I did not watch it, I did not see the link. You provided a link to the main news site but not to a clip with this politician. I am watching the clip with the father now, but I don't see a politician. In anycase, if the guy is using death to a political advantage, he is an asshat, but I don't see from what you have posted, how that is a "stance" against the "skydiving community?"
