One word for ya, bro, "Repetition"... I had the same problem, but the more I flew it, the more comfortable it was. Just comes in time. Like Manbird says: Patience! Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

I would really like to see either "Day-Glo Pink" or "Damn, There is a Golf Cart--Red" color added to the line-up of Golf Carts for next year!!! Also, I will have to agree with the "No bands in tent city AND how bout some port-a-potties in the middle of tent row. Damn, that was hell going to the bathroom at 4 in the am with crutches!!! Oh yeah, the Jet would be really nice too. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

I, not unlike Greg, rarely post here, but, like Greg, this has struck a cord with me as well. More than likely due to 80% of my jumps being on a Sabre or Stiletto. First of all, everything that has been pointed out here is very informative. The Sabre does have a much longer recovery arch, which means you really have to dig out of a misjudgement. But I do, however, get a much better swoop out of my Stiletto. Of course, it is hard to judge just based on which canopy is better than the other in certain scererio's without looking at wingloading. I am at 2:1 on my Stiletto 97 and can build up more speed on a Sabre 107 than the Stiletto, BUT... And this is a big one, as someone stated earlier in the thread, you can learn more in your last 500 than your first. Upon talking to Brian Germain about executing a proper, faster hook, he stated that it is all in the initial turn. That once you begin your whip into the turn, that you should be diving into the turn. (*Wow, did that seem confusing to anyone else? ) I have since learned how to fly a canopy better. I have learned proper techniques to improve the swoop. I will say that I jumped a Sabre 97 a while ago and did not get the overall performance that I do with the Stiletto. I have great lift at the very end of my swoop and hardly ever have to run it out. Of course, I have gotten into a bad habit of carving 180 degrees on just about every landing, but hey, habits are hard to break. (*Until you get your freakin' ass chewed out by someone looking out for your well being! (***Thanks by the way if you are reading this. ) I would also like to add, just like someone else, that my Stiletto has approx. 1100 jumps on it, and when I got it back from a re-line, it was like a totally different canopy. Might want to consider having that done on yours. I really don't think that there is a true "legitimate" answer to this, everyone has their own opinion. Some people are partial to Sabres while others, like myself, will not jump anything but a Stiletto. But I think as a whole on here, everyone seems to agree that the Stiletto out performs the Sabre. I have no problems with mine, whether it be swooping, opening, flying, or even using it with a Wingsuit. But, another thing to think about is, I used to SWEAR by a Sabre until I jumped something different! Go with whatever you are comfortable with, with whatever is treating you right at this present moment! Phew, did I rattle on or what? Sorry!!!! Ok, I have to add my input for a fun exit. I have found that leaving a King Air like you are going to do headdown is fun as hell. Go out looking at the tail and rotate off of the hill like you are headdown. Keep that rotation going until you fly away. It is a blast. I'm sure that this is considered a "gainer" as well, but didn't want to sound like a tard if it wasn't. (*Had to learn this exit for our "inexperienced pilot" who can't seem to get the exit speed down, plus he decided to "Want to watch me exit one day and did a left bank. Not a very good feeling seeing the tail miss my head by inches.) Anyway, you will find that getting unstable "Can be fun". Experiment with it, that is the way you build confidence and learn. Have fun. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

I am concerned about BM flights at WFFC. Are these organized to where we don't have to worry about freefall traffic? I'm sure that they are, but would like to understand more how they are doing this. I would hate to be flying along and have someone head down plaster into my "Non-Cypres Carrying" ass. Do they allow these at any certain part of the day or what. Or is it all about flight pattern? I will also have mine at the "Skydive Alabama" tent complete with the set up for us "unfortunate TRV-ers". Got to say one more time that I love mine... Anyone is welcome to our tent to check out this beautiful helmet specimen! Hope to see you there. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

I have found this helmet to be extremely stable. Granted I am only used to a Paramount System 3, but still. The fact that I have a whoppin' TRV-19 with D-box on the SIDE of this thing has a lot to do with my opinion as well. I have about 20 jumps with this helmet now and have not found anything wrong with it yet, other than it refuses to figure out a way for me to make more jumps. Other than that, I am giving it an A++. Very comfortable, stable and kick ass looking. The Hinged Chin Cup makes it a breeze to take off once under canopy to give me the opportunity to be in every video. I just got my brand spankin' new Optik Illusion set up with my TRV-19. This freakin' helmet is bad ass. I know that it is not released yet, but someone that is extremely valuable in my life managed to get them to sell her one. (*Thanks) It is very comfortable when running around the house. As for jumpin' it, will let you all know here in about 2 hours. I will attempt to get a pic of it on here soon as well. But just wanted to let you all know that so far, I highly recommend the helmet. Thanks guys, please count me in on at least one of them. We have a tent on DZ Row, Skydive Alabama if you should not hear from me, I'll be there. Thanks again. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

