How many jumps for skydiving respect?
GQ_jumper replied to llkenziell's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've yet to meet someone who does 50 jumps a year who has any skills worth learning, regardless of the amount of time they've spent in the sport. You know what, everytime I jump with someone who just got their A I learn something, I learn something about motivation, about having a positive attitude, and most of all they usually teach me a thing or two about humility(anyone that knows me personally can tell you I could use a little more of it). I'm sorry that you're so good that the only people worthy enugh to jump with you are coaches, because I feel that I've gotten worlds better by jumping with the Air force cadets at Mile-Hi with only 40 jumps to their name in the last year, I've learned a lot about having a positive attitude and having patience, not to mention they are so thankful when you just go out and have a good time with them regardless of whether or not the jump goes as planned, I'll take someone in the real of beginners like myself over a "skygod" any day. At least you will be able to hear a woman proposition you.Quote Is there a setting that allows it to filter out the ugly ones? Actually it really hit me how bad it was the other day when I was having a conversation with a friend, I was wearing one of those under armor beanies, and I realized that anytime someone would start talking to me without even thinking about it I would pull up the side closer to them and tuck it over my ear just so I could understand what they said. Man this is bad, I'm only 25!! My cell phone doesn't get nearly loud enough either. Oh well, I guess someday when I have a daughter and she's old enough to start dating(when she turns 30) she won't be bothered by guys not listening to her because she'll be used to it already History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. You know I really haven't looked at an Accord yet, and it's been mentioned in here a few times, I'll have to check it out. I appreciate all teh input from everyone. My criteria for cars was; good on gas, reliable over an extended period of ownership, and still something I can enjoy, the Camry just sort of fit the bill, I was looking into hybrids but for he type of driving I do I really wouldn't be saving all that much on gas, so when you factor in how much more I would have to pay for the hybrid engine it wasn't worth it, and the tax incentive for hybrid ownership is only 2K. As for having fun with driving, really, until you can buy car without anti-lock breaks standard, you are kind of screwed anyways, the big things with that are solid steering, breaks you can lock up and a hand brake. i've got some good video around here somewhere of me having a little fun with some hatch backs we bought over in Iraq. That big dirt parking lot about 2 miles down the road from the DZ in Eloy has been a great place to have a little fun with rental cars as well History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Here's your AARP card. JMO, boooring but overall very reliable. Never owned one myself though. Quote You know I used to think that too until I took a look at em yesterday, the SE(their sport coupe version) looks pretty sharp, has a great lookin interior, lasts a long time, and has just enough sexy mixed in there with it all It'll last me a while and I can still pick up chicks with it History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Any auto maker's web-site has a "build-your-own" functionQuote Yeah they may all have a build your own function but do they all have THE CONFIGURATOR?? I THINK NOT I may have to take a peak at some of the other cars you guys are mentioning, thanks for your time. But for now I'm off to watch the Denver game. GO DENVER!!! I don't know about the Accord but I do know that if you go onto the Toyota website you can build your on the CONFIGURATOR. I don't care what you're buying that just sounds cool, I'm sold, I'm buying whatever I can from the CONFIGURATOR History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. oh, about 50-50 ! Quote Really cause I heard the 67.98 percent of the time the reserve works every time. And then there are those of us who already have hearing damage and need the dytter to be as loud as possible just to hear it Seriously though like someone else said, once it's in the helmet and you're in freefall it seems like it's just the right volume. You said you guys have 3 out of 4 people on the team, if everyone is able to maybe you could think about scheduling an AS coach to fly as the fourth member of the team, basically you'd be doing a camp with a player coach team. My IC and I did that last year, we only had two of us but found a friend down in Eloy who was more than happy to step in and fill the third slot. the 1 on 1 followed by 3 on 1 (if you can afford it) sounds fantastic..... Quote the 3 on 1 does get a bit pricy but it's worth every penny if you really have high aspirations in the sport History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I've heard great things about both of those camps, I think Billvon has been to one of the 2 on 2 camps maybe you could drop him a PM and get a first hand account of it. I just looked at their schedule though and it looks like their 2 on 2 is booked up. I've done one of their basic skills camp, a 4 way tunnel camp with my IC and a friend of ours, a 2 on 2, and a couple of 3 on 1 camps and I have loved every one of them. I'd have to say that the most productive ones were the 3 on 1 camps, just because I was the only student in the group. Having three coaches doin 4 way with you ensures that you are getting to see how evrything is supposed to be done in a perfect world. It also pushes you more when you are the one setting the pace, you're only as fast as your slowest flyer and when that's you it sort of forces you to move outside your comfort zone. Hope his helps. Hey Kolla, Thanks for the post but I was wondering if you could tell us a bit more about the new fabric having less strength. I understand you guys have taken steps to mitigate the risk of damage to the canopy on opening but how much of a difference is there really in the durability of the fabric. I thought I read an article about a year ago that said this new type of fabric was almost as strong if not sligthly better than what's used now. That's the nature of the beast when posting on DZ.com, didn't you know that!?!? You could post a message to your best friend sayin, "hey bro i haven't seen ya in a while, I missed ya", and someone would reply with, "that's f*ckin' Bullsh@t, what the hell is your problem with Icarus canopies?"
