My favorite sauce of all time is Kraft 1000 island dressing. You can put it on just about anything and instantly transform it into a work of art. I love 1000 island on burgers, baked potatoes, celery, brocoli, steaks, cheese, oh yea and salads from time to time. Rach dressing is a close second. But, the most perfect topping that is available for anything is Pace picante sauce. The thick and chuncky stuff. I love it......Now, where is my food?? Littledebbie, I think that this is a great idea, and I wisht that someone would have had this idea a year ago when we got here. However just so you know, there is a dynamic network set up here in Iraq so that all soldiers have the opportunity to call home. Each base camp has received and installed an "internet cafe" which has the capability of supporting 20 computers and several VOIP phones. That is the main form of communication home for many of the soldiers here in Iraq. The bigger base camps have several "internet cafes" and the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation installations are ever improving. The larger base camps also have AT&T phone centers. Your friend would be better off spending the money on Phone cards through either Segovia or AT&T. We are talking back to the States right now for as low as $.05/min. This is a much more cost effective way of talking back to the states than spending a dollar a minute on satellite phones. Another idea for is that the satellite phones that are in use over here are contracted out at $.35/min. You might want to have them look at a different provider. Another form of communication over here is through the robust tactical network. You can call the states for free, and if there is a DSN operator close to where you are calling the call is completely free. There are drawbacks to using this. It sometimes takes a while to get through on the Tactical phones. I have dialed non-stop for up to an hour before getting through, and then got cut off right after getting through. But it is something that we have learned to deal with. The network is ever improving, and quality of life is improving. Another idea is to give your friend several prepaid phone cards (if no DSN operator is in the vicinity of the phone call to be placed). You can call any DSN operator stateside and have them put you in touch with the prepaid phone 800 number. This will get you minute-for-minute (unit) value out of prepaid cards. I use a prepaid (rechargable) AT&T card that I bought through the PX. It costs me $80 to get 1000 units on the card. That is 16.67 hours of talk time, if you can't call home for free. The Segovia VOIP phones are cheaper than that. I think they go for $.039/min. If the 81st really wanted to help out its soldiers they would set up a 24 hour DSN number that soldiers in Iraq could call and be connected straight to their house. Then it is free for the soldiers. The chain of command has the authority to request this, and they should be able to get it. There are also nationwide operators that will connect soldiers to anywhere in the US. PM me if you would like more info. I know that your friend will appreciate all that you are doing for him. This isn't meant to rain on your parade, just to let you know that there are more options out there than just Satellite phones. I have a lot of problems with my sinuses and skydiving. I used to get at least 1 sinus infection a month due to riding in unpressurized aircraft. I have been on all kinds of meds to try to clear things up. One of the best things that I did was quit smoking. I havent made a jump snce I quit, but I haven't had a sinus infection either. I went through all the steps(thank god for army doctors and their steps) to get surgery. But I ended up in Iraq. I still have to take the meds in order to be able to breath, but it is much better. I am looking forward to getting the surgery. Easy remedies are sudafed and afrin. Use it on days that you are congested and it will reduce sinus probs when you jump. Brother you have no idea how disticnt that sound is. Other distinct sounds that I now have ability to describe are RPGs(yes it was fired at me). It hit about 25-35 feet from me while sleeping. Imagine waking up to that....WHAT THE FU#& WAS THAT??!!! Other fun things that go bump in the night are mortars, land mines, and IED's. And yes I have experienced all of those. Sound like fun? see your local Army Recruiter. All expenses paid vacation to Iraq, for a whole year. Bring your sunscreen and IBAS. It is fun for all. josh The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

