  3. I was there for 4 days and had a blast. Jumped the jet. Jumped from 23,000 ft, made a buttload of organized RW jumps. I sure as hell hope that any rumors that there wont be another are bullshit, cuz I'm going again next year. Dats all I have to say
  4. Damn straight. And its WAY overpriced. __ My mighty steed
  5. My Vigil came with the x-ray card and various other items in its own metal carrying case.. __ My mighty steed
  6. Right! And if you do something stupid while under the influence, its the bartenders fault for serving you! Dude, gimme a break Each jumper is ultimately responsible for his/her own safety. Period! If people are stupid enough to fly before a storm, its on them. If people exit a baloon with nothing but corn below, its on them. You really think its someone elses job to save your ass from your own stupidity??? __ My mighty steed
  7. If it hasnt already grabbed you by the balls, then maybe your money is better spent elsewhere. This is not a recomendation or a recrimination. I say this because this is a very expensive sport. For me its worth the money because it blew my dress up right from jump #1 and is still getting better and better. If you have made several jumps now and you can take it or leave it, maybe skydiving is not destined to be your passion. __ My mighty steed
  8. Sweet Jesus on a pogo stick! Keep that crap to yourselves for gods sake. I guess it was only a matter of time before some poor slob felt compelled to share his dick size with the world __ My mighty steed
  9. This is has got to be one of the most nauseating threads I've seen in recent months __ My mighty steed
  10. Was that you on Sunday losing your shoe in freefall? __ My mighty steed
  11. Oh hell, looks like I'm a bad skydiver __ My mighty steed
  12. Me on the Jet in Rantoul last Saturday having a bad hair day :-) __ My mighty steed
  13. If thats true they are outright lying in their advertising since one mile is 5280 ft. They are giving their tandems just a hair over one mile. Nowhere near two. __ My mighty steed
  14. I was on load 3 on Saturday. I have a Vigil which was turned on because it simply didnt occur to me that they would be pressurizing the plane for a flight to 14000 ft where they would then be opening the door. My Vigil didnt fire. No vigils on my flight fired and I know for a fact that my buddy on the same load also has a Vigil so there was more than one on board. Is it safe to assume that things were done differently on different flights? It seems fairly easy to asssume that they must have been following a different procedures on different flights since a bunch fired on one flight but none on any of the others. What did they do differently on that one flight? __ My mighty steed
  15. Oh yeah! Too bad the ride was so short! It got to 14400 ft in about 4 minutes flat and was as smooth a flight as I've ever had
  16. Someone already said $99. yes that is correct. and well worth it Amen! I'd have paid for another if I'd had it to spare
  17. According to the briefing just prior to takeoff we were goin 140 - 160 mph It was freaking awesome
  18. I cant really recommend a PA system but as far as mixers go, its Mackie mixers all the way. Mackie I have the 12 channel 1202VLZ Pro. I use it for my studio recording and it can be used for simple live setups. I think its only about $300.00 on Musicians friend It has really nice clean mic preamps __ My mighty steed
  19. I started out on classical piano as a child but switched to guitar as a young teenager. (now I'm a million and six) The piano experience only helped in that I already understood music theory and I could sight read music. This saved my teacher some trouble that he normally would have had with a novice guitar student and gave the appearance that I picked it up faster. The reality, IMO, is that it didnt make any difference at all in how easy it was to master the instrument itself. __ My mighty steed
  20. Some guitars just need to be taken out back and shot __ My mighty steed
  21. The action was already very low and the neck was straight as a ruler. Any lower and it would have been buzzing like a hive of angry hornets. Believe me, I've been playing for 30 years both personally and professionally. It was just a hard guitar to play. Plain and simple. The frets were too high and you had to apply too much pressure to fret the note clean. Hands got tired in no time flat. That could have been fixed but it would have cost me hundreds of dollars to have a professional luthier get that guitar playing well. Not a great bargain. I know lots of Martins that played great, but the DX1 dreadnought was one of their first "less than a thousand dollar" models. Around $700.00 at the time. It was not wrth the money. __ My mighty steed
  22. Have you tried some of the better Ovations with the medium bowl? The cheaper models with the shallow bowl sound tinny. Mine sounds very sweet, and it has built in peizo pickup in the bridge and when I record with it plugged straight into my mixing board it sounds phenominal __ My mighty steed
  23. I used to have a Martin DX1 dreadnought and it had the hardest action of any guitar I ever played. Sounded nice but even with light guage strings it wasa bitch to play. Now I have an Ovation 1777 Legend LX and I absolutely love it. Granted, the Ovation cost twice what I paid for the Martin so I'd expect that. Still, I put medium guage strings on it and its easier to play than the Martin was with light guage. Sounds nicer too. I came to the conclusion that Martin makes awesome guitars but anything they make thats under a grand sucks... One mans opinion
