My first jump was at an awesome place called Citrusdal (South Africa) in February 1993. I now live in London, but am really looking forward to a 'home-coming' of sorts when I go back to South Africa in April. I didn't spend that many weekends there, but did do both SL and (7 years later) AFF progression there. The vibe there is good (at least I hope it still is!

If you really are that concerned, then posting a "Does CrazyThomas scare the crap out of you?" poll is hardly the way to go to help the guy. Your post seemed more for the benefit of everybody else than Thomas himself. Perhaps a PM voicing your concern might have been a better idea? Will PS have a quick lurk 'n search on Blinc, the guy has promised not to post there for a month - maybe he's just killing time on dz.com (as opposed to himself that is). (I'm with Deuce on this one - its the quiet ones you have to worry about...)

That was my point, maybe the price is cheap in US$ because the local currency is not very strong? Maybe avgas isn't taxed very highly there? Maybe this is just a special the DZ is running? I don't think anybody who doesn't know the full local situation (economy, DZO etc.) is going to be able to tell you whether or not that is a rip-off. Maybe it is just a legitimate good deal? Will PS btw you don't need the course, so why the concern?