Kinda being selective there aren't you if you want to say Clinton is responsible for Saddam and ignore Bush (41) and his failure to remove him from power during Desert Storm (the first gulf war).Quote That is why I said "some one". I think that we should have taken him out during Desert Storm. Unfortunatley we couldnt due to the restrictions by the UN. Our only mission over there was to remove Iraq's occupying force from Kuwait. The same Argument can be used for the Clinton administration. They didnt have the international backing therefore they never made a big deal about it. I think that Desert Fox was another good opportunity that was passed up. (We can start another thread to discuss the politics behind the Clinton administration, and the GHWB administration). You said that you believed that there was WMD in Iraq. Belief is enough reasoning to forcibly enter a citizen's home in the US with a search warrant. The police have to show enough evidence to a judge for him to believe that they need to enter the home. I think that logic is fair in this situation as well. THere was enough evidence to say that there was a large amount of WMD's. Therefore there was enough evidence to forcibly come in and look for those WMD. The imminent attack danger is always there. It doesnt matter what country that we invade, what foriegn policy we assume. There will always be fanatics out there that are foes to liberty. We have the ability, and IMO the right to defend ourselves against these fanatics, don't you? Another thing that I would like to point out is that we arent fighting a "respectabe" enemy like we did during WWI, WWII...etc. The people that we are fighting will do anything for their cause to include give up their lives. We, the Americans dont share that view. Some give their lives, but that is not the intent. When that intent is out there, there is no safe area anywhere in the world. Because the enemy is more motivated, dedicated, and willing. They will go to any extreme means to follow through with their intentions. We have seen it time and time again over here. Just like yesterday with the car bombing in Samarra. (I know the 3 service men who were wounded in that blast) We can say that by doing nothing that the world is a safer place, or that the USA is a safer place. We can implement all of the defense techniques that we can back in the states, but it will not help. The best thing that we can do is bring the fight to our enemy, and root them out from the very holes that they hide in. They are not worthy of diplomacy. They would not give us the same respect. They are vermin, and they will kill any who they need to accomplish their mission. Do you have to dedication to the cause to fly a plane into a building and kill thousands of innocents? These people do, and they should be dealt with. IMO opinion we shouldn't just stop with Iraq. There are more terrorists out there. BTW, I know for a fact that AL Quaida is operating cells out of Iraq. Doesnt that qualify as harboring terrorists? -Guns are good. -I learned to shoot a ruger 10/22 at the age of 5 years old. -On the civilian side of training, several markmanship/gun safety courses. Owned a BB gun from the age of 8. -Qualified expert on the M16A2 twice yearly for 6 years on active duty. -Qualified expert on the M9 9mm, fired the M-249 SAW, The M2 .50 machine gun, and the M-60 machine gun. I have literally shot tens of thousands of rounds both in the military and the civilian sector. I feel that Gun Control advocates are acting on fear. Because through proper training and use the gun is nothing more than a tool. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

Unfair???!!! Let's get off of the Bush bashing if we are going to agree that some one before GWB had done the job properly we wouldn't be in Iraq. I think that it is ridiculous to expect that we are going to come out of this smelling like roses. The job at hand was to remove Saddam Hussein from power, that was done. That HAS made the world a safer place. My question for you is did any of you believe that there werent WMD here in Iraq before we invaded? I would like to point out, that WMD was the reason that we were able to go into Iraq. The reason for removing Saddam was for national security. If that makes any sense. We had a big reason to be here, and WMD opened the door. Just like in the US we have to have some type of reason to have a judge issue a search warrant, or arrest warrant. Obviously the people that we elected (congress and the pres) thought that there was enough evidence to issue the "search warrant"....We didn't find any, but did we have a good reason to look? Another thing is that the pres wasn't acting alone. There are 100 senators and ??? in the house. That means that through our use of democratic methodology, the majority of these elected reps said to go into Iraq. Think about that when you try to place blame. If I am correct, the majority of the US elected the reps, and the reps used their authority to make decisions. That means that the reps had the impression that the majority of US citizens wanted to invade Iraq for the purpose of national security. Correct me if I am wrong. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

QuoteLet's remember that questioning the Commander in Chief is a perogative of any citizen of a democracy. Quote You are most certainly correct, and in my haste to type the response I meant to say this:If you feel that you can forsake their sacrafice for their country by questioning their commitment to the commander in chief you are a sad individual indeed. Sorry for the incorrect wording. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

