Keep in mind that he/she is nothing more than an "advisor"... Safety & Training Advisor... He can't really do anything except give advice unless the DZO gives him/her some sort of special authority... Kudos to that person for taking control of the situation no matter how it turned out. I have to agree with that. We went through Dirty Ed's many log books and there was some very interesting stuff in there. Brings back old memories. I still believe that numbers mean nothing though. Sounds typical of the sport, and training today... Everyone thinks this sport is safe... I can't count the number of times I have heard people say "I wouldn't be doing it if I thought it was in any way dangerous." Wake up folks. Skydiving is dangerous. Even if you do everything right you can still be injured or even killed. Now add a stupid instructor into the mix who's only thoughts are of getting laid and you have a recipe for disaster. The instructor should have his license taken away by USPA forever... The girl should have her baby and live happily ever after on welfare and never walk on to a DZ again. The DZO should think twice about who they allow to instruct at their DZ and I should have my head examined for offering my 2 cents worth on this board. This is funny to me because I learned on a t-10 and owned a PC with a Pioneer 26 Lo-Po for the first two years of my jumping "career" and My D License # is 18859... Well for all you people who haven't given up the sport yet, Air Trash is meeting at Perris tomorrow at 9am for some skydiving and beers. Lil Don will be there and by the way, He got his first ride in a Cessna today with MJ Butt in her freshly painted Cessna. MJ, Bully, Lil Don and myself got to fly around Corona for about an hour today. It was great. I'll have pictures posted on the Air Trash Website over the weekend. So come on out to Perris and jump or just hang out with us on the ground in the parking lot. Lil Don will be there and I think Big Don might be there too..... What I remember most about being pied was that it stung my eyes and made everything blurry for about two hours... Not fun... Well then I guess me and Bully are doing pretty good! Here we are today after a wednesday morning skydive durning the 8 and 10 way competition at the Nats. This pic is taken after the jump at the Ghetto in front of my place. We did a fun jump amidst all the activity there and then had beers... We both did stand up landings in 0 wind... OK This is to all you guys and in response to all the other reasons people have given for wanting to get out of the sport. I really don't want to quit skydiving. I want to quit jumping at airports where they tell you that the newbies with the hot little hankies get to decide the landing pattern even if you get out before they do. I refuse to land downwind on purpose,,, End of story... I'm getting old, my knees are week and my flying boat with strings on it won't fly as fast as the hankies. If the majority of the jumpers wanna land downwind most of the time then they should reserve another landing area for one or the other. And not in the dirt for us old guys. And let's face it... Studunts are landing into the wind, (at least while on student status) Tandems are going to land into the wind no matter who lands first, why can't I? WHY OH WHY CANT I!!! Canopy swooping is a whole nother sport in itself. It should have it's own designated landing area and pattern... If we can have a DC9 and a Wind Tunnel, we can afford a little more grass. If they don't change? They don't get my money anymore. Skydive Elsinore lost more than a few jumpers when they threw some of us Air Trash members outta there. (although we have traitors amongst us who jump there occasionaly) (That's a joke son) I don't care who jumps there. But the thing is that they made a bad business decision and lost some income. That's the bottom line. I know it won't break them but I'll be dammed if I'm gonna jump anywhere that tells you yhat you gotta do somethng more dangerous than normal operations on purpose.... Landing down wind is more dangerous than landing into the wind and no one can change that. I feel safe enough in the sport the way I was trained that I think I have a pretty good chance of dying from liver disease or a car wreck rather than jumping. But the swoopers have taken a lot of the safety out of the sport. There's even a guy HERE who's sig line reads; If you can't die doing it, it's not a sport That says it all folks. We got away from the sport death thing when we dropped low pull contests. Don't these guys read these boards? IS ANYONE LISTENING OUT THERE? I even went to the management through the S&TA...
