  1. Oh hell, now I have to dig through the vinyl. Saw him way back in the 70's. Shame that James Dewar isn't around anymore to sing for Trower. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  2. I agree 100%. I'm not at all a drinker but, I will have one beer after getting my deer during deer season. I also will have a few shots of bourbon throughout the year because I love the taste of Maker's Mark bourbon but, do not like the buzz at all so, I stop at one shot. In the past, however, I was a big drinker. Been sober 13 years this month. Nothing at all wrong with enjoying a drink but, when it gets to the point of guzzling down a bottle of whisky, wine or a case of beer, there seems to be a problem with the person doing so. Especialy when it's a daily event. That was my problem. It went from just having a drink to just getting drunk. I was talking to a lady I know in town the other week about alcohol and she kind of hit it just right when she said about alcohol use being that when you are a teenager, it's rebeling, when you are in your 20's, it's partying, when you are in your thirties, it's just something you do, when you are in your 40's and above, it's just pathetic when you drink like you did when you were in your teens. I am glad they busted the coke ring and I know it's hypocritical but, I wish they would legalize marijuana and use the funds to wipe coke and meth off the face of the planet. 3. Kids are slammed in the face with how great it is to drink alcohol from the time they start watching tv. They see their parents drink. They see sport figures touting it. They see their favorite musicians drinking it. Just because it is legal doesn't make it any less worse than cocaine or meth. In a way it makes it worse as some seem to overlook its seriousness as a rite of passage. i would need more than my two hands and feet to count how many people I know who have died from alcohol poisoning, killed by a drunk driver, killed themselves drinking and driving and a few other ways. Alcohol is a very serious and powerful drug that should not be taken lightly solely because it is legal. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  4. So... are you celebrating with your drug of choice? Wine? Do you realize that alcohol is a drug and that most kids start their drug use with alcohol? A bit hypocritical it would be. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  5. Urban legend http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/atheist.asp "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  6. Lil Gaucho ain't so little anymore. He's still small compared to Charlemagne but thinks he is much bigger. Just a few months ago he could fit in the palm of my hand when he was but a few days old. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  7. I see them as a tribute as well as politcal. Some will use them to push their point of needless death and others as the reason to continue this war (we must revenge their deaths). I hope hope the former will prevail and no more faces need to be posted. When I joined during the Iranian Crisis, I was all geared for a big war. I thought it was the right thing. Only some years later did we learn what it was really all about. Had we gone full scale back then, I can only imagine how many would had died for a lie. It seems that we go to war for all the wrong reasons. There is no right reason for Iraq. There is for Afghanistan but, Iraq was for ego and not much more. I really hope that someday you learn to hate war and that your face does not end up on some internet tribute site. Sadly, those pages will grow in the years to come as it really does not appear that any end is close in sight. 8. How low is this? http://projects.washingtonpost.com/fallen/ Considering your statement " I like war." in another thread... "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  9. I have an appointment with vocational rehab tomorrow. I've worked in the welding field all of my life but, with advanced HIV, severe neuropathy, wearing out extremely fast and the severe nausea being on my feet all day is somewhat difficult. I have been trying to make my homebased business work out for me but t-shirt sales have been slow as of late. I do hope that I can get into something that will allow me to work around my illness that can provide insurance. I am a damn good graphic artist as well as a pro with Photoshop and know my way around a commecial embroidery machine and garment printer. I need something that won't keep me on my feet for 8+ hours straight. Believe me, I much prefer to work. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 10. So your fine with what only works for you? Next time you or your family need medical care do you plan to not use your insurance? If you do use the insurance, then you are part of the problem then, according to your words. