*rolls eyes* maybe we should also ban rubber bands, I used to get nailed in high school with paper clips shot by rubber bands. Another knee jerk reaction, if they didn't have the samuri swords it would have been bats or butchers knives, what are we going to do make everyone register bats and kitchen knives. I don't. You've got a guy with a knife who is in the process of demonstrating that he knows how to use and will use it - because he IS using it. One of my rules of intervention is, "Thou shalt not enter a knife fight with bare hands." Would any other unarmed citizen be expected to face a guy using a knife? Quote From what I can pull from the story though there were multiple people honking and yelling, so the attacker was outnumbered. IMO those people had a responsibility to intervene and save anothers life, but I guess courage isn't common anymore. What kind of pathetic knife can you use to stab someone 10 (or is it 20???) times and have them come out in "good condition"? Quote There is only a handful of areas on the body where a knife wound will be fatal nless it goes untreated, just having a big knife doesn't guarantee a kill, and on the flipside look at how small some of the shanks are that are used in prisons, only an inch or two long and still effective in killing people. It's about knowing the anatomy, not the size of the knife. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

The Army medical facilities were not prepared for the influx of wounded from this war Quote You are correct in this statement Kallend, but you can't forget that when we go to war we can't wait for the army we want to have, you go with what you've got. From 2nd degree murder to a speeding ticket
GQ_jumper replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
The investigation said he was doing 5MPH over when the accident happend. So he was doing 50, not 95Quote Another thing to add to that, yes the box said at one point he was going 95, but it in no way attempts to explain why. We don't know why he was going that fast, maybe he was responding to something at that point and was driving on a highway at the time. Maybe he was trying to catch up with someone he had clocked speeding. That fact that he was going 95 at soem point during the night is in no way pertinent to the story. The reporter simly threw it in to make the story a bit bigger, nice job by the reporter trying to add pointless facts to make their story more attractive History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. GQ, if the conditions you live in are filthy, I reccommend you grab a bucket and swab and change the condition.Quote Last time I checked when I lived in WWII era barracks we worked our asses off every day to keep them clean, the places were just falling apart, nothing we could do about it, but we still made the best of what we had. Like I said, welcome to the military, the public will give a shit about this for about a month or two, and then when the news coverage stops, the public will forget all about it and focus on Britney's new hair cut or Anna Nicole's kid but the conitions at WR will still be shitty. People in the military are never given the kind of treatment they work for, especially in the Army. It's funny how people bitch about not wanting to spend more money on the military and at the same time bitch about how the conditions aren't good enough, last time I checked it takes money to improve conditions. In case anyone is interested this is how soldiers live everywhere. There's a handful of vet's in here that can back me up on this. The living conditions when you are a soldier are sub-standard across the board. We make due, you should see some of the things we do to make our living quarters bearable. I spent my first year in the service living in a building that was built in WWII. When they remodeled it they repainted the walls and put new tile in the hallway where it was cracked. They called that bringing it up to standard. Welcome to the military, it's all about sacrifice and unfortunately one of those sacrifices is decent living conditions when you're hurt. Last year my resolution was to lose weight, when I came back from my last trip to Iraq I was 215, it was all lean, but that was just too much weight to carry around. I made it down to 180 just before Xmas. Since then I've let up a bit on my diet and workout program, it was getting to be too much, I was always hungry and always felt weak and drained. I'm back up around 190 but feel a lot better and am still in awesome shape. This year I decided to take a shot at my drinking. I no longer show up to work hungover, and don't party EVERY weekend, but when I do party, I go big! It's moving along, in small steps, and I do intend on getting back down to 180, I'm just going to take my time a bit more time so I don't lose so quick I feel sick and drained. Now, my next vice to tackle, clothes, if I could only find some way to stop myself from buying insanely expensive clothes, I'd be good. My roommate did a great job of helping me this year by forcing me into debt but I'm working my way back into the black and will soon be shopping at the Armani outlets once again History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. My teammate asked me a good question this morning that I couldn't answer. He wanted to know the oldest DZ in the US, he said Raeford, I thought it was in SOCal, I know Elsinore goes back a ways, I did a little searching and got half an answer. I know the oldest DZ still in operation is in the NW, but if anyone could tell me where it al began in the US that would be great. Thanks all. It's not all too often you see anyone get less than a 9, I agree that his performance was far less than inspiring but his defense on the ground put a stop to Randy's GNP. I think that's what got him the 9's. Either way, Sylvia's done as the champ and there's finally someone deserving at the top. Are they letting you take your pooch into work again? Quote NO She still has to stay home, although since today's a sunday and I came in to pack my bags she's sitting at my feet since there is no one else here to say anything. I have to take her to my parents place next week so they can watch her while I'm deployed so I'm trying to spend as much time with her as I can.
