Dunno what he's done wrong, but I know he's done some cool stuff... bunch of videos of him on my server in /from tv/german tv/. I especially like the video where he attempts to get towed behind a B-25 (with red bull written all over it) with a wingsuit. He swings around wildly for a little while, then the hardware holding the rope snaps sending him falling into who knows where. The camera crew finally catches up with him drinking wine and chatting with the owners of whatever house he landed in front of. Great stuff. Dave

Read Catch 22. Dave

I recorded this onto VHS a while ago when it first aired. I MAY actually get a VCR hooked up to my computer to get it online within the next few weeks. We'll see. Dave

Wow. My eyes are in the -13 range with some astigmatism. My eye doctor gave me the impression that lasik wasn't a possibility for me... yet. Maybe I should be looking into it. I think my prescription hasn't changed in a couple years now. Dave

Been there once. Oooooh man that was good stuff. I had coffee ice cream with hot fudge, caramel, and brownie mixed in. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Their medium size was so big i barely even got the ice cream level with the top of the cup by the time i was full. Dave

Just noticed Trident (aka Bomber Mfg) updated their web page with pics of their new Viper container. "The mid and top flaps on all Viper series rigs are designed to be field replaceable. So, a bad landing no longer means living with a scuffed flap, nor a ridiculously expensive repair bill to have the flap replaced. So easy to replace, the new flaps can be ordered from Trident H&C, Inc., and installed by most any field rigger with an appropriate sewing machine! Tired of your old flap colors? Simply replace them. Selling your Viper? Replace the flaps and increase the overall aesthetic of the rig back to near-new condition." I think they've been paying attention to me and my pink mid flap! Looks like it comes in 3 versions. One's looks basically like a reflex, one is mirage style, and the 3rd is javelin style, at least as far as the reserve deployment system goes. Dave

Hehe sorry. There's no porn on that site or anything. Didn't even cross my mind that a firewall might not like it. Dave

could THIS be the same Emo Enterprises? Eh, maybe they just wanna do some good one time. There are no dishonest skydivers out there, ARE THERE?

I have fairly small but not tiny frames and they fit under my Z1 easily. I have found that the size and shape of the face matters much more than the size and shape of the glasses. I've got pretty bad vision without glasses... like i cant see anything past about the tip of my nose. I couldn't imagine jumping (or even walking) without my glasses. I'd literally have to hold my altimeter about 4 inches from my face to be able to read it. I wonder if I have the DZ.com record for worst vision.

I thought we solved that Y2K bug years ago

Ok, File moved to /misc/ folder. Other cool new videos: /misc/Helicopter_jump.wmv (17 megs) Huey jumps at Tullinge. /students/tristan_whitmarsh.avi (3 megs) Tristan practices turns and a backloop. Dave

I believe the problem is just too many users. Some browsers just say the site is down when they cant connect. The server has a maximum of 30 or so concurrent connections. (whats the number, andy?). Each person is limited to 5 downloads (5 connections) at a time, so in other words, only a small number of people can connect at any one time. Keep trying, you'll get in soon enough. Thanks for the upload! I'll be moving it soon... i'll post where... Dave

My worst injury was a couple of little cuts on my hands from learning to pack. I remember standing in a circle at the DZ one evening after the jumping had ended. I was the only person that didn't walk with a limp or wear some kind of leg brace. I plan to do my best to keep it that way. Dave

Naah, I think they just have something against Viking. It's all his fault!

Thats the other thing that drives me nuts about the discovery channel and it's brothers. They used to have all kinds of technology shows like beyond tomorrow and beyond 2000. What happened to those? They were the reason i started watching discovery in the first place. Then there was Wings. That of course moved to discovery wings channel. Speedvision used to be a great channel too. Then it was bought by some other redneck channel and now all they show is nascar. Ever see the Wonderful World of Flying on it? That show was great. Who runs those channels? Do they have something personal against me? Dave

The control tower of the airport I did most of my flight training at (in Massachusetts) uses the same frequency as Montreal Approach. Get up a couple thousand feet over the airport and ya start hearing french. I was SO confused the first time I heard that. Dave

The history channel, learning channel, and discovery channel all have similar shows on. I hate when they do that! True Crime Authors, FBI Files, and Protect and Serve. All police shows. Those are sooo boring most of the time. Why cant they freaking show different things so I have a choice? Why cant I get discovery wings or tech tv here? I'm boooored! At work today I was so bored I programed battleship (the game) for microsoft excel. ARG! Dave

Damn that guy's fast. I've watched it over and over and I swear he slices through a cloud horizontally. I'll keep watching... Anyway, would it be ok if I kept the file on my server? It's a great video. Dave -

Before the final results come out, I'm gonna make a prediction: Learjet. Dave -
Sounds like ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/public/misc/pcit.mov (3.5 megs). Takes about 3 seconds from throwing to deployment. 3 seconds sure looks like a looong time when you've got a pilot chute trailing behind ya. I had a PC in tow a while ago. It was around jump #45 or so I think. Cause was a shrunken kill line not letting the PC fully inflate. Without even thinking about it, I reached back and yanked the bridle. I'm happy I did it because the thought of deploying my reserve right into my main PC doesn't sound too nice to me and everything came out fine, but after all I've read, if it happens again I'd probably cut away and pull the reserve. clearly a plane. i agree with bizjet of some kind. i reencoded the video so you can skip to any part and watched a few times. it moves a cloud. never seen a skydiver do that. i'll upload the new version to my server soon. Dave -
Hmm, what makes me unique? Depends who I'm around I guess. Around most of my friends, well, I skydive and I fly planes. I own a pink parachute (well, it's mostly black, but the pink kinda stands out), and at school last year I had 3 keys on my keychain. One for my apartment, one for my bedroom in my apartment, and one for my flying club's Cessna 172. Around skydivers, hmmm. Thats a tough one. I'm a bit smaller than the average skydiver... 5'4", 120 lbs (ok, thats with my weight vest on). I'm good with computers. Yesterday I took a break from packing my chute to give tech support to a friend over the phone (which i failed miserably). I'm also pretty good with photoshop. Nobody that's seen any of my work will let me within 10 miles of any picture of them. Dunno what they're so afraid of... . Dave
