Wasn't the Prom thing only about a week ago in TV time? If she's having a McBaby, its probably McGeorge's from that night of ill advised bad sex! I don't think she and McVet ever slept together. When she met McVet, she was so shaken over what happened with George that she was attempting celibacy, right? They were going to the night she did it with McDreamy at the prom, and then Denny died and she had to deal with Izzy. But she is sort of a McSlut, so who knows!

Have your political views changed in the last four years?
tigra replied to Jib's topic in Speakers Corner
My views haven't changed, however I think other people's perception of those views have. Seems like what I used to consider "moderate" is now considered "radical left" to some people. Weird, huh? -
I think we should petition the network for more butt shots of McDreamy, McSteamy, McVet, Alex and Burke! I'm sick of the whiny indecisive women- we need to see more of the hot men!

Yeah- I got the Claire thing from last year. All the characters seem to be inter-connected. But I thought the Jack thing was interesting- a semi legit reason for his guilt and angst. Kate and Sawyer both killed people pretty much in cold blood. Up until now, Jack's "crimes" were being a bad husband and turning his drunk dad in to the medical board. Not really enough to make him the morose, guilt ridden guy he is. The fact that his obsession with his wife caused him to burst into his father's AA meeting, scream at him and cause him to fall off the wagon and kill a patient on the operating table, lose his license and go off to Australia to drink himself to death- well- that's a little more guilt and angst worthy!

Well, if that's the case, Meredith will probably choose Finn shortly before he finds out he gets sick. Then McDreamy will need to operate and in spite of a super heroic effort, he'll die on the table. The rest of the season will involve Meredith grieving, feeling guilty, obsessing, blaming McDreamy and McDreamy trying to win her back. Great- no real reason to tune in anymore.................. And I still think Mrs. McDreamy will end up pregnant and not knowing whether the father is McSteamy or McDreamy.

I don't think the "others" are the good guys or the "lost-a-ways" are bad. This season, they're just making it more clear that the others aren't ALL bad. The remaining lostaways were never really protrayed as being ALL good. They're all damaged in one way or another. Still, I think I liked the show better when the island was a metaphor for purgatory instead of some gigantic over-reaching social experiment. And yeah, I'll still watch next Wednesday! And did you catch that Jack was responsible for his father falling OFF the wagon-which also makes him responsible for his drinking himself to death? (At least in Jack's eyes?)

I still think there was something pretty bad pending against him in Thailand- he confessed to a murder (which he knew he wouldn't even be tried for) just to get out of there. I'm not at all surprised the charges were dropped- he probably had a good idea that would happen too. He decided it was time to come "home" and got a first class ticket. The real question is why he left Thailand.

All this time I thought "the toe" was something to avoid showing in public! Who knew???

The pralines (with pecans) were the one thing I couldn't duplicate once I got home. The bread pudding is pretty easy, the Gumbo takes some time to do right and the Jambalaya is somewhere in between! Thanks for backing me up about the file! I had to share the whole cooking class story so "Warped" wouldn't try to come back and say it wasn't "real" gumbo!

When I was in Germany many years ago, they had something similar with pork. We ate it for breakfast with bread and sometimes cheese. It was kind of like raw sausage, which should have been gross, but was surprisingly tasty.

Agreed again- an INSANE amount of commercials! I thought it was just me or something!

I make my gumbo with file (pronounced Fee-Lay)powder instead. I think that's ground sassafras leaves? A long time ago, I joined my then boyfriend when he had to go to New Orleans for a week long "business" trip. The company lined up activities for the "wives", and the only one I went to was a half day cooking class. (My BF and I were the youngest in the group by far at the time, and the other activities just weren't for me!) We made gumbo, jambalaya, pralines and bread pudding. On the rare occasion that I'll make Gumbo, that's still the recipe I use.

We love ya anyway, issues and all!

I think the worst thing about last season was that there were so many interruptions- it was kind of hard to keep track of everything. And then, during the last 2 or 3 episodes, suddenly a bunch of questions were finally answered and even more were raised. The last few episodes were way better than the ones earlier in the season- I guess that was to hook everyone in for tonight.

