Christmas is frustrating... cuz I want to find the "RIGHT" gift for the right person... It's much easier to *find* something right when you're not looking. I love giving thing... but hate just giving random crap. I think I found what I want for my neice (4mos old)... a pair of slippers from a store that imports from Guatemala. So colorful and vivid... But... I haven't found her book yet. My nephew is harder. He's 12... and already has about EVERYTHING. I took him to the East Coast this past summer, so his book will be a scrapbook of that time... but the gift? Other friends... family... I walk around thinking of them... and then hope the right thing is there....

On the topic of the pay raise. NO. That's silly. So is cable TV and other extravagants. But with the discussion about respect for the inmates. ALL people, from the convicted felons to old Miss Smith down the street, deserve to be treated with some respect as a Human Being. Those in prison are paying the penalty for mistakes made (sometimes murder/homocide, sometimes white collar crime stuff). Not all are evil or scumbags... Hell... some are even innocent. People deserve to be treated like People. Doesn't mean that you spoil them... just don't make them less than a Human.

There's no proof... IF someone HAD written a book about bombing apartments in Chechnya and IF the organization blamed in the book took offense.... they might have done it. But... that's like saying "If I Did It" Sometimes there are things you can know.. but not prove.

Yes.... she used him. No, he did not deserve it. But... *SPOILER She wasn't doing it for money or power or greed.... she was doing it because they were holding her so hostage.... and then at the end... she basically was agreeing to die to let James live. Not really a "bitch" But I do understand his betrayal.