How dare you question the patriotism of my brothers in arms. I have been in Iraq since Apr of 2003. I have been shot at, mortared, RPG'd, mined, and IED'd. I have seen people die for their country, I have seen people permanently damaged for their country. If you feel that you can forsake their sacrafice for their country by questioning our commander in chief you are a sad individual indeed. You only have rights to speak out against the president because of the sacrafice that these soldiers have made. I find it distasteful that you would even suggest that these soldiers would not support their commander in chief. You obviously have no idea what patriotism is, and you have never served your county. btw, I voted for GWB, I will vote for him again. SGT Joshua K. Quade, I can understand how this correlation can be made. This is a good point. The fact is, that it is impossible to determine the exact reason that crime fell in the time period. According to the DOJ website it says that there were so many people declined firearms purchases between 1994-1998. Is there a direct correlation in the number of people declined and the number of crimes that werent commited? http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/pdf/phc98.pdf This truly shows the breakdown. It does show that there was some illegal gun buyers thwarted by the brady bill. It is effective by not allowing the 2.9% of all background checks to buy a gun that shouldn't have been allowed to purchase a gun anyway. But does it effectively control gun crime? I don't believe so. Would you enforce everyone to get a background check before buying a knife, baseball bat, or any other dangerous item if it reduced the number that could potentially get into the wrong hands to 2.9%? I don't think you would. What you have failed to do is show me that these people that were declined on the background check going on to commit any crime. Lets get that statistic. That would prove or disprove your theory that there is a direct relationship that the Brady Bill reduces crime. There is no background check on a stolen or illegally purchased firearm. Maybe we shouldn't call the general public guilty until proven innocent in the case that it stops 2.9% of the people submitting to a background check from purchasing a firearm that they will acquire through other means anyway. I know that this will offend the liberals out there, but why don't we just enforce the laws that are on the books? Why dont we use the death penalty? Wouldn't that reduce crime effectively? http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/ascii/woofcccj.txt I would like to point out that there are more legal self-defense uses of firearms than people trying to purchase them illegally. Therefore the benefit outweighs the risk. There are approximately 82,500 self-defense uses of firearms every year. There are approximately 69,000 or 2.9% failed attempts to purchase firearms annually. After all that what do you think has reduced crime? the 82,500 people using firearms to defend themselves, or the 69,000 people that were rejected through the Brady Bill? One last question, what is the margin of error on these statistics? The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

John, Something that I have started to realize about the anti-gunners is that they will never get the point. It isn't about need. It is about desire. It is also about the spirit of freedom. For example I have no desire to own a motorcycle, they are dangerous. There is a great possibility that people will get hurt or killed by owning motorcycles. But we allow that to continue....why? because the desire of the people. The spirit of freedom. I could say that we should ban motorcycles, that would make the streets safer wouldn't it? Not really, those people that would have been riding motorcycles are now driving around in cars. They are still a danger to the innocent bystander. This argument could be used either for or against anything. But the bottom line is that by responsible use of firearms by EVERYBODY there would be no crime......why? well there would be no criminals(ok pretty far out there, but go along with me for a second). Problem is that it doesn't matter what you do as far as laws, the people out there that have no regard for them won't follow them anyway. To get to the spirit of Freedom. It was brought up earlier that we should worry about everyone's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I agree with that statement, however it doesn't make sense that by limiting my rights, you(the anti-gunner) are being concerned with my right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. IMO I think that it is naive to even think that by banning guns we will be a safer society. There will always be those out there that are willing to circumvent the laws if the land in order to pursue their agenda. That means that if we ban guns, the only people that will have guns are the ones that wouldn't follow the law in the first place. Can someone explain how this is an incorrect statement? I didnt think so. Another point that was brought up was paranoia(I dont know if it was this thread or not). I want to point out that in a situation where you are faced with a loaded gun, all the laws of the land are out the window. You will revert back to the most basic law: instinct, fight or flight. Now, I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Would you drive without putting on your seatbelt? I have been in 2 wrecks, one was my fault....ok they were both my fault. But that is beside the point. The police showed up to both, but I only got ticketed one time. The other time they did an exchange of info on official paperwork. That way the ins companies cant try to weasel out of paying. Most insurance companies will honor the policies with out a big hassle if there was minor damage. Another thing that you can do is contact your insurance company and let them know that you were in an accident. They will use thier legal experience to go to bat for you, saving you time and money. I know that not a lot of cars could suffer a 10-15 mph bump. Federal safety requirements are 5mph bumpers, most do not exceed that. So take the car to a mechanic and a body shop. The mechanic will tell you what is wrong, and the body shop will be able to find the smallest damage. If you have more questions PM me. josh The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise.

Wait until you can identify people by thier jumpsuits/containers/canopies in pictures. I look through parachutist and sometimes I see somone that I recognize......from the back. Another thing that cracks me up is when I go out on a friday night and go home early so that I can make to the DZ early on Saturday morning, my friends think that I am wierd. Right now Diet is good old fashioned Army food. Eggs/bacon for breakfast. MRE for lunch. Decent meal for dinner. MRE for another late evening meal. I am also using PROM3 protien blend 2 shakes a day. I just ordered up some more protien shakes, but I was wondering what every body else uses. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise. -
For the Body Builders/Weight Lifters out there.....
jkm2500 replied to jkm2500's topic in The Bonfire
I started lifting weights about 6 months ago. I have been hard after it in my off time. My question is to the established people out there. Do you use supplements? What do you use? And what are some tips to help with gaining a little more mass/strength. Right now I am pushing 200lbs (at 5'10"), my goal is 210-220. I am on a 3 day training schedule, and usually hitting 2 major groups a day (i.e, chest in the morning, legs in afternoon). Any help and hints would be greatly appreciated.
