  1. No.... we're just annoyed by the every increasing demands and insinuations that we aren't good enough as we are.... "pluck your eyebrows" "shave your underarms" "shave your legs" "shave...." and now "shave your arms"?! It's just good that there are so many guys out there worth all that effort and maintenance.
  2. I am corrected. It is the SAME duckie from side view and FRONT view. (not back view)... I guess I was just expecting the back view
  3. Nope. I guess I don't have "the balls" to own up to it. Or it just aint my fault. Like I said, yesterday, I tried to talk about hardwood floors, but the guys were just wanting to discuss sanders and stuff cuz their time was important. (insert ooohhh and ahhhs that represent my level of impressednesss for their time.)
  4. I tried to talk about hardwood floors and got chastized cuz the guys just want to talk about sanders. WTF!
  5. Cyndi, I became a nurse in 1993 and been a Dr. since 2002. I have seen many people die (some family members that it tore me up not to resuscitate, some patients that we worked HARD to resuscitate.) The WORST phrase that I know - "Time of Death: " Even though we learn, and we work and we try.... sometimes we do not have the power to change what will be. That fact is humbling and can make you feel very inadequate. It can make you question your knowledge (I wasn't smart enough), your skill (If I had done this different) and your character (I shouldn't be joking). . . . It can and will drain some. It's a VERY difficult profession. It's not just pushing paper or submitting proposals . . . it's someones LIFE. And sometimes it's hard to separate the "YOU" from that. So... when there are bad outcomes (nice euphemism for he/she dies), you do tend to take it personally. You might try not to, you might learn to distance yourself emotionally.... but it still might hurt. And there is no "how should I feel." As mentioned above - there are different ways to cope with that. Humor (even morbid humor) is one way. Talking. Escaping (mentally or phyically doing something where you don't have to think about it - ie dz.com, exercising, skydiving, reading) Religion, Rationalizing - All are valid mechanisms.... avoid the drinking (even the rum) - during those times, it won't make you feel "better", it just might numb it for a bit.
  6. Home life is on a mac. Business is on a PC. I LOVE my mac, I HATE my pc. Now... might the the program that I'm running on my pc that is slower than shit and keeps crashing, might just be that it's associated with work.... might be the 10min powerup/shutdown on the pc.... but I would much prefer to be on the mac. (for everything - photoshop, itunes, web, word processing, powerpoint, . . . yup, pretty much all that I would want out of a computer)
  7. Nope. The OB/Gyn. And I have a WONDERFUL guest bedroom with a large sleigh bed and a down comforter for those fucking freeeeeeeeeeezing mornings!
  8. Rock this Bitch!! (and for the confessions topic - I like to rely on caffeine and acetaminophen.)
  9. I've been there all day long. Something about sleep deprivation I should have napped.
  10. Depends on if you're "discussing" or "venting" or "asking." Typically I would want the truth, but sometimes I do know the truth and just want someone to listen.
  11. Besides.... is it really hijacking a thread on hardwood floors by discussing hardwood floors?
  12. I hear there's a new bed and breakfast type place!! I would say try here (and for the record - nope not fired, in fact just the opposite. WAY too busy. And this is my day off after 5 HARD days /nights on call with silly people asking truly STUPID questions at all hours ("can I have an elective surgical procedure at 6pm on Saturday on a Holiday weekend?" kinda tops the list) and just use DZ.com as a deep breath, decompress and NOT be serious about life. Now if some choose to get a bug up their ass about the VERY important and life shattering question that they posted on a skydiving forum. . . specifically one KNOWN for being rather focused on EFS.... I think its his/her uncarefuls.)
  13. To really address some of your concerns, it would depend on which school you're looking at applying to, where you got your undergrad at and what classes you actually took. I did my first year in engineering and then switched that to nursing and then 5yrs later went to medical school. I had to look at the schools that I was applying to and specifically identify what the pre-req's were and had to take a class or two as a nurse to meet all the requirements (and it was actually "lucky" that I had done that first year in Engineering cuz calc based physics was actually a pre-req in a couple of the med schools that I applied to). But the important part is getting the information on your specific options and understanding the tasks that you need to complete to get there.
  14. Well..... who doesn't want to talk about hardwood floors?
  15. OK... with this being the Bonfire. Just wondering when not to hijack a thread. (personally there's really only one answer)
  16. I would (wood?) hope that you don't because i really want some good info on getting this project under way. My time is very limited to say the least.. today is/ was suposed to be my day off and a few things have crept into my free time.. I don't have alot of time to accomplish things these days and wadeing thru a bunch of dz.drama is a waste to me. obviously you're not picking up on the double entendre... either that or don't understand that posting in the bonfire tends to lead to less than educational posts... Maybe you should visit here if you want REAL info. Just like I have to accept the medical post that get hijacked... this is the bonfire. or here or here or this is an actual tutorial.
  17. The weiner mobile is COOL! I've actually gotten to ride in it (once) (Madison, WI has an Oscar Meyer Factory (?)/ Plant (?) ... what the hell would you call that complex?)
  18. Only six posts so far.... and actually useful content..... do I hijack this thread on "hardwood floors"?
  19. mmmm. OK. So I see just replying to this thread satisfies that mission.
  20. Chris It's devastating when someone close passes on. The pain is overwhelming at times. I wish you comfort. Karen
  21. I am SO GLAD that it's MONDAY! I NEED a day off now. These past five days aged me at least into my 110's! Now I just need to do something immature to get back to "normal"
  22. That was GREAT!!! If there's motorbike racing, why not motorhome racing? (now where do I find a bunch of RV's and adventure seekers to drive them?)

    wish me luck

How competely wonderful sounding!! I'm sure it will be A LOT of work, but hopefully you'll get a lot of joy from this venture and will meet LOTS of interesting people to share stories and break bread with. (but... for some reason, Fawlty Towers keeps popping to mind )
