When I am under canopy I have a general rule.. under 1500 feet I NEVER fly over anything or any place I am not willing to land. If you are coming over the treeline "I know you said down the treeline" and you get hit by some wind and stop penetrating you are fubar.. Let's use Spaceland for an example.. If the wind is blowing from the hanger to the parking lot, not sure what direction that is but there is a big ditch and a treeline there. What I do is pick a line say 30 yards shy of that ditch and I s-turn or hold until I get to the altitude I want to initiate landing. Never crossing that line. If anything I stay up wind and eliminate the chance of being pushed into the ditch. Bottom line.. If you don't want to land there do your best not to fly over it under say 1500 feet.. It is a practice that has done me very well while others went into the ditch, had low turns or went into the trees. Fail to plan and you are planning to fail. Especially when it comes to canopy flight.. This was not at you Dave just in general.. Rhino Blue Skies .....

When jumping a new canopy you should open a hell of allot higher than 4k.. I put at least 20 jumps on it doing hop-n-pops from altitude.. That's a demo canopy.. On my new canopy.. 50+ jumps from altitude. The guy sounds like an idiot to me. The DZ safety officer might want to step in on this one. Or maybe you should step in in a bigger way. Bitch slap him or something.. Say wake the fuck up son!! Some people have to learn from the school of hard knocks. Hopefully he lives through it. Rhino Blue Skies .....

Frankly I don't believe a damned thing the news says. They have a tendency to instigate and fuel the whole damned thing. Truth of the matter is we ARE NOT being kept informed, nor is the media for the sake of not killing our own service men and women. WE CANNOT know. The news CANNOT know. They are idiots. Terrorists are dropping like flies right now. None of us have a clue as to exactly what is happening. Apparently Uncle Sam's tactic is effective. If you are thinking that things are winding down and the war on terror is getting lax than the terrorists probably are too.
