This is the answer... but they seem too lazy to decide on any policy. When I took my nephew to DC this past summer, we went to a Senate vote. Very dissappointed with how many were present. I truly believe that the Presidental Position (whether it be Bush, or Clinton or whomever) has as much real power as the Queen. (ok... maybe a little more... but it doesnt seem to have much). I think this speech was just trying to help the morale of those either over there now or those soon to be leaving.

Was this a scheduled Address to the Nation or does anyone know why now would be a good time for a speech? Is it in support of the decision to send more troops? Is it to draw attention away from something else? I honestly believe that Douglas Adams had it right when he said that the role of the President was to draw attention away from those truly in charge.....

So.... I am still confused. What was your intent with this thread? In public discussions.... one generally has communicative goals. By looking above, yours were either to A. insult a Nation that you don't understand (and seem to refuse to even try to understand our thinking) B. just state your opinion. C. encourage thoughtful consideration. You've given examples IN YOUR OWN WORDS of each. It's not your English skills that I'm questioning (cuz your English is MUCH better than my Danish). I questioning your COMMUNICATION skills. If you were trying to intelligently discuss, it was VERY UNWISE to start the thread with such a negative and insulting slant toward America. I'm not saying "WE ARE PERFECT!!!" Far from it... but when you start the thread with an attacking stance, you're not going to get a lot of support. I took offense to your attitude. I honestly once had one of the patients hit on me at the STD clinic that I volunteered at. And he was so arrogant about it all!! It was hard not to laugh at the poor guy. "Ummm... no. But, now how about I stick this lil q-tip....."

Nope. This man was Cha Vang - The article describes him as a refugee immigrant with a wife and five children, who was out hunting for small game. (the incident two years ago was with Chai Soua Vang) Don't know if there was any family connection. Speculation will just lead to assumptions. They have someone they are holding for questioning... but who knows if he had anything to do with it or if he was just injured himself at the wrong time.
