  1. After your 40 yrs old the Dr. is required to do a prostate exam. Now your class 3 medical is only good for two yrs. Once your 50 yrs. the class 3 is good for only a year. I cought your joke, but I do not find anything funny with a Dr. puttting his fingure in my rear.
  2. Hay, in the IRM they have a section about I/E, and how to keep it current. If you go to USPA.org they have a downloadable proficience card. Then the downloadable application for the I/E. IF it is all good they gonna send you a test. In the 2005 IRM they show how the AIC fits in to it. Sorta like You have to have 500 AFF jumps and blah, blah, blah, or have 100 AFF jumps and compleated the AIC course. Something like that, I don't have a copy with me now. Hope this helps. J
  3. I know PD design great reserves, but I'll be reading very carefully about the testing and strength of this material before I buy one!!! Nick
  4. Kewl, I chose electrical safty in the home, an easy one for me, being an electrician. I have many tools and props to use for the course, however I am wondering how Rob will be grading. I realy think I am making too much out of it. You know the dramitic presentation, use of visual aids whole thing. I realy think this is going to be very involving, I only hope it is fun!
  5. what did you chose as the topic of your first presentation? The one that can not be about skydiving, not a skill. Tell me your and I'll tell you mine!
  6. HI Jeff, all the crap about Sabre opening hard are just packing errors. I have seen several jumpers doing stupid shit to "slow down" the openings instead of reading the manufacture manual on how to pack it. The other thing I find surprising is that jumpers believe Sabre are not high performance canopy. So thay expect docile response from them. The sad truth is a Sabre IS a high performance canopy and one should expect bad openings when packed poorly. Saber is not so much different from other manufactures(packing)
  7. as a novice rigger, i find the wings reserve to not be any more difficult to pack then any other rig. some things about the wings i actually find easier then some other rigs, i.e. their freestow pocket is an awesome design, and eliminates the need for velcro line protectors, and their split bag is perfect since you need to really fill the ears of the bag. the biggest problem i see happening with wings containers is loose poptops because if packjob settling and climate changes, neither of which have been a problem on any of the rigs ive packed.
  8. Edit: Deland is great for coaching, but not so much for fun jumping. Just an FYI as it can be a little "cold" for visiting fun jumpers.
  9. The reason I'm asking is on page 55 of the January 05 issue of Parachutist. I took the coach course and understand what they mean by positive vs. negative But as long as I can remember T-I's have always told the student not to grab. I am interested in how you fell about this, and experiences you have had with "grabbers" Thanks for taking part in this poll
  10. well thanks all who participated in this poll. It would appear that the bong has it with pipe running a close second. I prefer the pipe cause it is easier to stash than a bong. Also paper leave the smell on your fingures. Does anyone know how to "can-it"?
  11. My thoughs are....having the student sit with their back to the IP, instructor holding the students feet. The student has to reach out with left hand and grasp the strut, before Instructor releases feet, and then the student can turn and place feet on step. After first student exits/jumps, instructor reels in SL- Pilot closes door, turns on power and goes around for another pass. When Instructor turns around to face tail/students the one on the(his right) moves forward behind pilot seat lookin forward on knees. The I does a gear check. Student #3 sitting on I left moves right where student #2 was sitting. The I then moves back a little bit where student#3 was, and student #2 moves into position back to IP leading. And so on. That is how we do it. I'm not saying it better or worse, I think both ways have pros and cons. Bigun, I know you didn't post this but I do not see a problem with the CG's, and a heads up Instructor will realize a new/inexperienced pilot, and at least give a briefing prior to taking up 3 students on a 182. Also our Video guy sits in the back of the plane and videos the tandem hook up, expresion on face when door is open, then crawls out past the students feet, The T-I briefs the student and helps move the student closer to the pilot seat for this. Once the vidiot is out then the T-I starts with left foot out etc... The T-I also sits with his back to the IP. It's only .02 cents worth. Every DZ/Instructor I feel has the right to opperate the way they feel most comfortable and safe.
  12. I just got my christmas present to myself in the mail. A new pilot 132. Figured it would be hard to pack, but my bag and tray are for a 135-150, so I thought it would be a little easy being it a smaller canopy. Hell no! I was totaly wrong. The first time I couldn't get it in the bag, it was so out of shape I decided to pro pack it again. The second time I had to force it, it totaly didn't go in proper, but I got it in the bag. I hope it opens.
  13. so true, there isn't an edit button for the poll. I don't think I can correct the spelling.
  14. Paul, do you still have your recipt from the post office?
  15. Every time a PRD gets repacked a strike goes against it. If it gets used 2 strikes goes against it. after 40 repacks or 20 rides it has to go back to PD for inspection. ( or any combination of the two). On the lable of the reserve, it has boxes where rigger mark strikes. As for the main, if it needs reline, don't buy it (IMO) let the seller ship it off, let the manufacture certify it air worth, then sell it. For a man (IMO) buy nothing with pink in it.
  16. C.O.D. cash on delivery. Say $500. you give the post man 500 for the canopy and he gives it to the other guy. The other guy gives the post man $500 and the post man gives it to you. Same? same. You might pay a little in COD charges but it worth it to keep every one square.
  17. So after the thread in gear and rigging regarding Smart reserves, I did some research. One poster had a high wingload and caught some flack, (imagine that here on DZ.com eh?) and this left me wondering about accepted reserve wingloads
  18. I myself would sell it for $8K but I always am accused of giving things away. What do other people think?
  19. I have a buddy who landed in a swoop ditch, added to that he did not take care of his gear. Often left the main unpacked in his truck with the window down sometimes it would start raining. After landing in the swoop ditch he left his rig in the packing area for severial days expecting the rigger to do his thingy. He did not. When I looked at the rig the mud was caked on, the contianer had a stentch to it, then I noticed his rusty abrasive three rings had actualy started cutting throug the part of the risers that houses the smaller ring. I called him and advised him to ground the risers. He did not have stainless rings on the risers. Just a though, maybe off subject,
