  1. I've got two words for you : 'Get Carter' The dude's canopy control coaching is friggin evil as well!!
  2. Dunno about the coaching, there's a reason I posted stills from my footage and not his... But if you ever make it to Hinton/Weston/Sibson/Hibaldstow I'd enjoy jumping with you again. Will
  3. How many jumps have you made since 1995? If it is a lot (ie over 1000) then it would probably be worthwhile investing in new kit. If you just make the occasional fun jump, then why not stick with what you've got and use your money for beer? I don't own any property, drive a car that just clocked 200 000 miles, but don't think twice about investing in skydiving (gear, coaching etc.). It all depends on what you want from the sport I suppose. Will
  4. Well, they're only screen grabs from my camera (PC9) not stills, but boy do I wish I had stills of that dive!
  5. Howdy all Did the most bitching dive of my life Saturday evening (head down with Tim Carter). It was the sunset load and I am still stoked. Attached is a pic (I hope) . All the grabs were from my camera (ie of Tim)
  6. Oh, and there was me thinking all South Africans were complete pricks...
  7. You been drinking on the job again Marc?
  8. You mean you bend both ways???

  10. Yep, plus the coach fees don't stop with WARP either. I just spent a shit-load on freefly coach jumps. I have friends in junior FS teams who spend even more on tunnel camps and coaching from guys like Solly Williams. If you want to continue in the sport as a sport it is always going to cost you everything you do (and don't!) earn. If you want to make a second job out of it one day is up to you. Personally I reckon 'working' on the weekends would take some of the pleasure out of it for me, not being able to do the jumps I want to do with whoever I want to jump with. Will
  11. And I bet in your day the old-timers said exactly the same thing... I interviewed Dean Fisher for the Skydivemag last year (has been skydiving since 1966, longest layoff was 7 weeks). He had the following to say : Man, there is too much exciting stuff going on now (eg wingsuits) to be arguing over who was the first person to pass the baton. Some sauerkraut doing the 'TM' thing doesn't really bother me, in fact I think its funny as hell. And as Chuck said about freestyle, you think it is a co-incidence that Olav, Omar and other prominent freeflyers won gold medals doing style? Will
  12. Exactly how do you plan on quantifying 'Equally involved'??? How long do you hang-glide for on a Saturday? What sort of skydiving are you into and how many jumps would you make on an average Sunday? How small is your canopy and how well do you fly it? How well maintained is your jump plane and how good is the pilot flying it? Sorry man, there are just too many variables and I don't think there is any way to easily draw a basis for comparison. And I definitely don't believe that being 'equally involved' in both sports will provide this (especially seeing as I won't be taking up hang-gliding anytime soon). People will come to whatever conclusions make them feel better about the particular sport they have chosen, whether that is skydiving, extreme bowling, whatever... Will
  13. I think you are getting your ideal date confused with Texans Justin...
  14. Kinda shot yourself in the foot there dude...
  15. Dude, I am a skydiver, I am a citizen of the world with diplomitic immunity on dropzones everywhere...
  16. Dude, I live in England - how about you do the skydiving and then tell me about it on Monday (at least until my next holiday away from this rain magnet).
  17. How can you compare the two? You can't equate one skydive to one hang-gliding flight, because from takeoff to landing under canopy can take as little as 30 min for one skydive (jumping from a turbine). On the other hand one hang-gliding flight can probably last much longer. Maybe hang-gliding is safer, but I don't know because I don't understand on what basis you can compare the two. However I do know that take-offs in relatively small planes can be dangerous and I choose to take-off in a heavily loaded small plane very often. Most skydivers probably worry about bouncing or hooking it in, personally I am most worried about an accident on take-off (heavily loaded plane probably with lots of fuel in the tanks). You are trusting your life to the people who built the plane, the people who service the plane and the man/men flying the plane, you don't have any control over the situation. Will
  18. OK, I think we can reach some common ground here : He has the right to make that kind of music and sell it, I have the right to find his music exploitative and choose not to buy it. Ain't democracy great?
  19. Still, having just a first name ('john') and an email address doesn't mean its not anonymous. If he gave his full name and flying credentials he might get taken more seriously. But then if he really is a helicopter pilot he'd be following the proper channels, or at least contacting Rod Tinney personally not attacking him via a public forum. Whatever the true story is, he's going about it in a very bad way. But you're right, I should probably email him directly and make my feelings known.. Will
  20. What a horrible thing to say, I think the kids look fine...
