  1. I was goign to buy a Dolphin, but the website I was looking at was out of Date, and the gear store says the price is now $140 higher. That price increase means that the Dolphin isn't so attractive anymore. So, I am considering somehting else. I am trying to get something by the end of the month so I don't have to bum gear for the MOAB boogieWhat company has the fastest delviery time? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  2. That's a best case scenario. When designing life-saving gear you plan for the worst(ie the main still being there in this case). -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  3. Meghan Benally and I are coming up from Durango. I'm really excited as I love laying base for hybrids, but we don't do a lot of them back in AR. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  4. I just wanted to give everyone a headsup on my experience with ICarus. After repeated attempts by my dealer and I to contact Icarus US, I gave up and sent an email to Icarus Europe enquiring if their factory had my canopy. That email went out at what would have been before their business hours. By noon in Spain, their production support manager had sent me a reply. Wow and Grr at the same time. My dealer sent the order in on June 5th which means that Icarus US held on to it for nearly three weeks before passing it on to the factory! Having seen a fair number of Icarus canopies, I can't wait to get mine, and I would do business with Icarus again, just not with Icarus US. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  5. Well, I enquired about getting an MPAAD 18 months ago and they said they were waiting to clear up some legal matters with Airtech before a US release. I found that email the other day and it got me to wondering as I am currently looking for an AAD. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  6. Curious if anyone's heard anything about this lately? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  7. I was wondering if you all could give me some advice or point me in the right direction. I've ordered a Safire II and should have it pretty soon. It's a 269 and I believe I will be loading it at ~1.15. I have zero desire to swoop but I totally want to be able to put this canopy through its paces at altitude. I am realistic enough to know that even though this is just a mid-level canopy, it has a lot more performance than the Mantas and Laser 9's I am used to flying. Given that, i was wondering if anyone could suggest a basic progression I could work on? Right now I am thinking stall/stall recovery, braked turns, and learning how responsive the canopy is to riser and harness inputs. anything in that list I should watch out for? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  8. Talked to Meghan Benally, and she's good to go for the boogie, so I you'll have the two of use coming up from Durango. C ya there Clint. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  9. Just a bump, I waws wondering if you had got your canopies yet? I'm curious as I ordered my Safire II about 12 weeks ago and am still waiting. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  10. At Skyranch, we were fortunate enough to have some Telesis's with pockets for AOD's(AAD on the main). We set these for the students hardeck. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  11. What's the big deal? Getting a Cypres I wet is bad mojo too. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  12. It doesn't originate with them though. They just picked it up when they were going through their skydiving phase. -Bliind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  13. I knew a guy renting student gear who was first out and no one noticed the bright red static line fastened across the back of his blue and gray rig. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  14. What ligthweights. For some tax reason, there's a liquor company that distills Kaluaha and tequila in one state and botles it in Ft. Smith, AR. Every day, there's semi tankers with literally thousands of gallons of unadultrated tequila moving southbound down Interstate 540. I always figured that would kind of be the ultimate hooch heist. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  15. You know, if you're comfortable with your masculinity, that labels not neccessarily a bad thing. Seems there's a lot of women who seem to think that "gay" is a curable condition. I have a bi friend, and before he decided he was bi rather than gay, women used to throw themselves at him like some high schooler's wet dream. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  16. Seems the fair way to do this would be, based on the circusmtances, to allow all the competitors to file scoring appeals . This way the injustice to the Korean competitor could be addressed as well as the injustice to the rest of the competitors(failure to properly dock the Korean competitor). -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  17. You should only ever feel like a dumbass if you get bit on the butt because you didn't ask what you thought was a stupid question. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  18. Just don't do what my ex-fiancee did. We had just mvoed into our new house and were getting used to living together. We had been spending an insane amount of time getting ready for the wedding and everything so we were both just totally exhausted. She woke me up one night complaining about my snoring and I felt really bad for her. I was simply too tired to get up, so I literally crawled out of bed and into the hallway. It was winter and I was naked, but I was simply too tired to dress or drag a cover with me. Despite that, I did manage to get back to sleep. The next thing I remember is a sharp pain in my ribs as she is kicking me for snoring in the hallway. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  19. I don't generally like blasting people, but I have got to call you on this one. Yes, retina do detach. Also, having had two corneal transplants, I can attest to the fact that the eye heals incredibly slowly. When i had my first transplant, the doc told me I'd have to take it very easy for 3 -6 months, but I was actually off-work for 8 months. Given the whole degenerative nature of retinal detachment, I can easily imagine the doctor having her on a long convalescense. Shame on you for blasting her just because you don't like her. I would normally say don't criticize until you've walked in their shoes, but honestly having done that, I can tell you it sucks and wouldn't wish it on any person, even the insensitive ones. Oh yeah, also, makign ends meet on full pay is hard enough, making them meet on disability pay was impossible. So it's not exactly like you get to sit at home and live the easy life. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  20. Ok, got a related question for you all. If we know that the chest strap friction adapter is rated at 500 lbs, what would be a good replacement for those of us that like to lay base on hybrids? I know the adapter should hold, but I've had a few decent yanks on my cheststrap, and could easily imagine a larger jumper, like myself, putting 500 lbs of stress on the strap. Also, as just a sr. rigger,I'm not familiar with the legalese of such a mod. Would you need to do a TSO re-cert or is there an equivalent of the STC for rigs? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  21. Yes, skydiving could never be as exciting to the general public as classic nail biters like synchronized swimming and badminton. Dude, you may think I'm BS'ing you, but in Asia, badmition is incredibly huge. While probably not as blood-thirsty to their fellow fans, Asian badmition fans are just as hard-core as Euro soccer fans. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  22. Yeah, but in space, no one can hear you laugh. -Jackmc "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  23. Ok, then let me ask another question to those of you familiar with Dolphins. I had heard that the Dolphin 2000 was freefly friendly, is that true? That's an issue for me becuase even if I'm not freeflying, I can break 200 mph in a hard arch. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  24. That's how I used to flare. When the leash went slack, I knew it was time. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
  25. Or, as in my case, it could say "I'm a college student" -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
