OK... First - why just limit it to women. Granted generally you tend to see females raised in a more dependant role ("Here sweety, let Daddy do that." or "Once you find Prince Charming... you'll live happily everafter") But guys can be that way too. Second - Your ex doesn't sound "dumb" to me. She sounds more like a user, someone willing to be dependant on others for her life and happiness. Some people are just users, looking to get whatever their "significant other" or work or government will give to them... And... it sounds like, up to a point, she had it pretty good - counted on you to take care of everything - gas, cigarettes, money..... Until you were gone... so not really so "smart" by that account... but look at all the work she got out of you at what cost to her? So maybe kinda smart - on a short term gain view. Now if YOU were smart... you would learn from this and begin to believe: The world will change when you are ready to pronounce this oath: I swear by my Life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man[sic], nor ask another man[sic] to live for the sake of mine.

Glad you got the care you need. I't amazing how things are different in other countries. Peru was fun... One of the docs in our group got sick at the end (after we had depeleted most of our supplies) so I just went to the pharmacy. No scripts. No verification of who I was or my education just tourist American looking. But basically got to just shop off the shelf for what IV I wanted, what meds to use... and ended up paying maybe $5 total. Got back to the hotel and took care of him. Big eye opener about how different things are.

Rather inflamed and flush with the vaginal vault... but could be... [shakes head] still thinking WTH!

ok... was that .... a syphilitic chancre on the anterior surface of the vaginal vault? Even being an OB/Gyn... I still looked at that thing "WHAT THE HELL!"

Not quite that far... but I was wearing underarmour pants for my workout this morning.. and it had the little flapie things in the front... and I just wondered "that would be odd to maneuver through and still pee...."

I agree. Truman. Stong values. Very difficult time for the Nation during his term in office. But... I also admire Lincoln. Not just because of the Emancipation Proclamation, but rather for his larger view on the United States of America. Other great presidents: George Washington, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan

Time's Person of the Year 2006 is the lamest thing I've ever heard.
kbordson replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
Stoopid Editor.... must have took out my sentence on Dropzone.com. (cuz you know.... If I'm the person of the year - I would have given a nod to all ya'alls!) -
I'd like to have an M198 for home/self defense. I'm not quite sure how to go about acquiring one, though. I think that to posses it .... Need to start with a type 1 FFL license (ATF website) [or maybe.... a C&R (curio and relic) license (read Chapter 11 of the book referenced below)]. Then you need to contact the NFA Branch (National Firearms Act Branch). Get the forms for Type 09 dealer, Type 10 manufacturer or Type 11 importer FFL license to allow you to deal in destructive devices. Then there's the Destructive Device license itself from the ATF (only $3000 for a three year license ATF but those are 1999 pricings.) And there's all the questions on what is and isn't a destructive device. For further clarification: refer to Chapter 23 of Machine Gun Dealers Bible by Dan Shea And not only the Howitzer but also each round (because it's over 50cal.) is considered a destructive device and has a $200 tax per item. And they're hard to carry around. You can play with the big dogs... but you just gotta be willing to pay.

Can I be FOZZZYYY BEEEAR

OK... so, you actually started a thread about how others need to get a life.... what could be said to that? Um.... maybe read your own posts. And ... I'm serious here. My advice... be thankful for the people who have helped you (as you stated) but let the other people live their lives they way they see fit.

Circumcision reduces HIV infection rate by 50% in Africa
kbordson replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
I've already said that I would most likely NOT have a male child of mine circed - that there gives my opinion of the procedure. But... as a doctor (since you felt the need to bring that up), the FGM has so many other issues that a male circ does not. They are two seperate procedures. Two very different situations. NOT apples to apples. -

kbordson replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
There are several difference between male circumcisions and female circumcisions. First, the time frame in which the procedure is preformed. Male - typically at 24-48hrs of age. Female - typically 5-8yo. (but can vary depending on the traditions) Next the location of the procedure. Male - hospital environment, sterile conditions. Most use some form of local anesthetic. Female - done in local community (unless the family has enough money to go to the hospital), non sterile, often no anesthetic and requires other family members to restrain the girl. Finally, longterm implications. Male - less sensitivity with intercourse. Female - psychological impact, sexuality issues/pain on initiation of intercourse, adverse obstetric outcomes Info on female circumcisioin/FGM: World Health Organization I'm not saying that male circumsion is ok (and in fact, if I had a male child, I would most likely decline the circ)... but comparing it to female genital mutilation is NOT apples to apples.
