Cross brace canopy for camera flyers

Waww! Nice malfunction image!! -
Just found this thread I've given up trying to sell photo prints to jumpers. Most of them want them for nothin' anyway . It might be totally different if I were at a large DZ, but here in Flatville, IL, I'm basically just the DZ documentarian. When I do tandem vidi's I always shoot stills, but with the assumption that they are just for my "private collection" and , no they can't buy a "stills-only" package. It's all about the video. I don't give out copies to anyone of my original hi-res digital images. The tandems get whatever comes out on their DVD in the form of a slide show with 640x480 jpegs. If they want prints, they can go to my web site and order them. I have sold pitifully few . When asked about it, I tell them that the hi-res stills can be theirs for $50 each OR they can have a CD (or download) copies of all the hi-res versions of stills from their jump if they sign a model release. The model release allows me to sell the photos as microstock. Although I certainly haven't made a killing on it, iStockPhoto is working out pretty well so far. Since I started selling microstock, I have gotten enough in royalties to at least pay for my camera body (woohoo! ). The main advantage for me of selling on iStockPhoto, Dreamstime, and Fotolia is that I've learned a tremendous amount about working in the "lab" on the photos and how to take pictures that are technically good enough to be useful to designers and they print at very high quality. The feedback I get when submissions are rejected is quite valuable too . Anyway, I do it for the art, not the money, but I don't give away the hi-res images without something in return. I have no problem, like pilotdave, posting low-res copies on FaceBook for people to use in their profiles. If they want a 14x20 print, however, that's a whole different story . Once the hi-res version is out, it means that Walgreens, WalMart, Shutterfly, or any number of middle-men can make big bucks selling prints of my work to any number of people.

So, is anyone jumping a D700 yet? I'm considering getting one, but not looking forward to buying and hacking up yet another proprietary, non-standard cable-remote plug. That MC-30 looks really klunky. Anyway, I'd appreciate comments/suggestions. I'm currently jumping a Rebel XT. It's OK. The remote setup is simple and the camera is light. I also have a D70s, which takes awesome pictures with the Nikon 10.5 mm lens ;-), however, the D70s weighs more, so I don't jump it much.

I'm very, very jealous When you say "Our systems" are you referring to your professional setup, or are you talking about the systems you have at your home DZ? What are the specs?

For sunny conditions, I prefer to use Tv set at high shutter speed with autofocus, ISO 100, and no flash, in general, because I use the kit lense at 18mm and want all of the shots to be sharp with low noise under natural lighting conditions. For the novice, I think that the basic sports mode is a good place to start, but you'll need to pay close attention to the results you get and study them if you expect to get to the point where you get consistently good results. The reality is that there is simply no such thing as "best all around camera settings" when you're talking about using a DSLR. The quality of your results will depend greatly on your knowledge of photography principles, the conditions under which you generally like to shoot, the lenses you use, the way you fly, and your composition skills. The latter includes your ability to work in the "lab" after you actually take the pictures ;-) These factors are usually much more important than the specific settings that you use on your camera. Unless you invest the time necessary to learn all of this, you might as well just use an inexpensive "point-and-shoot" camera. You'll save a lot of time and money, and the percentage of good pictures you end up with will be the same ;-)

If you're looking for FREE "royalty-free" music, that you may use for commercial purposes AND that you are allowed to sync with your video, there are very few places to look. As others have mentioned, there are many sites on the net where you can purchase royalty-free music and the selections are generally very good. Here are a few sites that I use to get truly free "royalty-free" music. My favorite is Jamendo.com, but you really have to listen to a lot of stuff there to find what you like. I have found several songs that I use in my videos, which people really seem to like. It's going to depend on your taste. One of the best things about Jamendo.com is that there are many songs in languages other than english available ;-) Check these out: JAMENDO.COM My favorites: B-Shake, AlainProvist, DJ Saryon Sory, Bronco, Kelly Allyn (if you find any others that you like, please let me know!) MUSOPEN.COM - Great for classical music INCOMPETECH.COM

I love my 10.5. It's funny when some people think they are actually seeing the curvature of the earth! :-)

The first one at 4:37 am got me up, so after about an hour of looking through the USGS maps (they're pretty cool!) I went back to sleep. Then ANOTHER one (4.5M) woke me up at around 10:20 a.m.! The USGS site now shows that there have been seven earthquakes today. I wonder if that's kind of unusual? CLICKY -
I have a Sabre 135. I've put more than 600 jumps on it and we are both still in very good shape. I don't roll the nose, just stuff it in. I always make sure the slider is un-collapsed, all the way up, and quartered. It always opens nice and smooth; almost always on heading

I can sell my bike today for more than i paid for it 8 years ago. Mind you it IS an Italian beauty

Hmmm ... those sound a little high ... but I guess that's due to including taxes and stuff.

Same here! So far I have no complaints, pretty happy with them. It's supposed to be in the high 40s / low 50s here tomorrow, I think I'll ride to work. I hate you.

***Type 2 The Type 2 false awakening seems to be considerably less common. Green (1968) characterised it as follows: ‘[…]the subject appears to wake up in a realistic manner, but to an atmosphere of suspense[…]His surroundings may at first appear normal, and he may gradually become aware of something uncanny in the atmosphere, and perhaps of unwonted sounds and movements. Or he may “awake” immediately to a “stressed” and “stormy” atmosphere. In either case, the end result would appear to be characterized by feelings of suspense, excitement or apprehension.’ (Green, 1968, p.121) OK ... now that's starting to sound like some of the skydives I've participated in!

*shiver* No shit ... food for thought.

I use Progressive ... no complaints. The thing I like the most about them is that I can do all my business with them online. I have two Harleys insured currently. (Damn! Now I got myself thinking about riding ... It's too fucking cold out there )

I have them all the time. Doesn't bother me a bit. I frequently have triple layer dreams ... you know, I'm dreaming that it's a dream and I "wake up," then I realize I'm still dreaming, eventually I wake up, really I'm pretty sure I'm awake right now. I'm not crazy. Hmmmmm .... Well, anyway, I figure I'm OK as long as my wife doesn't think I need to be tethered. I talk in my sleep sometimes, but fortunately I don't get up and wander around. That would suck

Masochism. That makes total sense, since his friend is a Satist.

It's really an impossible question to answer. I'm listening to the album, "Let it Bleed" at the moment ... right now my favorite is Live With Me ... in a few minutes it'll be Midnight Rambler, then Monkey Man ... oh shit! ... I think I'm having a flashback BRB

Ya ... now that it's warmed up a bit here, I'm running the heat pump. Heat pumps rock!

You did notice that the only part of that that translated correctly was, " So WTF? GIY AND GWTP." Didn't you? -

A scary thought! I cut and pasted what you wrote and ran it through one of those web-based free translators ... from Enlgish to Spanish and then back again. The result: This thread of spiral did laughter audibly to me whereas it seated in the sofa. I never fall in the floor. Unimpressed Textspeak or SMS is a new language and it is being accepted more and more. http://www.iht.com/...ealand_Text_Exam.php to me is one more a evolution faster logic of the language. This is the reason for which 133t never took ignition, it thanks for God. Crazy So WTF? GIY AND GWTP. Machihiembre in addition, once the technology of the recognition of speech becomes him is better debatable. You can communicate of your way and will be translated for them to your way. skiddoo 23!
