  1. As of January 1 2005 I am going to give up skydiving, and put my gear up for sale. Its been a fun ride while its lasted, but in order to save what's left of my marriage i'm going to walk away from the sport. I wish it would not have come to this, but I guess this is the way things are going to have to be. I estimate that by the end of the month I'll have around 80 jumps, Hopefully no cutaways and no major injuries. I guess its not that bad for a year and a half in the sport. \ Blues Kai, "Perdido Llaves Rodriguez"
  2. yep, forgot about all that also, this has to all be considered before a desision is made, as to a perticular plane would be good for an individual or a corporation. thanks dave
  3. Ok, let me explain this a little bit to you. As per the numbers I've seen (not from the factory), a 750 will make more money per load with 4 jumpers in it due to the use of fuel and tac time then a 182 with 4 jumpers in it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- your not too smart are you?
  4. >>>I also do not know anything about the "stolen photos" on the web sites. How many of you accusers use stolen music on your videos? Kinda the same thing isn't it? I think the saying goes "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones..."
  5. I've had two problems with my neptune in 30 jumps. I still like it better over the protrack. Ofcourse I have both, the protrack in my helmet for an audible, and the neptune as a wrist mount. After my first jump with the neptune it wouldn't reset, or go back in to normal ground mode, it turns out it was a "static charge" on dead battery, but the unit showed a full life on the battery prior to my first jump. The second was a cracked screen, which Alti-2 replaced for free. Alti-2 rocks!! I like the neptune cause it tells you climb rate, switches between freefall and canopy mode automatically, tells decent rate under canopy. I perticularly like the canopy mode cause I learning to swoop, and I can tell how fast different turns are on my canopy.
  6. Do you know if it is possibal for the twisted risers to be so tight thay can pinch, or to compress the hard housing inserts thus also preventing a cutaway?
  7. most of the RW people I have met are recoverded alcholics or ex crackheads all steming from the 70's. they swoop there batwings- heatwaves with fury thinking they are cool. Most of the freeflyiers I have met are reserved and only party in small groups with others like them. I dont know if this is a change of the times, or just a sign of change. Just because some freeflyer gets drunk and takes all of his clothes off and jumps in to the bonfire dosen't mean some RW dude in the seventies hasen't already tried it! lol
  8. thats not what i wanted to hear.... o well i'll still be looking around for places though.
  9. HI all, I am thinking about retiring my tempo 170, it has a couple of deployments on it and a number of repacks, maufacture date is '93. I currently jump a wings W-10. Which states that a PDR 160 or a Tempo 170 will fit tight. Of course I want the biggest reserve I can fit in it. So do any of you guys know weather a Smart 160 or a 170 will be the size for my contianer? I have an email into wings about this but I do not expect a reply till monday, Areodyne has a 40% off X-mas gear sale and I want to place my order quickly, any info would be greatly appricated. blue ones, simmy
  10. >>I have some girlfriends who are experienced tandem jumpers. (Hope they aren't reading this) I own my own tandem equipment, have the appropriate ratings and provide all gear. I've jumped at many DZ's with this configuration, and all just charge us for the slots. We've made jumps at Rantoul, Skydive Texas, Sky's the limit, Beeville, Texas, Skydive Houston, Skydive Spaceland, Marana Skydiving Center, Taft, Skydive San Marcos (That was just a favor for a soldier, but thanks Phil) Skydive USA and Moss Point. (Had a great time at every place, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU) Today, however, after traveling many miles to visit an out of town place I was shocked to find that the DZO wanted an extra FIFTY BUCKS for us to make a jump together. I talked him down to 25, made the jump and left. Instead of us getting several jumps, we had to leave or go broke jumping. Should an experienced jumper be charged EXTRA just because she chooses only to ride on a tandem, and the DZ does NOT provide any of the gear?
  11. the lines were cut by a paramedic who arrive before any of the other jumpers. I think the manufacture has gone out of business (?) Does anyone know who can reline these canopies and maybe the cost? thank you.
  12. http://www.soaringsports.com/ot.htm Edited by slotperfect to make the link clicky!
  13. >>There's something else which has been mentioned that I need to consider, especially since I don't really have a "home" DZ. Who has some idea of how many dropzones will or will not allow me to jump at 1.2 with under 100 jumps? Any instructors or JMs want to inform me of their personal/DZ's rule?
  14. >>I have been doing my own research, I just finished reading every post in the incident forum where the term "wingloading" was mentioned. It seems that most of them are people flying ellipticals at obscenely low experience levels, etc. There aren't many incidents posted that are jumpers of my experience and proposed wingloading, but those seem to be caused by low turns
  15. >>Hey knock it off, what's the point of giving the guy the questions? At least keep it general. I suspect they may have changed with the new SIM anyway. I don't know how often they revise the test but once a year with the new SIM would make sense
  16. Stable pulls, and good packing usually lead to desirable openings.
  17. I not 100% sure but I have been learning and am no way tring to give expert advice to anyone.
  18. I think the way to do this is to use the video from the T-I camera to supplement the original way of shooting video. You know edit both the cameras into one video, I bet the T-I get more of the really important issues like an interview with the passenger after opening, but fails in the landing catagory, and so on
  19. Post: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, I just read this entire thread and maybe I missed it where it was explained why they are so bad! Many DZo's will lie and let a newbie drive to there DZ and pass right by there competitor. I was so curious I googled 1800skyride, there websight states the tandem jump is $165, I found that un-offensive, so I called them and they confirmed it was $165 and tried to talk me in to buying an additional certificate to give to a friend so I would not have to jump alone, another marketing sale. I hung up on the guy and still do not understand WHY? ... Please tell me there is some substance to them being illegal? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You didn't stay on the phone long enough to find out more of their tactics... If you ask them if they are the DZ you have in mind, which is actually someone else's, they will say "yes that's us" and give you vague directions to their own DZ, or they will say, "oh that DZ's closed, but we're open", when in reality, the DZ in question is not closed! I could go on and on and on... but I don't have the time. Do the research. This bullshit goes back 4 to 5 years. Blue Skies Billy RE posted to add...... while visiting the link Levin posted for Skydiv"ING" Houston. I clicked on the clicky, sent an email to >info@skydivinghouston.com< asking where they were located in Houston? I received a reply today from >www.skydivehouston.com< today stating they were located 45 minuets west of houston in Waller, TX. Puzzled at first, then thought, Skyride has hijacked thier e-mail too? well maybe
  20. Thank you very much!!!!!!! I just finished visiting the link. I saw Olav's photo, and I think the entire sight was bullshit. There is already a skydive houston, I do not know of any DZ that calls themselvs skydiv"ING" houston. I'm starting to see what all you guys are posting about. I kinda pissed about it. I have friends at Skydive Houston, I however am not surprized by Spaceland buying in to it, I have known for some time. Are there anymore links about skyride? Is there anyone out there who has compiled a list of all the DZ's which do bussiness with them.

  22. Hay man, as Aggiedave said you can practice your cutaways in the harness at your dropzone. Have an Instructor watch. Then,
  23. The Question was WhY Tandem before AFF? Tandem get a hands on feel for the landing. A canopy coach if you will, something you could explane in detail, textbook PLF'S....in a first jump course. Tandems are spontainous, and can still be training- Cat B!
  24. You mean Students learn on a one to one raito> 1/1 Student/Instructor Not 1/1 wing loaded. Unless I'm incorrect I believe a 1/1 wingload is an expert level. One we all defie.