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. This one is currently pissing me off. My insurance says I have a $100 copay for emergency room visits ($25 for office visits). I made a trip to the ER in September and received 5 different bills totalling a bit over $800. I'd honestly like to see some effort among healthcare companies to promote customer service, including centralized billing. How am I supposed to know how much to set aside for bills when they just keep coming in, from companies I haven't heard of, for seemingly random amounts? Hell, I got a bill in November from December 2005! It was for someone reading an MRI, the results of which were never given to me because my primary physician closed up shop the same day I had that $3500 scan. (I did get a copy of the reading from a friend who worked at the hospital, including a note that she could lose her job if they found out she'd given it to me.) When I called to contest that one, they said something about the prior billing company hadn't been up to speed. Who the hell keeps all their receipts for 2 years? For all I know, I paid the bill back then, but since I can't prove it, I pay now or they send me to collections. That's BS...there should be some reasonable number of bills expected and within a reasonable timeframe. Blues, Dave I live in the sad state of Misery (Missouri). Some time back, our idiot governor Matt Blunt (R) kicked most everyone off of medicaid and then revamped the system bringing in a private insurance company, Healthnet. Healthnet then raised everyones spenddown. I now pay $571.00 for the month that I have a doctor appointment. Fine, I have no problem with that as my treatment is quite expensive. AIDS is not cheap. Problem with Healthnet is that they have refused to pay for the treatment that I recieved. What treatment did I recieve? Blood drawn and lab work. Nothing else. My bill on top of the $571.00 is 1 outpatient visit - $83.00, a level 4 visit (whatever the hell that is) - $130.00, Lab service - $180.43, and a second lab service - $671.87. So, I pay $571.00 to a private insurance company that is contracted by the State and I still have to pay for the entire thing a total so far (spenddown included) of $1636.30. I'd much rather had kept the money that Healthnet ripped me of for and then only have a bill less of $571.00. That $571.00 could had gone towards the service recieved instead of into the pockets of Healthnet. What a freaking ripoff. Medicaid was far better as I paid my spenddown and Medicaid paid the rest. For you people who will surely scream "Why should my taxes pay for your care". Me, paying the spenddown and then Medicaid covering the rest is no different than you paying into your private insurance and then using that insurance. What you pay into is small compared to what they may pay out for your care. Why should another person who pays into the same insurance have to help pay for your care with their premiums? It's the samething, the pooling of funds to help treat everyone, to help provide the same level of care. Sadly, Healthnet is ripping off us who can never obtain care anyother way. Myself, being HIV+, no insurance company will cover me. Tell me, what choice do I have? "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  12. I'd also recommend the documentary "Grass" by Ron Mann. http://www.sphinxproductions.com/pages/film_grass.html Sadly, those who are so severly brainwashed will never see the truth and continue to believe the lies built upon lies by the U.S. government. Believe it or not, the movement towards legalization is on a roll and the day will come when smoking a joint will not send you to jail. The medical mj movement is well established and has the backing of medical professionals (Organizations that have endorsed medical access to marijuana include: the Institute of Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians; American Bar Association; American Public Health Association; American Society of Addiction Medicine; AIDS Action Council; British Medical Association; California Academy of Family Physicians; California Legislative Council for Older Americans; California Medical Association; California Nurses Association; California Pharmacists Association; California Society of Addiction Medicine; California-Pacific Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church; Colorado Nurses Association; Consumer Reports Magazine; Kaiser Permanente; Lymphoma Foundation of America; Multiple Sclerosis California Action Network; National Association of Attorneys General; National Association of People with AIDS; National Nurses Society on Addictions; New Mexico Nurses Association; New York State Nurses Association; New England Journal of Medicine; and Virginia Nurses Association. http://www.drugwarfacts.org/medicalm.htm ). Those who deny that mj has medical value are only fooling themselves. As a patient, I'll testify to its usefullness as an appetite stimulant as well as curbing nausea. 13. Awww ... isn't it cute when they realize this. How many times did you have to kick him in the head? I did try pushing her towards the blue sky version but, I can only take so many kicks to the head. Y'all can be soooooo cruel I'm just a purple girl at heart. I LIKE the blue one. I LOVE the purple one. Oh, and on top of that ... I love you too!
