce, deployment, and not being home for the holidays I have managed to have a good time. I can't wait to get home and make some more jumps!! The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  15. Mr Garrison:Eric how would you like to go see the school counselor? Cartman: How would you like to lick my balls? Mr Garrison: What did you say?!!! Cartman: What I said was How would you like to lick my balls....Mr. Garrison??!!! That is by far the funniest South Park scene ever.... 16. The best concert was Eric Clapton nothin' but the Blues tour. I think it wa 94'. Jimmy Vaugn opened for him. Then Eric Clapton played probably 30 different guitars throughout the night. I am very partial to blues, so this was an amazing concert. 2nd Best Joe Cocker's tour in 1995. He played the best of his oldies, and all the tacks from his new disc I loved it, great energy, and this guy played Woodstock 69'. 17. What piece do you carry when you go jogging? My CC piece is a springfield arms .45 ultra compact...hardly small enough to take jogging. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  18. I have an older Gateway Solo 9550, which was top of the line when it came out. Overall it has been a good computer, and has survived almost a year in Iraq. I have had a few problems with it, bad HD, 2 bad batteries, and now the screen has lines in(what is that btw?). Alienware supposedly has the best computers on the market if you are into gaming. They are way more than any normal person will ever use by just checking email. One of my troops just bought a dell and got a heck of a deal on it. I know that in the future that I wont buy another Gateway b/c of issues that I had with thier customer service. But thier computer isnt too bad. Hope this helps. 19. Hey all, I am just bored in Iraq. See if this a better copy of the picture. I cant beleive that somone would do this to you!! The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  20. Hey I just want to add a little info to the situation. I wasn't downtown, but I am in Samarra, Iraq with the same Task Force as this combat leader. For Operational Security reasons, I cannot go into the exact happenings. I know of what happened, hearing it firsthand from the soldiers who were there. I know that it was a coordinated attack by unfriendly personnel. It was literally the gunfight in the O.K. Corral. From what I have heard, 54 is a light count btw. And the soldiers here have very liberal use of the phones and internet. I am the one that makes sure of that. josh The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  21. would you feel the same way if this event had happened in the United States? Terrorists are exactly what thier name implies, people trying to impose terror. Any association should be considered an act of aggression against the US. My opinion my be a litte skewed because I watched as soldiers of the US died because of some terrorists. just my $.02 The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
  22. My biggest fear is not being able to make another jump. For whatever reason I fear being stuck on the ground while everyone else is getting to play in the sky. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.
