Hoka He: Commonly believed translation "It's A Good Day to Die." More proper understaning of the Lakota phrase means "I have let go of the past and am ready to move forward fully and completely" A goal every day... but not one I have mastered yet. Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreicate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as this is all there is. Mary Anne Radmacher "I swear by my life, and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine." John Galt (Ayn Rand) "Hold stick near center of its length. Moisten pointed end in mouth. Insert in tooth space, blunt end next to gum. Use gentle in-out motion." "It seemed to me that any civilization that had so far lost its head as to need to include a set of detailed instructions for use in a package of toothpicks, was no longer a civilization in which I could live and stay sane" - Wonko the Sane Karen

Crazy psycho lady on Trading Spouses this Wednesday

I got stuck watching that show once. It was like a train wreck, I couldn't look away... thinking to myself - "this CAN NOT be real!" It's horrid what "reality tv" is and how its just become mindless chaos and noise. The whole premise of the show.... SWAPPING wives! You're with someone because you like them, why go and mess with that?! And they don't even do "wifely" duties..... what's the point of the swap?! But.... that's just my thoughts. Springer is still on for a reason. -
Are you content with how you've lived your life?
kbordson replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in The Bonfire
Excellent thoughts!! And well expressed! Only thing to comment on is that I would gaze into my bellybutton to find the lint to make those dust bunnies for under my bed... cute little dust bunnies. -
Ah.. there's many that he hasn't asked. Maybe he has more discerning tastes than he gets credit for. Besides, proposing to a mere 100 women out of the female world population of 3,040,335,100 (approx as of July 200). Hell... thats only 0.00032% of the potential targets... or ummm.... opportunities.. The bragging rights or "done that, got the T-shirt" attitude does play, but I think that theres a lot more to the decision. Most people either LOVE it, or were intimidated by the experience. And this feeling can be influenced by the TM but doesn't really mean it's his/her fault if they don't come back next week. There is A LOT of info on that first jump. It is info overload and takes a bit to process it. And either you like that feeling of trying to control chaos or you don't. Some people delay the time from their first tandem to the AFF and lots of reasons can cause that delay- time, money, family, cleaning up legal stuffs (ie feeling the need to ensure the paperwork such as wills, DPOA ect is done) Mine was all due to time, I made my first jump right at graduation.... then became an intern - ABSOLUTELY NO TIME that year. Started AFF during my second year of residency. But whatever the reason for not continuing - at least they got to dance in the sky for a little bit

Good post. Things I try to remember to do - smile, say "hello," educate, encourage. Do I do each item every day - not always, but it is a goal. I have kind of conflicting views on this though. I think its important to help others, but ultimately if you're not happy, it's your responsibility to change your life to make it better. Only you know what you need to make your life meaningful... some one flashing the pearly whites might lighten the mood, but wont cure a depression. One person might bring joy, but that person could change or move or die... so placing all your depndance on that person is foolish. So basically, people should strive to be selfsufficient, but that shouldn't stop someone from being "good."

I'm hoping that the Sun is of the similiar journalistic quality as the Enquirer. As far as the picture goes, I'm hoping that it was an image stolen from a vet file or something of a dog that accidently had its nose pierced. I find it hard to believe that someone would acutally use a live dog as bait for sharks. How little compassion would that person have? How sad of a statement. And I agree with the reflection of why that would be a bad thing... also acknowledging that some cultures eat dog. I feel that the reason it would be bad would be because of the cruelty associated with that practice. Knowing that the dog will be bitten and helpless and in pain/distress for the last moments of its life. UNACCEPTABLE cruelty... so that's why I still don't want to believe that article is true. Karen

Eeeuuuugh...... But on a similar train of thought - picking scabs leads to more scar formation, and there was a theory that scars on guys are sexy, so do guys pick scabs to get the girls or does the picking scars get the girls?

True............ Remi..........you aren't even CLOSE to good looking enough! Not wooly enough? Not Baaad enough?

hmmm.... I was just noticing and I don't think your list is complete... shouldn't slotperfect also be listed?

OK... ummm... why aren't we allowed to say "nuttin"? Yeah, I can wear the black dinner gown or the casual shorts and a tank, but my "favorite" would be relaxing at home "comfortable." On guys.... again, the tux looks nice, jeans are good, but what's wrong with just natural?

I AM AGNOSTIC AND HAPPY TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
kbordson replied to freethefly's topic in Speakers Corner
I feel that the "Church" or organized religion is different from a belief in God. In the former, man has taken that belief and "standardized" it. And often times applied restrictions and laws to use it as a control for the people. The latter is ones thoughts and perosonal beliefs. "God" can represent many different organized religion beliefs - christian, jewish, muslim, hindu, pagan and even agnositc. Each of these might profess a belief in God - but a very different "religion" for each. So a better question would be Do you associate the word "God" with organized religion? -

I'm amazed people still fall for this BS. Explain better why you feel that way... don't just throw snide comments. The life you live has a LOT to do with the choice that YOU've made. There are outside influences and poverty is a major one for some, but ultimately it's your life. If you're not happy living somewhere, move - out of that apartment, out of that city, out of the counrty. Don't just sit there blaming the government for not giving you more than your neighbor. If you're not happy doing some job, work to get out of there... education is a choice. Not just talking formal educaiton, but also personal growth. If you feel otherwise, please share and defend. -

Here's a different one... a "true believer" willingly excommunicated by marrying a divorced man who had previously married in the church (no annulment). In the eyes of the church, he is still married to his first wife and the second wife is his adultress. So another way to Hell is to Believe, but not follow the "Church" Organized religion always seems to be something that can be twisted and manipulated to make the masses happy. Tell the sheep that if they come, if they give this money, if they beg and plead for their immortal soul... that they will be saved. So they sit in church on Sunday morning for an hour, donate a tithe so that there can be a pretty golden crucifix or a powerful pipe organ and pray for themselves - or if they're feeling charitable then they can also feel good about praying for someone else. But, if you don't like what that church says - change from Roman Catholic to Protestant or Baptist or even watch it on TV and send money there. Here's why I believe: -I do believe there is a Higher Power, a "God." I don't know all the questions, but I know that there are more intellegent answers to our existance. I have to believe that there is some reason to be, to love, to help. -I do believe there are angels among us. I have had situations where I know something that I didn't understand was happening. (One as recently as last Thursday where I had a HORRID day at work, was talking with a dear friends that is no longer with us, sharing with him some melodramatic desires... then I receive a a call - out of the blue- from his brother... at 9am on a Thurs, for no real reason.... yes, you could argue coincidence... but odd) -I do beleve in Right and Wrong.... but also know that there are many "grey" answers. But will the beliefs save an outcast?
