Visually, there's not a whole lot of difference between one semi-elliptical and another. Using the PD program to color a Sabre II will give you approximatley the same results. Heck, if you use Paragear's online canopy coloring program, the blank template for the Saber and the Safire is the same. -blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Ah, I see. Then check out this link. http://parachuteshop.com/dolphin.htm (Sorry, I haven't figured out how to insert a hypelink.) This was the best deal I could find on a Dolphin by itself: $790. Thanks a lot! That's defiantely a significant enough of a price savings to make a Dolphin look real atractive. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Problems is I all ready have brand new canopies, I just need something to stuff them in. Getting used gear is out because I am a big jumper flying a Safire 2 269 and a R-Max 288 which means that I have trouble finding used rigs that fit either me or my canopies, and never both. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Cost of freebag (Tell me this is a joke!!!)
BlindBrick replied to goose491's topic in Gear and Rigging
I don't know Sunrise's situation, but as a basic business practice, if you are not selling enough rigs to satisfy your goals, you can attempt to make up some of the difference in revenue by upping the price of "expendable" items such as bags and handles. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -
First off, this is not an intentional flame against the Dolphin, so don't take it that way. For a long time, I've heard people talking about how the Dolphin was a very decent rig for a great price. I am currently looking at getting a new rig and am considering the Dolphin. However, as I was flipping through the latest Paragear catalog, I noticed that the price difference between a Dolphin, Quasar, Infinity, and Centarus are minimal. So, my question is if the Dolphin is really worth the $150-300 cost savings? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Please tell me that was sarcasm, becuase the LOTR movies had some major divergence from the books. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Bak in the day, I heard mention that the Astra battery pack was not a proprietary item, but rather an off the shelf component that could be obtained at some hardware stores. I tried calling FXC, but the person that I talked too said they could only answer questions that weren't technical. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone here knows if that's true, and if so, what the model number or specs are. -Jackmc "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

The cynic in me says that going to a longer repack cycle will hurt some riggers as it will take them that much longer to find their missing tools. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Hey we resembl... resent that remark!

I'm partial to my R-Max. As a rigger, I got to inspect each line and stitch before packing itaway, and it is solid. Being a newer canopy, it's built under 23D and placarded to 317 lbs at 150 kts(172 mph), though I've heard that its been successfully tested at even greater loads/speeds. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Has this happened to you (gross picture included)
BlindBrick replied to sabregrl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
my eyes looked alot like that after my cornea transplants. I can't remember the guys name, but back in the 50's, NASA had this rocket sled that accelerated like something out of a sci-fi movie and deceled jsut as hard. The guy who rode that thing had red eye so bad that his entire eye looked red. You couldn't tell what color his eyes were! -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -
Water has /zero/ compressibility. To put it another way, the steam catapults on an aircraft carrier generate tremendous amounts of force.. Once the plane has been released, that catapult's shuttle needs to stop as quickly as possible. The Navy uses a very simply braking system. At the end of the shuttles track is a tube filled with water. The shuttle hits that and stops instantly. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

I am going to be in Deland for six or seven weeks doing some rigging and an internship with one of the gear manufactuers. I was wondering what housing options look like in the area. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

The heavier weight of motorcycle helmets can lead to severe neck trauma during a har dopening. So think carefully before using one on a skydive. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Maybe on older models, but when I bought a Pro-tech in '02, no cutting was required as the padding all ready has a large earhole. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Your right, the buying public has spoken and I guess that is why our sales doubled for the year by December 1st., thank you for the complement. Dude, while I respect your right to defend something you care about, as a representitve of your company, I'd expect a lot more diplomacy, tact and proper debating. I am purchasing a new canopy this summer and the JumpShack Firebolt was one of three "finalist" under serious consideration. If your actions are indicative of Jumpshack as a whole; however, I think my search just narrowed down to two. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Protecs are very, very audible-friendly. The padding has ear holes that are big enough to house just about any audible out there. All you need to do is get some zip ties or cord and lash the audible to the vent bars that are on the part of the outer shell that covers the earholes. If you jump a Pro-track or the like, rubber bands work better as they make it easier to remove on a regular basis. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Can anybody recommend some books on canopy design
BlindBrick replied to BlindBrick's topic in Gear and Rigging
I called up my old DZO and he's getting me a quote on a 270 sf Safire 2. I've also PM a Jump Shack guy about a quote for a Firebolt 270. What are your opinions on these two canopies? -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -

Actually I hav, and that's why i am not oging to be doing any heads down until i get me new free-fly friendly container this summer. I know that won't totally eliminate the risk, but it should go a long ways towards lowering it. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -

BlindBrick replied to BlindBrick's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yeah, but since I am nearing 200 mph belly flying(I can outfall most of the headsdowners at my old DZ) I wanted to keep my weight and learn headsdown to see if I could break 300. That's actually semi-serious, but totally serious, I deal with stress two ways, I jump or I eat. Since I am currently not jumping, I am eating. It's a kind of Catch-22 situation. I need to lose weight to jump but I need to jump to lose weight. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." -
It you have anvil jumps this fall, let me know. I should have my rig totally assembled by then and I think Perris is only like twelve hours from here. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."

Being a guy in this over-obsessed with ourselves culture I once thought about trying some of that stuff so I too could be like John Holmes! Then I got to reflecting on how much trouble what I've got has gotten me into and decided that I really didn't need a few more inches. -Blind "If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it."
