Ok Men -Apparently Your Locker Room Fantasy IS True...
tigra replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Locker room, NO, but at home when its just me (or just me and the SO which is how it usually is) I do at times walk around with little to nothing on and will dry my hair or put on make up with a towel wrapped around my waist. Its more comfortable and easier than dealing with a robe or having to keep hiking up that towel. -

I hear you! I did a leg workout with my trainer on Tuesday- LOTS of squats and lunges, not to mention adding extra weight I didn't think I could possibly lift. I told him my SO would be happy about all the "Bootie Enhancing" exercises! And last night, I figured the best way to deal with the sore legs and butt was a good Latin Cardio/ Zumba class! DOH! No weights, but its still a pretty darn good lower body workout! -
OK, the first 5 pretty much went over my head (guess I'm not quite a prt of the 21st century yet.....) but #6???? LMAO! How many times have we seen that? Or how about the people who don't even bother adopting a 2nd "anonymous" user name to talk about their SOs??

I enjoyed a long weekend in a college town, visiting my niece and hanging out with my sister. Needless to say, alcohol was consumed, calories were not counted and there was no working out. But tonight is a training night, so I'll undo some of the damage. -
Scales are evil! According to the evil scale at the gym, I only lost 1 pound, not the 3 my trainer wanted to see. (I blame hormones!) Sigh...... I'm OK with it, I know I need to lose more weight but I also know I'm going in the right direction pretty much the right way for me and I'm happy with my progress. But dayum- its tough to get lectured about nutrition and diet by a trainer who is 20 years younger than me. I feel like I need to work harder at it just to make HIM happy!

Like I said, the scale doesn't tell the whole story. But, its not exactly pointless to weigh yourself every day as long as you are not the type to freak out over an extra pound or two or get overly excited over losing a pound or two that will re-appear in a couple of days. I'm not, but too many people who are trying to lose weight do both, and it can be really self-defeating. Personally, I tend to over eat and gain when I decide to ignore the scale for a few weeks (or months) and I tend to eat a little bit better when I am weighing myself at least a few mornings a week. But that's just me.

First of all, just because its a foreclosure doesn't mean its a bargain. The contracts tend to be one sided, without contingencies or room for negotiation, and more often than not, you'll lose your earnest money if you don't close. Pretty much all the properties need work ranging from cosmetic to structural. You are often expected to bid on or buy without even seeing the property (forget a property inspection) and you are buying "as is". You'll also typically get a deed that offers less protection than a standard warranty deed, although at least in my state the seller still provides title insurance. In my area, I know for a fact that HUD tends to leave their properties pretty much unprotected until closing (one padlock on the front door with literally thousands of keys floating around.) Items and fixtures (even crown molding) can go missing between the day you sign the contract and the day you close. Yes, there are still some real bargains out there, but not quite as many as the infomercials would have you believe.

If you follow these threads, you'll see most of us aren't reporting in with weekly gains and losses, just progress-if we're sticking to a workout schedule, eating right, that kind of thing. Its more about motivation and encouragement. Personally, I've got a love/hate relationship going with my scale. Weighing yourself daily does give you a baseline and lets you spot trends but on the other hand, the scale obviously doesn't tell the whole story.

If its that bad this early in the year, you might want to make a trip to the doctor for a prescription. The past couple of years, my allergies have been a non-issue for the most part but I used to have a really hard time. Flonase worked like a miracle drug for me. I know its pricey and requires a prescription, but for me, it was way better than suffering! For me. it also helped to rotate what I was taking- its pretty easy to build up a tolerance for allergy medications.

Nothing exactly new- I am trying to watch what I eat, but I wasn't that good this weekend. Not too horrible, but I do better during the week! I did work out on Sunday, so that's one more weekend workout. Yeah! Cardio and legs tonight and upper body with the trainer tomorrow. He's planning to weigh me and he wants me 3 pounds lighter than I was two weeks ago. I'm pretty sure I'm there but it will be close. Wish me luck!

Don't fall for it! Its a cheap trick for ratings- she probably won't even get fired tonight. Step AWAY from the TV!

I'm glad you got your foot looked at, but I'm sorry about the 6 weeks down time. I totally believe it about the lunges, Kate Beckinsdale and her booty! Honestly, when I first lost weight -mostly from diet and cardio- so much of it came off my hips and butt that I looked like a BOY from the waist down! My jeans would fit snug at the waist and just hang off my butt. And I've always had curves, always been pretty well proportioned- it didn't matter if I was in a fat or less fat stage of my life! The squats and lunges are giving me my booty back! The SO is loving it! -
Welcome to the bonfire. Just remember, YOU opened this particular can of worms. You know what they say- if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen!

I don't care what you call yourself. I just think this whole thread is ridiculous. I can't do anything but laugh at it.

I think we need to start handing out "Poser Douche Bag" numbers. Since I bought my house, I consider myself lucky if I can afford a few jumps a month. I still keep the trailer at the DZ and I still go and hang out when I can. I wonder how long its been since the person who started this thread actually made a jump. I'm pretty sure she qualifies as a "Poser Douche Bag" herself! Its a pretty amusing thread actually!

When determining value for the loan to value ratio, the lender will generally use the lower of the two- purchase price vs. appraised value. That's especially true in this market. So, even if your house appraises for 10, if you are paying 8 and borrowing 8, as far as your lender is concerned, that's 100% financing and you are at their mercy in terms of the rate, closing costs and PMI. You have a LOT more options if you put 10%, 15% or 20% down.

Oh come one, a "True Skydiver" would just leave her kids in the car with the window cracked a little bit while she jumped. Or just let the kids run amok in the hangar and let the douche bag posers look after them.

New torture last night- BarBell Lunges ................ ow ow ow ow ow ........................ I've come to the conclusion that my wholesome young trainer is an ASS MAN at heart. He just LOVES the exercises that really really work the gluts! I'm already sore ................. -
I used to buy a toasted garlic bagel every morning on my way to work until the bagel shop was mysteriously locked up one day, then the next, then the next. I haven't been able to find a place who made them like they did, but I sure do miss my garlic bagels to start my morning. I don't think it's boring... It's breakfast. Warm asiago cheese bagels from Au Bon Pain. Soooo good, and when they are fresh and warm, they don't need butter, cream cheese or anything else. Yum! I miss those. There are plenty of places that sell bagels near the office, but not those. Just as well, I guess..................

Wow- that's awfully elitist coming from someone with so few jumps. For the record, I pulled the old rip cord on my very first tandem, so was I a skydiver from day one? I mean, not only did I save MY life, I saved my tandem master's life too, right? I'm not just a skydiver, I'm a freakin' HERO!

That sounds like something I might actually use! From what I hear, the chip they have right now is really only good for running. I'd love one that kept track of my time on the elliptical and calories burned, etc. Of course, I'd need a new iPod- I have a 30gb and a 2 year old 4gb Nano that probably won't work with the new technology! (and even if it did, I'd have to pry it away from my SO who doesn't think I NEED more than one iPod!)

The Kashi Go Lean Crunch is pretty good. They've got another one that isn't so good. But, at least they do tell you right on the box that it contains "fiber twigs"! That one tasted like twigs, cardboard and styrofoam! yum! What I have right now is a giant Costco sized box of some all natural healthy cereal. Its not horrible, and not as bad as the Kashi "Twigs and Cardboard" variety, but it definitely isn't a bagel with cream cheese!

I'm just saying you have a little time to heal that shoulder!