Does the fact that my SO seems to love to do that to ME and anyone else he can get away with mean that HE needs to get out more?

Actually, she didn't start it. There was a Mr. Potato Head contest at the Team Funnel Memorial Day boogie at SDC at least 3 years ago. I'm not sure if it was a Team Funnel invention or where they got the idea from, but there were some really great videos.

I had a friend do this with her cats, and the cats caught on well and really liked the arrangement. The only thing is, they thought sinks and bathtubs were pretty much the same as a toilet! You can see where this would be a problem, right?

Michele the resident "Cat Whisperer" could probably write a book on the topic! Separate rooms, letting them sniff each other from under the door, swapping poop from the litter boxes, that kind of thing. As for me, maybe I'm not a the best cat mommy, but unless I'm concerned about disease, I've just put the new kitty down in the center of the room and let them all sort it out. (With some supervision, of course!) That's much more likely to work with a kitten than an adult cat though. The bigger cats (even the males) tend to be protective and tolerant of the little guys. And it seems obvious, but try not to pay too much attention to the new one, because you don't want to other one(s) getting jealous! (And that's easier said than done!)

I didn't think the Addison flashback was out of character at all. The entire last season, all she did was beg, plead, cry and try to hang on to a man who was in love with another woman. When she first joined the show, they gave us a glimpse of a strong, independent professional woman, but that Addison has been absent for quite a while. If THAT Addison returned, this boring ass love triangle might actually get interesting!

Plus, imagine how useful it would be to live with a vet! I always thought I should marry either a vet or a mechanic. Seems like my credit cards take the biggest hit on unexpected car repairs or medical care for my babies!
-
She knows in her head that McVet is the better choice, but she's Meredith, so she'll waffle, finally let McVet go and then it will be McDreamy's turn to tell her he has to give it one more try with his wife who will probably end up being pregnant. I actually think McDreamy's wife has had about enough though. And she may just have enough self respect to leave him- preggers or not!

Well, the bottom line for me personally is that with regards to the people I like, care about and/or respect, I'm going to try and see their side to things and I'm going to TRY not to offend them. As a white female, I really don't consider myself to be in a "protected class" at all. I also don't work in a male dominated industry, and maybe that makes a difference. From personal experience, I know all about problem employees, potential lawsuits, protected groups and spineless management- when it was going on with me, I didn't feel very "protected" at all. And its not that I don't get your point about extreme political correctness, because I do.

Walt, Unless you personally know the co-worker, you can't say that. Based on the way he posed the question, I made the assumption that the co-worker in question was NOT a humorless self-appointed member of the PC police. You never know WHAT might offend someone or why. I say things without thinking all the time. I'm pretty sure I'm NOT a racist or a mean person but that doesn't mean I've never offended anyone unintentionally or otherwise. If a friend or co-worker let me know that they were offened by something I said, I'd probably feel bad about it and try to see it from his or her point of view. I'd also appreciate him or her taking the time to approach me and talk to me about it instead of calling me a bitch or racist behind my back. Plus, for the record, I never said Buckwheat (or "Otay" OR Mike) was "racist". I simply said you can't say the BuckWheat character isn't "racial" because it clearly is. I used to say "Otay, Buckwheat" pretty often and I never once thought of it as racist or offensive, and I still don't. BUT, this thread made me think about it and try to see it from someone else's point of view.
-
You learn something new every day, huh? You didn't mean anything offensive by it, but someone DID take offense, and that doesn't mean she's a humorless uptight bitch anymore than it means you are a racist. Most people associate "Otay" with Buckwheat- the original AND the SNL version. You can't say it isn't "racial", because the original Buckwheat character was essentially a stereotype of a lovable but uneducated black kid from the country, right? Eddie Murphy gave him a more "urban" edge, I guess................ Bottom line- she felt it was inappropriate and respected you enough to tell you how she felt about it. Why not give her the same respect right back, and try to see it from her point of view?

My bias for Frampton Comes Alive probably comes from the fact that I was 13 or 14 when it came out, and I thought he was sooooo cute!! But I still love it! I was also a big Journey fan as a teenager, even though all the "purists" would remind me that they used to be so much better before they got all commercialized!