I will be there all week and would like to be included in a big way. Is anyone trying to organize this? Is so, please let me know. Thanks. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Sure, but it is just an issue of who is going to "own up to it". Hell, it is hard enough to get people to claim the dreaded altitude fart that makes everyone want to puke! Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Although I wouldn't consider this a good canopy to "learn Birdman" with. I have had great success with my stiletto 97 at 2:1. That is with a Psycho pack as well. I would, and I'm sure that several others will agree that a Spectre or Sabre/Sabre2 or better utilized for this task. No no no, you absolutely qualify. But I guess I didn't figure on people admitting to "Multiple Offenses". I would be honored to initiate you to our beloved corps. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

I'm almost sickened to think of the "Knot" but hey, it would qualify! By the way, I am getting "unbelievable" response from this. I guess for the simple fact that skydivers have the best sense of humor on the face of the planet! There will be initiations at WFFC. This is way too funny!!! I, along with #2 and #3 WILL be in Rantaul. Those that are interested, please come to the Skydive Alabama Tent located on DZ row. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!

Jeremy and myself have devised a plan for the new up and coming Skydiving Social Club. Sure, Moss Point has the P.M.S clan, but wait no more. Skydive Alabama is currently taking applications for the P.I.M.P. Club. Now I know most of you are currently asking yourselves, "What in the world could that possibly be?" Well ask no more. Thanks to Jeremy for the extremely creative Title which stands for "Poop In My Pants". That's right, for all of us that have, at one time, trusted a fart on the way to altitude or sitting at your computer or tried to get someone back for farting on you as they walked by and found out shortly thereafter that we should have waited. We all have been there and none of you should feel ashamed for this act of grossness. As some of you might agree that there are times in your life that should go untold due to constant jeering from your peers, this is an act of "Commoncy" (*Yes, that's right, Commoncy, it is officially a word). Now, in order to be initiated into our club, we decided to follow the tradition of the P.M.S. and make this an incredibly easy initiation. P.M.S has the "Barbie Pass" in freefall, well, easy enough, right? So, for those that have the courage to come forward and claim their rights to obtain their well deserved P.I.M.P. Number, all you will be asked to do is obtain a roll of Toilet Paper in Freefall. That's right!!! The reward for crapping all over yourself by accident is receiving a roll of TP in freefall. As we all know, there must be guidelines for this gracious award. The only guideline that we have is that Jeremy (*P.I.M.P #2) or myself are the only ones that can hand out this award. The only thing that we don't require is that you do NOT bring proof that you have earned this award. Your admitting to us is proof enough. I know that this will be the newest craze in the skydiving community, so all that wish, please come forward and claim your number. Thank you very much and hope to see all soon. Does anyone know the location of ANYONE from Icarus Canopies? I have been trying to get ahold of them for quite some time. We, (*Skydive Alabama) placed an order with them for a canopy that was due in May!!! NO CANOPY, NO CONTACT, NO CALL BACK, NO REPLY on email. If there is anyone that can tell me how to get in touch with Wyatt or a rep from Icarus, please let me know. I have a customer that has every right to get thoroughly pissed off and would like to avoid this if at all possible. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Not sure if I can help you, but I jumped there about 6 years ago and it was pretty decent then. They had a 206 at that time. not sure what they have now. Anyway, the coolest part of that place is when you get to altitude, (*On a clear day or night jump) you can see the skyline of NYC. Other than that, I am sorry to not have any up to date info. Canopy Transfer being taught in your ground school?
namdrib replied to namdrib's topic in Instructors
I have been teaching ground courses for over a year now and I truly believe that this is something that should be taught in ground school. However, the DZO does not agree with me, so I thought I would get some of your inputs. I really believe that this could save lives in a "Low Altitude" situation. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Unknowing attempting to take out all 4 wheeled vehicles remotely close to the landing area!
