I guess I didn't bump into you the last time I went back down to Texas..... i think it was in April. I was still on crutches. Well, the damage was pretty extensive - shattered tib/fib - four compartment syndrome, four compartment fasciotomy, 12x3 skin graft - 14" IM nail and seven screws - damn that's a lot of typing he he he.... In any case, it's gotten quite a bit better but it'll still be quite some time before I can skydive again But what do ya do at the DZ if ya can't skydive? PARTY Hope your foot gets to feelin' better - limpin' sucks

Maybe you're on to somethin' there? But, like I said, I can box off the upper and lower 72 lines (but then I'll lose 144 lines of the picture. Or, I can move the Z-axis (basically zoom out), not lose any of the picture and get the Wide Screen look. I guess my question is really why the picture is in Wide Screen Format when viewed on my DV Camera screen but it's in 4:3 when viewed on the TV screen? I'm thinkin' it has something to do with the Wide Screen Signaling not working properly but I have been wrong before

Yep - Yo switch be wired wrong

Does it focus, or at least try to focus? Action©Sports

That's foul man! How the hell does a repost get more hits and replies than an original post! You guys stink! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1178127;#1178127 Well, it's most likely due to the fact that you failed to stand up for yourself and defend your position - As soon as someone mentioned that it was disrespectful and offensive, you caved - How much fun is that? Peace, Z Action©Sports

Ok, ok ok..... For shits and giggles - Set it to manual focus and see if does the same thing. The third wire in the plug is for the Auto Focus. I'm not sure about Canon - I use Minolta but, the three prong system works pretty much the same way - When you press the shutter release button, it activates the auto focus system - on the Minolta's at least, there is a setting for Auto-Focus Priority or Release Priority - AF Priority means the the camera will not release the shutter if focus is not acquired - RP means that it will try to focus as best it can but it will release the shutter weather the subject is in focus or not. If the Auto Focus wire isn't connected to the correct terminal and the camera is set to Auto-Focus Priority, the shutter won't release until it's depressed a second time - Action©Sports

Ok - I'm assuming it only does this with the new switch hooked up? If that's the case my guess would be that the switch is wired incorrectly - I've wired up quite a few different models of cameras but never a digi-rebel unfortunately. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Z Action©Sports

What do you mean by 5 sec between shots? What's your shutter speed set at? Action©Sports

I've also seen estimates as high as 220. Da Vinci estimates are all over the place, but in my mind, given everything he accomplished is probably the smartest person to walk the earth. YMMV Hell yeah, that man was insanely smart. Did anyone catch that IMAX film in which some skydivers built his pyramid canopy and it freaking worked. I think it was called Into the Extreme. They had that on the Discovery Channel a while back I believe - I missed it but I did hear that the rig they built worked quite well - amazing, ain't it? Action©Sports

Any one out there know shit about WSS or Wide Screen Signaling? Just for shits and giggles, I'm trying to change a video I made from 4:3 to 16:9 format. All of the scenes were filmed with one of six different Sony DV cameras ( PC1, PC110, PC9, TRV-20, TRV-30, TRV-50) in 4:3 format. I changed the format of the Timeline to 16:9 and changed the properties of each clip in the video to 16:9. The output to tape does come out in widescreen format and it looks great although slightly vertically compressed- the only problem is that when I connect the camera to the tv - it's back to 4:3?? I don't use Premiere, I use Pinnacle Edition and according to the manual the software is supposed to add the required WSS information to the video ouput signal used to to switch tv-monitors automatically to Wide Screen Format. My tv switches when I put in a Wide Screen DVD or Wide Screen VCR Tape - why then won't it switch when I plug in my freakin' camera???? It doesn't work burning it to DVD either. When I burn it to a DVD I can view the output on one monitor, and it is in Wide Screen Format but, when I go to play the DVD - it's, well, actually it's not 4:3 it's like zoomed in 16:9 The entire DVD is in EXTREME CLOSE UP he he he. I can still just change the Z-Axis position and get the Wide Screen look if I want (that also eliminates the vertical compression). The only problem with that is when I view it on an actual Wide Screen Tv it looks like a box Anyone have any ideas? Here are the file properties: File type - AVI Codec - DVSD NDQ Level: NDQ25 ? Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Original Image Size: 720x480 24bits/pixel Pixel Format: 1.2001 (CCIR NTSC 16:9) Interlaced: Yes (Bottom field first) Alpha: No Any help would be appreciated, Peace, Z Action©Sports

Yeah, the first time I looked at it I thought that 91 was WAY too high for Bush Seriously, though, it's pretty funny that someone who would go to the trouble of registering a domain name and creating a website just to back up his hoax would use numbers that high. Like Lawrocket said - Nixon, higher IQ than Pascal? I'm thinkin' . . . . . NOT Action©Sports

Report: President Bush Has Lowest IQ of all Presidents of past 50 Years This is from The Pennsylvania Court Observer University Notes Contributors: Cristina L. Brenstein, Lana Taamar If late night TV comedy is an indicator, then there has never been as widespread a perception that a president is not intellectually qualified for the position he holds as there is with President G W Bush. In a report published Monday, the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania detailed its findings of a four month study of the intelligence quotient of President George W. Bush. Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has published its research to the education community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others. According to statements in the report, there have been twelve presidents over the past 50 years, from F.D. Roosevelt to G. W. Bush who were all rated based on scholarly achievements, writings that they alone produced without aid of staff, their ability to speak with clarity, and several other psychological factors which were then scored in the Swanson/Crain system of intelligence ranking. The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points: 147 Franklin D. Roosevelt (D) 132 Harry Truman (D) 122 Dwight D. Eisenhower (R) 174 John F. Kennedy (D) 126 Lyndon B. Johnson (D) 155 Richard M. Nixon (R) 121 Gerald Ford (R) 175 James E. Carter (D) 105 Ronald Reagan (R) 098 George HW Bush (R) 182 William J. Clinton (D) 091 George W. Bush (R) The six Republican presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 115.5, with President Nixon having the highest IQ, at 155. President G. W. Bush was rated the lowest of all the Republicans with an IQ of 91. The six Democrat presidents had IQs with an average of 156, with President Clinton having the highest IQ, at 182. President Lyndon B. Johnson was rated the lowest of all the Democrats with an IQ of 126. No president other than Carter (D) has released his actual IQ, 176. Among comments made concerning the specific testing of President GW Bush, his low ratings were due to his apparent difficulty to command the English language in public statements, his limited use of vocabulary (6,500 words for Bush versus an average of 11,000 words for other presidents), his lack of scholarly achievements other than a basic MBA, and an absence of any body of work which could be studied on an intellectual basis. The complete report documents the methods and procedures used to arrive at these ratings, including depth of sentence structure and voice stress confidence analysis. "All the Presidents prior to George W. Bush had a least one book under their belt, and most had written several white papers during their education or early careers. Not so with President Bush," Dr. Lovenstein said. "He has no published works or writings, so in many ways that made it more difficult to arrive at an assessment. We had to rely more heavily on transcripts of his unscripted public speaking." The Lovenstein Institute of Scranton Pennsylvania think tank includes high caliber historians, psychiatrists, sociologists, scientists in human behavior, and psychologists. Among their ranks are Dr. Werner R. Lovenstein, world-renowned sociologist, and Professor Patricia F. Dilliams, a world-respected psychiatrist. This study was commissioned on February 13, 2001 and released on July 9, 2001 to subscribing member universities and organizations within the education community Action©Sports