  14. I take an actual photo, remove the color and then create a color transparncy and layer it atop of the colorless layer. The plane is from a photo I took of Mike Mullins Super Kingair during a headdown jump some years ago. I did some work on it to give it a cartoon appearance. The same with the jumper. The ground is from a photo from a jump last weekend here in Mt. Vernon at Freefall Express. The clouds are from brushes that I created from photos of clouds that I spent a day shooting. I do everything in layers which makes it easy to postion pieces of the composition. I use Photoshop CS2 and a good number of plugins to create the effects. I do, however print from Photoshop6. Color profile is Colormatch RGB. The RIP profile outputs to NTSC1953. The print medium is based on an Epson 2200 with a RIP that allows white ink usage. The inks are textile inks specially made for direct to garment inkjet printing. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

  17. I wouldn't call those who ride lidless "dumb". I've been on a bike since my minibike in 1965. I rode scrambles and motocross up until the mid 70's and been on streetbikes since 76. In Mo. we have a helmet law but most of our runs go to Illinois where there is no lid law. Some take them off, some don't. Personal choice. When I lived in California during the lidless days, I never put on my helmet. I kinda enjoyed the wind in my hair. I don't mind wearing the helmet but, I'd like to have the choice to do so or not. Being on a lone stretch of highway on a hot day, it is nice to be able to take it off and just enjoy the wind. As for fatalities, the largest percent (47%) is contributed to inexperienced new riders above 40yo on bikes they are not able to handle. I just laugh at some yuppie who goes out and buys a "custom" bike for 20k or more and then buys several thousand dollars worth of leather only to seldom ride the bike and eventually wreck it because they do not have the experienced required to ride properly. I can't begain to count the miles I put under my ass. In all the years I've been riding I've had 3 accidents. Hit by one car, one motorcycle and lost it in a curve at Otay Lakes when I hit a squirrel. In two of the accidents, I had a helmet on. The squirrel incident I did not. In none of those incidents would a helmet had mattered. I was lucky that they ended up that way. But, that is also where experience comes into play. Knowing how to land when coming off a bike. Maybe all the years of dirt comes into play for that. Though, it's true that even years of experience will not save you. Also, I'd point out that the majority of those whom I know who have died in motorcycle accidents were very experienced riders. Most, a helmet would not had done a bit of good due to internal injuries. In a few cases, a helmet might had saved them. There is also a difference in who rides. Your true biker (patch holders and lone wolfs) is far more experienced than the weekend rider. Someone who lives on their bike day in and day out is going to be more capable to handle a situation than the Rub who plonks down 20k+ for a bike barely worth half that and rides to the local HOG meeting once a month. One only needs to look at the numbers to see who is getting killed. My opinion is that someone who has never been on a bike has no business getting on a big bike. The nubers show that the majority are getting killed on big bikes. I worked my way up form the minibike tomy last motocrossbike (360cz) to a honda cb350 to a sportster onto my Norton 750 chopper, several shovelheads, one Indian Chief, my Fatboy and then back to my Norton chop which is now a stroked 1000 (soon to be back on the road). I can only shake my head at those who think they can handle something so big but have never even been on something small. I shake my head even more when I see someone going down the highway with a full face on and wearing shorts and sandals. Not much good a helmet is going to do them when they hit the meat grinder. I almost always wear my chaps and leather jacket as well as shorty gloves. But, it's my choice to wear leather. Wouldn't want a law requiring it the same as I oppose the law requiring the lid. 18. Nowhere in the constitution is there a refernce to god. The original pledge of allegiance had no mention of god nor did it mention the United States. Furthermore it was written by the scocialist Francis Bellamy "I pledge allegiance to my flag and the republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Thomas Jefferson was not a christian nor was he a religous man. He did, however, read the bible and believed that Jesus was a real person but, not the son of a god. "In God we Trust" was added to our money in 1955. The big push to make us a nation under god was started in response to communist leaders being mostly atheist. The "Good vs. Evil" tactic. Much of what the religous right spouts today about war and diesease being gods way of punishing us ungodly folks is nothing new. The same rhetoric was used during the Civil War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Veitnam and now Iraq. Truth being, we are not "One Nation under God" but a nation forced under that umbrella. The indigenous people of this land were not christians but forced to be. It was pounded into our heads back in the 50's onwards as children reciting the pledge each day before class (1953,Democrat from Michigan Rep. Louis Rabaut introduced the bill to place god in the pledge) We see it on our money. We hear politicians spout it. To take a look at all of the references to god one would think we are as fanatical as the islamic extremist. It's not a good thing when everyone might be viewed as such soley because of the country they live in. I think, it's the same problem that many muslim have due to the radicals in their faith or country of origin. Religion devides people far more than it brings them together. 