Whaaa? I was 9, gimme a break.... So you're saying that you want me to call you a "boy"?
-
There ya go. Nutting wrong with that. (except the gas bill at the end of the month)
-
Umm... yeah. We were also talking about men in high heels.....
-
-where's the little green envious icon....
-
Huh? United States Air Force motto was "Aim High" (but now changed to "Cross to the Blue")... just kidding on the Army/Air Force thing... Maybe the British services play nicer with each other.....
-
Ahhh.... "army"... that explains a lot. (Need to learn to "Aim High"er)
-
It'd be a combination of the first two. I dont really know as it's never *cough* happened to me. *cough-bullshit-cough* But what you're saying is that the way to get away from a guy is to try to run away in heels and confuse/amuse them?! And doesn it work for guys trying to get away from guys too?
-
I don't even want to know! I'm curious now.... was it made more difficult cuz you were laughing too hard, or watching her legs/ass too much, or just that she could run that much better than you even in heels.....

3am, someone's in the house, sword drawn "WHO THE F ARE YOU!"
kbordson replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
It still concerns me that he was in and walking around for such an extended time. Did you (like the bachelors in the "It takes a Thief") leave the front door unlocked? Is there a problem with the bolt? Was it a window? Prevention here.... Not how to respond to the kid, burgler/prowler, potential ner-do-well... If he can't make it IN the house, you don't have to worry about what to do with him there. The show (as I said), nicely jacked up the security of the house, only to have the owner leave the front door unlocked (I was just running to the store) -
Injury stats for jumping...where?
kbordson replied to Guru312's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Maybe there aren't many blond football players. (And shame on you for that thought, aren't you a MD?) Dr.s can still be make jokes at the silly little blonde cheerleader persona.... Still treat them while shaking their heads disappontingly... -

though it does show that those numbers are more dangerous than the numbers you had on skydiving, and these are emergency room incidents but is taken in 1996 I was gonna say that if a Cheerleader fell and bonked her noggin, the the concussion might never be noticed... but then I saw that football was that much higher.... so there goes that logic. -

Just finished watching "It Takes a Thief" on Discovery. Damn!!! What a disconcerning show!!! Made me kinda think of this thread and how the guy got into your house and was wandering about for a bit. It's amazing how vulnerable we (the plural we) truly are. Whether it's on the dz in just an RV or in a "secure" old family style house. The one thief got into this older style bachelor pad and easily got over 100k in personal items (including passports, bank stuffs, and everything for identity - but besides that who the hell keeps a Piccaso in the closet?!). Then called his buddy on a cell phone to get some help to move it. Whole job in 10min, 15 sec! Not saying that I want to become paranoid... but made me think about security a bit more.... I don't have a lot of stuff that I couldn't live without... but I would have to kick someones ass if some of the truly "personal" and meaningful things were lifted. Thing is, they wouldn't know or care about the sentimental value of the stuffs. Damn... I'm still annoyed! (and it wasn't even my stuff/house!) Besides... it annoys me that they are so casual with putting "how to break into" on TV! As if there aren't enought people out there already capable of doing it... now they show how easy it could be for those that didn't know.... NO!!! Don't tell the general population that. But one of the funnier parts was after the show pumped up the security of the house... the thief still got back in cuz the owner forgot to lock the front door!!!! (the thief bet the moderator that it would be unlocked... "they're bachelors, right?") -
Contact your local DZ or the DZs near where the med schools to which you have applied. Find out if there's some way to do a concise program. If not, then contact the bigger dz's.. I don't know if Z-Hill, Elsinore, SDC, or Crosskeys might have a way to do an AFF course in the limited vacation that you would be getting. Once you have your A, then you still have to do the jumps to stay current. If not, then you would have to do a recurrency jump. (which might mean a little extra money) In this situation, I probalby wouldn't buy gear yet, until you know that you can get your A and jump more regularly. You don't know what canopy you will be ready for, need, want, ect.... But remember, I am a newbie. I only have a little over a hundred jumps. I know what I had to do to get my A, but I was blessed with good friends. With the info on the limited ability to jump, do any of the AFF instructors or bigger names than me have anything more to add....

(or you could just get a Mac and not worry about this silliness....)

Find out if there's a medical school around you that participates in medical missions. I took lots of stuff down to Guatemala when I went there. In fact, everything that we used we had to take down with us. or try here Medical Mission

I'm a third year resident in OB/GYN (4yr program). I did my first jump right at graduation from medical school, so I can't really tell you much about jumping while in medical school. And then I had NO time during my intern year to jump (this was prior to federal regulations - no 80 hr work week restrictions at that time) Most of my jumps have been in the last year and a half, and part of the reason they are low is cuz of hours at the hospital, and partly cuz I live in KC. Just learn to enjoy each and every one!! Remember though... if you are going to try to do both- you need to concentrate!! Boards are important! So that means study hard especially in the first two years. The residency programs do look at them at interview time. I know they're just numbers, but they are important numbers. Also good letters of recommendations are important (which means you have to put in extra time and committment during your 3rd and 4th year rotations). But on the other hand... skydiving is important too. You need to learn the emergency procedures, need to know what to do and when... no thinking about the kreb cycle when you have a mal.... you have to be able to let the school go during that time. If you can't, then don't risk it. Skydiving is worth it to me. You have to figure that out for yourself and balance it. There is time for both, but you just have to be smart about when. You will have some months that KICK your tail!!! and others are quite a bit nicer (like this one for me....). but it all goes fast. Good Luck! edit to add that I was also taught by one of my best friends and one of the best skydivers that I have known (Paul Rafferty, God rest his soul). He was very helpful in arranging for me to have a concise and more focused opportunity to learn the info and complete the requirements (cuz of needing to take vacation to do that and to go some place to get the jumps necessary) I had a unique opportunity and realize that the same situation isn't available to everyone. If you have difficulty getting the time needed... (depending on where you get accepted and work hours and ..) try to make arrangements with one of the larger dz's to do your aff there.... (if that's at all possible)

Now you boys behave while I'm gone.... and you KNOW that GFD is in charge.....

What is the average airspeed velocity of an unladened swallow... African? (dude, I was so happy lurking while charting... wth... I need to stop getting sucked in...) Hey... I just realized - I included skydiving ("airspeed"), sex ("swallow") and travel in that quesiton... It's all in there. the answer MUST be 42!

I doubt "ugly" is what the guys would be thinking...... Besides, you have enough spunk. You could just walk away like you meant to do that.
