Wouldn't it be better if the bad citizens were fearful that the good citizens were "carrying"? Quote That's an interesting way of looking at it, but definitely a good question. My take on it is that a deterrent works just as good if not better, why have a reactive self-defense measure when you could have a pro-active one. If it came to the point where criminals didn't know which potiential "victims" were armed and which weren't then there would be less need to use the firearms. So I moved out of my house sunday night and into the team room at work. I was supposed to be well on my way overseas by now but the plane got pushed back and I'm getting tired of sleeping on a couch. I've decided that I'm gonig to find a bed to sleep in tonight no matter how much I have to work for it, so anyone with a lady friend willing to share, send em my way, I'm a hard worker in bed and I don't snore I'll post references and a resume shortly History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems that Groove will be present this weekend... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is the lineup going to be the same as it was at nats -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shouldn't that team lineup be given a plane with a taller door? Just to keep it fair. Quote I think you may have something with that one Well this meet is getting better and better, but as much as I love watching that crew fly I don't think they'll be able to keep up with the teams who have been training consistently up to this point. To the best of my knowledge they haven't been training since nats. We'll see though, unfortunately I'm not going to find out how the meet went until mid next week my flight out of country was pushed back so I'll be in the air over the weekend On that note, I'm also living on a couch at work til we leave, so if anyone knows any rich ladies with a comfy bed that are in the market for a boy toy for a few days, send em my way please History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Is the lineup going to be the same as it was at nats because there was a rumor that some of the members were going to be flying with Optic Nerve. Oh come on now, more is better History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

I voted Fastrax. Quote I saw their training jumps from the V day draw and they're looking quick, but they also looked a bit rushed on some of the jumps, not quite as relaxed as AS's jumps. Add in the competition stress and that may cause a few busts. I think the cleaner flying style that AS is showing will pay off, I could be wrong though Fastrax put up a good fight at nats and Thomas is more than capable of filling that IC slot. Thanx for all the info on the 750, I've only had a handful of jumps out of the one at Raeford and hadn't really gotten to try and 4 or 8 way out of it yet History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

The first three have already confirmed that they will be in the competition, the Deland boys haven't confirmed if they're going to come out and do a team for this meet yet to my knowledge but I'm sure there's enough of you out there that are keeping your fingers crossed so we'll put 'em in the line-up I believe a few European teams may make an appearance so go ahead and throw the names out there. I'll do my usual breakdown of the competition later tonight, but at the moment I'm trying to move out of my house so I just wanted to get the polls going

Like these other guys are saying, be sure to get something with a long barrel. After all, you won't be accurate at 100 feet with a short weapon and then where will you be when someone mugs you with a knife or breaks into your 100 foot long bedroom at night? 'Cause we all know sniper skills are critical for surprise combat self defense. Quote I've seen countless people throw rounds into the ground at 5 meters, having an accurate weapon that you can hande is a must at any range. A small revolver will work, like the kind you can fit in an ankle holster, just be aware that as was mentioned before your shot group is going to be a bit bigger. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Officers Respond To Wrong Address; Homeowner Shot
GQ_jumper replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Funny. But lets ask the good Dr. and GQ a few questions shall we? GQ and Kallend: 1. Do you now, or have you ever had a job that required the use of a firearm? 2. Do you now, or have you ever received training in the use of a firearm? When was the last session? How much training do you think you have had? 3. Does your current job or any former job require you to perform functions such as arresting people? Now carmenc, you may think that I am "appealing to authority"...But one is an SF soldier trained in weapons and, when I was in, trained to act as a police officer in some situations. The other teaches physics. So if I have a physics question, I would take Kallend's answer over GQ's. But in this case I think GQ has the edge. YOU are free to get your information for any where you like. I tend to listen to those that have the training and experience. As for "ad hominem"...I am only returning fire: Quote This whole situation boils down to a couple of simple things, on the homeowners part: -don't be so eager to get out there with a weapon(conceal it) -identify the threat from a concealed location before appearing with a weapon -yield to the authorities when they approach you(and no this doesn't mean throwing your hands up, but if you were carrying a weapon it might not be a bad idea) and on the officers part: -make more of an effort to identify yourself -MAKE SURE YOU'RE AT THE RIGHT HOUSE History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. it's not a manly thing, it's a training thing). *** Bingo, training becomes instinct when you do it long enough, but the thousands of repititions it takes something to become intinct is unbelievable. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

You'd be amazed at what happens when you see a person(especially someone you care about) getting attacked. The few fights I've gotten into in recent years(not counting anything job-related) I didn't even realize I was throwing down, it just happened. My favorite story happened when I was 19, we were having a battalion sports day and one of the events was king of the ring. 10 against 10 from two different platoons and you have to throw someone outside of the circle of sand bags to get them eliminated, as soon as it started a group of guys all ganged up on me because I was one of the bigger ones on my team so I was out pretty quick. While I was watching from the sidelines one of my buddies was on his back with a guy in his guard, someone else came up and tried to unwrap my buddies legs to drag him out, my friend started kicking his leg to free it. This guy would never fight dirty so when the other guy got kicked in the face it was on accident, but he decided to punch my friend while he was pinned on his back and before I even realized what was going on I had cleared the 10+ feet between me and that guy and was laying him out to protect my buddy. Of course as soon as I dragged my friend to his feet we realized we had gotten ourselves in a bad situation because there were the two of us, about 4 other guys from my platoon behind me and 2 scouts that we were in tight with. The other side had a full rifle platoon(30+), when it was finally broken up none of my guys had a scratch, we of course were eliminated for throwing the first punch but the CO thought it was so cool that we'd go against the odds to protect one of our own like that he decided to give us a 3 day weekend

Where do you people get this information??? Quote My teammate was a prison guard so I've heard all kinds of stories about the weapons they build there. As for knowing what can kill someone and how, the cross training I've done with my team medic has really taught me a lot about what can and can't kill you. As for this situation, like I said before, it's a shame that everyone there stood by and watched as a woman was being attacked. Any man that was there should be castrated for watching not standing upfor her, IT'S A FUCKING KNIFE, they aren't that bad no matter how big and scary they look.
