  1. Honest answer: Women (AND MEN) are not logic beasts. You can not apply a material implication to all situations. It's not a matter of "if 'x', then 'y'." There are many more complexities in human thought and expectations than a nice clean binary solution set will allow. If you want to "try" to understand the rationale, you should consider her experiences (past programming), her mood/physiologic status at the time (internal variables), the setting (external variables), the future plans (anticipated outcomes and expectations), favorite color, how many cupholders are in your car, name of her first pet, last time she ate chocolate, recent purchases of tampax, and money. NOTE: some of those above criteria are more important than others - you just have to understand which ones.
  2. Was it your results from the urologist? With a count like that, you might want to think about giving up the tighty whiteys and avoid the hot bubble baths.
  3. I don't understand why we celebrate this even during the day... Owls are nocturnal
  4. ok... sometimes people are just users. But... maybe some other random chick will call/page to meet at some random bar
  5. Why are people becoming more and more jaded? Why do we (myself included) let our views become so negatively influenced? Why bypass what might become a wonderful evening in a belief that she just wants to use you?
  6. now I skerrid the sad turtle. You can come out of your shell, someday I'll visit.
  7. You have the wrong DNA for me to make a house call. Wrong DNA? I can see a X chromosome missing, but wrong DNA? Ow. I'm all sad now - Does anyone know the number to the Swiss National Suicide Hotline? I'm sorry. I'll be right over with my speculums and colposcope.
  8. I'll watch that if you come over. You have the wrong DNA for me to make a house call.
  9. I thought Inception was interesting. Or... since you're thinking of animated: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
  10. No doubt - then again there may have grounds to get out of the pre-nuptual prenubian agreement if you sign while post-nubain!
  11. I would recommend that you make all agreements "pre-nubain" (sorry... when I first read that my occupational bias changed the "a" and the "i" which TOTALLY changes the whole thing)
  12. Shah... Not every woman is a leech looking to steal what ever you might have in the bank (whether it's "Fort Knox" or "piggy"). It would be nice if you could at least acknowledge that somewhere... somehow... a female might... in some version of reality... possibly have money of her own; a career of her own; a brain of her own. AND in some situations, a pre-nup would protect her from just being courted for her *cough* assets. and... about that BMW comment - I will agree that there is a place for the pomp and pretentiousness of a high maintenance flash. But there's nothing wrong with having fun on a 4 wheeler in the hills, a lovely ride on a Harley, rolling out in a Deuce and a half (M35) or a sporty (but cheap) Hyundai Tiburon. I might not own the Beemer, but guess what... I'm ok with that.
  13. yes and no. I'm guessing that your father had DM Type 2, the post above you seems like a Type 1 situation. Type 1 - pancreas doesn't make insulin. Type 2 - insulin is made, but the body is resistant to it. With type 2, diet (low carb) and exercise is VERY important. With type 1.... yeah, they're stuck with an insulin pump.
  14. That sucks. But you CAN manage this. Get the carbs out of your diet. It's HARD. I LOVE potatoes and pasta. Make it fresh fruit and protein. Your body doesn't use insulin like others do. The high carbs and simple sugars can't make it into the cells. So even though you might be eating ok, and high blood sugars, the cells themselves are starving. (then the high blood sugars are "stuck" on the hemoglobin like little shards of glass tearing up your kidneys, retina, nerves.... getting those sugars down is critical) Please don't lose motivation to get it under control. You honestly CAN do this.
  15. Congratulations! Glad you got to enjoy the sky!
  16. BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD
  17. My father, my mother and both my sisters - Type 2 DM. All but my mother require/required insulin. Me? Nope. I do check it, but my HgbA1C was last checked in Dec and it's looking good. Watch those carbs. Keep the weight controlled. Exercise.
  18. Somebody really cool. I've hung out with her. Maybe you'll get to sometime too. Thank you, John. I truly believe that you and your fantastic wife are amazing spirits as well. And... Warped and I have met.
  19. Still no "answers" but recent posts on bonfire made me think about this thread again. What is "beauty" as it applies to "body image" and "self esteem"? "Self worth"? "Confidence"? The ANSWER is different for each and every person - what criteria you chose to use; what parameters you see as marks; what is "good" I found this book: Body Work: Beauty and Self-Image in American Culture. I like how the author broke the topic into the chapters they chose: Chapter 1 "The Hair Salon: Social Class, Power and Ideal Beauty"; Chapter 2 "Aerobics: Neutralizing the Body and Renegotiating the Self"; Chapter 3 "Cosmetic Surgery: Paying for your Beauty"; Chapter 4 "NAAFA: Reinterpreting the Fat Body" When you try to value yourself using others opinions, then you become one of their "dolls." (Not that I don't like The Dollhouse, but a PERSON is much more than that two dimensional beautiful mask) When it comes to physical appearance, "we" really place way too much emphasis on others view of ourselves and it seems to be polarized. Are you a beautiful doll who tries to be her/his best or an ugly face that only deserves pity? When you consider health and athleticism, "we" are competitive beasts. Skill levels are compared to others. Intelligence is graded on the IQ. Personality is judged by "normal" and DSM 5 diagnosis. It's too easy to rank yourself next to others. To listen to their critiques and criticisms. To believe that you're NOT as worthy as you truly are. It's REALLY REALLY hard to silence those voices. Maybe "beauty" is simply ... being.
  20. come on mods.... move this to SC before I break my self imposed restriction. [repeats to herself] Do NOT waste your time. Some people CAN NOT and WILL NOT understand. Do NOT debate with them...
  21. Incredible. Simply an inspiring man.
