Remi I hope you don't have your pants round your ankles when you make all these *prank* calls! "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

I've just sent you a PM with full instructions...

Agreed, but the person dealing with the mals on a tandem is a *little* more experienced than a first time AFF student who has to deal with a mal. I was just curious as to the 'statistics' that say that AFF is safer than a tandem. "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"
-
What statistics are you quoting? What makes you say that AFF is safer than doing a tandem? That right there seems to me to be a good reason for someone to do a tandem first. I never did one (first jump was static line), but still think a tandem is a good introduction. Gives people an idea of what freefall is like, probably a good confidence builder for AFF level 1 too. Well said Erno. Also, vipergts, even if you do get into a team sport in skydiving (FS etc.) just remember that at pull-time you are always alone. This is something I find really empowering about the sport, it is up to you to save your own ass. Your training and practicing emergency procedures should prepare you to deal with situations as they arise. I'd definitely recommend what the others suggested though - do a tandem first and see how (if) you enjoy that. Will "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

Nothing wrong with a little bumper cars as long as nobody gets hurt (badly). Amazing how many bruises you pick up jumping and not feel a thing at the time. I watched a static line student exit recently. He was very aggressive on the exit and punched the aliminium edge on the leading side of the door. He split his hand right open. When I asked him about it on the ground he had no idea what had happened - under canopy he thought his hand was hurting because the altimeter strap was too tight!!!

Thats what you get when you strap a camera to your head - all the camera sluts wanna get in on the action with your head as the target...

In that second pic it looks like you are hunched forward and as a result have your arms back to prevent from back-sliding. The guy flying head-up to your right has much better body position. I thought you were good at freeflying Clay??? "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

What pisses me off here in London is cars using the bus lane to cut up the regular lane. There is supposed to be an £80 fine for people misusing the bus lane but it never gets enforced, as a result these road-hogs slow things down for the rest of us when they cut back in AND they slow down the buses. I'll keep an eye out for the ad on e-Bay... "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

Yet another South African whoring himself out for free jumps... Don't those people have any pride??? Actually South Africa does seem to produce loads of skydivers, some of them (Fred Witsit, Rat, Gary Beyer, Solly Williams etc) pretty good as well. Did you guys know that Europe's busiest DZ (Empuria Brava) is owned/operated by a South African? "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

advice needed please - 1st rig-South African gear?
skreamer replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
Where do you jump in the UK? If you are ever at Hinton there are loads of people jumping South African gear (not just the many South Africans who jump there either). Dale Thornton (dz.com username dalethornton) bought a complete rig (inc. Cypres) from SA recently for a very good price. I've got Tempo and Hornet canopies but chose to get a Wings container. If you want to get first hand opinions on Chuteshop and PISA gear definitely try and stop by Hinton some time - quite a few of the instructors there us SA kit. I fear getting crippled for life. I'd like to think that that fear will keep me careful so I can continue jumping for as long as possible. Will "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

I'd really enjoy that. Couple of years ago I drove up from Bridlington (did 3 months contract there at Sara Lee's) to Linlithgow where my grandfather came from. When the locals in the pub heard why I was there, boy oh boy...
-
Well done man!! I can relate to the broke bit...
-
No, but lots of skinhead yobs. You enjoy being treated like a schoolchild and forced to leave a pub at 11PM?(incidentally the Met reckons thats one of the reasons there is so much street violence - all the drunken yobbos leaving pubs at same time) Spend 45 minutes every morning driving 7 miles through London traffic and you'll wish you had an automatic transmission... Haven't been home for a while have you??? World's busiest year-round DZs with affordable jump tickets and decent altitude - don't see too many yanks bitching about that... I've been to the states 4 times now and really enjoyed myself, the one thing I do prefer about the British is that they are a bit better travelled and informed. I read in Time that 85% of Americans don't even own passports. Pretty strange that the richest nation in the world isn't into travelling much. Of course American skydivers would probably be an exception to that rule. Will "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

You is yust jealous because I has diplooooomatik eeeemewnity!!!

I thought all British people got free dental care? Isn't that why nobody here brushes their teeth? "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

But I got my passport back today and have been given permanent residency (Indefinite Leave to Remain) in the UK!

Yes prof, you have been in the states a little too long good buddy... "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

I think whats bothering Remi most is losing the very fine, uhhh, 'collection' he had built up on that HDD...... Maybe Clay can help him out with some new spicey material (Gay Biker Bovines into Bondage etc.)

I think a really strong magnet will fix his problem... "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

Sheesh, what country are you going to pull out of your ass next?? You French/Canadian/Spanish types really piss me off.... "Look before you jump, don't die until you're dead"

Install Windows on the new HDD, set the jumpers on the new HDD to master and the jumpers on the old HDD to slave. Boot up off the new HDD (with newly installed OS), copy all files and folders from old HDD then format the phuqa and install a more reliable OS and file system.