21. Got a chance to jump the K10D this weekend. Clear deep blue sky at 11:43. Vivitar 28mm m/f'd lens, f8 @ 1/500, 400iso S/R was turned off. The attachments are as they came off of the card with no enhancements being done. The shots were done in .jpg mode. Next time I plan to shoot in raw format. All in all, I think they look really good. The camera itself performed great and very comfortable, weight wise. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  22. Back in 2001, I was heading home late at night after dropping Tamara Koyn off at her home, as I was getting off of Hwy 270 on to I-70 I rearended a car that was stopped on the freeway. I didn't see the guy until the last second as his car was a dark blue and his lights were off. He was at the end of the entrance ramp waiting for a car to pass even though there was no reason to do so as there is more then a mile of lane to run on before it merges and being late at night there was not much traffic to contend with. His insurance refused to pay for my damage stating that I was at fault for hitting him in the rear. My insurance company said he was at fault for being stopped on the interstate ramp with lights off as was stated in the police report. In the end we both ended up being responsible for our own damged cars. I believe he was responsible for the damage to my beautiful 80 SS El camino. Still haven't been able to find a chrome 1980 grill for her. Sometimes, it just isn't right but, what can you do? At least no one was hurt or killed. Plus, I was really glad that Tamara wasn't in the car at the time as I hit him at about 60mph. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 25. When I read things like this it always reminds me of the Bob Dylan song that says it so well... Once upon a time you dressed so fine You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you? People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall" You thought they were all kiddin' you You used to laugh about Everybody that was hangin' out Now you don't talk so loud Now you don't seem so proud About having to be scrounging for your next meal. How does it feel How does it feel To be without a home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone? You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely But you know you only used to get juiced in it And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it You said you'd never compromise With the mystery tramp, but now you realize He's not selling any alibis As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes And ask him do you want to make a deal? How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone? You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns When they all come down and did tricks for you You never understood that it ain't no good You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat Ain't it hard when you discover that He really wasn't where it's at After he took from you everything he could steal. How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone? Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe You used to be so amused At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal. How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone? The truth is, no one is immune to the fall that so many find themselves in. It's easy to sit in your house and laugh at those who have lost it all. Call them what you wish. It's sad when you are so beyond yourself that you cannot imagine yourself in their place. I'm sure some of them thought much like you do before they found out otherwise. As of right now, citizens in Springfield, Mo. are gathering petitions to close down a homeless shelter for homeless Iraq veterans. The shelter is ran by Rev. Larry Rice, a great human. Rev. Rice is not a money grubber. He does not live in a mansion. He wears no gold nor have a multi-million dollar church. Every dime he collects he gives away. The city of Springfield has done everything it can to run him and the homeless vets out of town. People in the area say that they feel bad for them but, they don't want these guys in their town The Assemblies of God and the Bapitist have refused them help. Their only help is coming from Larry Rice. Sad that someone who claims to be a "christian" would post constantly to put the homeless down. But, considering what has been going on around this part of the bible belt it is really no surprise. Talk all godly but spit on those who need help the most. Not very christian like now is it? If you are unaware of Larry Rice; http://www.newlifeevangelisticcenter.org/immeasurablymore.htm "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black."
