  1. Yeah. I'm like that. I've never had a car accident so I don't wear a seatbelt. t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. So did I... t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. You know, everyone is very harsh with that poor man and his wife to be. She must be under a lot of pressure right now. I mean, these are serious changes for her. Buckingham palace, etc. It's a long way from her current job - ringing the bells at Notre Dame... t It's the year of the Pig.
  4. You pluck your eyebrows.... don't you. Why are women ashamed of their eyebrows? t It's the year of the Pig.

Dreaming, jumping, smiling, flying? There are so many people we owe for where we are today. The 1st generation Birdmen (1935 - 1965?) did the sport such a dis service it took years before the concept of a safe Wingsuit jump was actually accepted. Several people were working on different projects simultaniously. Lets see who we owe here... I'm bound to screw this up so everyone feel free to add and edit, OK? 1. Patrick - for reopening pandora's box. 2. Robi/Jari for the Roberts cut away system and a 1st flight training program 3. Loic for a different aproach and some mind blowingly inspirational footage 4. The Sugar Glider people for looking hard at the "Low and slow" side. 5. Literally hundreds of us ordinary jumpers who grasped this new view of an old concept and practically sold our souls to the reallity of human flight, who now sit and bicker among ourselves over small % tech improvements that do little to improve the tone of a soul in full flight. It all comes back to that Classic section of "Jonathan" ``You are a very fast flier, aren't you?'' ``I... I enjoy speed,'' Jonathan said, taken aback but proud that the Elder had noticed. ``You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn't flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn't have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there.'' Look around you people. We are all there. Can't we just enjoy the ride? t It's the year of the Pig.

    New Gear!

Well.... OK then. I'll buy beer. And my gear isn't pink It's black and red. I guess that shitty phone cam has everyone thinking I think pink is the new black.. But this weekend I'll put it all behind me - literally - and go skydive! t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. 2 or 3? Maybe I wasn't trying hard enough - or maybe I was trying WAY too hard. 20 years is a LONG time! 2 or 3 isn't very much at all! I'm guessing closer to 19 or 20! t It's the year of the Pig.

    New Gear!

It was the rig too. My students were VERY VERY aware of their reserve drills.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. It's a good idea, but it's not practiced everywhere. It's a lot easier when you have a C-207 that does MAYBE 20 loads a day compared to a fleet of twin otters, King air, etc. The Brits have a SIGN OFF check out system after one of their guys sabotaged his own gear - but it hasn't stopped people from dying. I think whatever system you have - or not - it shouldn't keep people from looking around. I see stuff every day that I jump. Some critical, mostly nothing. t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. Juli Baby! Hope all is good with you! Those are incredible pics, and the best I have seen to date. The suit looks VERY clean (Even worn by Tim) but I'm hugely impressed by how the "rear wing deflector" comes up the back of the rig. Citrusdal is looking mighty dry these days... but still brings back memories. Thanks for the news! t It's the year of the Pig.
  12. :7:0 Only jumped Saturday. 5 AFF's and 2 Birdman dives playing with the plane and then Chris, our resident drouge thrower. No beer. It's been a LONG time since I had to buy beer as we only need to buy for others who have done what we just did... t It's the year of the Pig.

    New Gear!

Busted! Most people don't remember that rig.... (sigh of nostalgia) Thing is, with the Dollar where it is, this new rig cost me R7000... and that's cheaper than a Vortex 2. I don't like the ICON and it's "few sizes fits all" philosophy along with its placement of cutaway and reserve handles low down and way back... so with the desision made to buy US gear - I looked around but ultimately settled on what I'd been using. After another year using only Mirages, another Mirage seemed like an even better idea. It's nice liking your new gear so much that you end up with new, new gear. Gear yuppie? Maybe, but that one rig only needed to do maybe 200 dives a year. My G4 did double that last year - and if the whisperings of our Porter becoming a SUPER Porter soon turn out to be true... I may even need ANOTHER rig. But I'll see how I go with what I have. Now, as my Cypri begin to expire, I'll be replacing them with Vigils... Gear yuppie? OK. You got me! t It's the year of the Pig.

    New Gear!

No. It doesn't. And with you being in Botswana for the weekend.... I have 3 rigs to myself! Haha! I PROMISE I won't take your BRAND NEW Safire 2 99 out for a spin. (Although in IDENTICAL rigs - I could mistakenly take the wrong one...) t It's the year of the Pig.

    New Gear!

Sponsored? Nothing on main's and reserves. (But there may be 25% off in future) My rigs are Mirage "Staff" rigs, hence the "JSC" logo which means I get 40% off base, and I think 25% off options. I think it's important to say that I chose Mirage before that deal came through, though, simply because I'd been using the G3 mentioned in my 1st post as a back to back. I'm a Birdman dealer and both Taya and I are BMI's, so it's in our best interests to pay for the Birdman logo on our rigs to help market the products we use and sell. Just a working Joe. But a happy one - especially since my G4 is now a year and 400 skydives older than the G3 - but looks as good as new! t It's the year of the Pig.

    New Gear!

It's here! I got a Mirage G3 as a Wingsuit specific rig, to match my G4 which is now primarily for AFF dives. It arrived yesterday. So I now have Mirage G4, PD 126R, Stilleto 107 and Mirage G3, PD 126R, Safire 119 My GF has the same setup, except her Mirage G4 is for Stilleto 97 and PD 113R and her G3 for Safire 2 99 and PD 113R. We have a 5th rig between us, with Birdman mods, in case either of us need to make a Back to back to back. It's a G3. Pics are taken at night, with my phone, of the unpacked harness. We'll be getting all this stuff packed up for use this weekend! t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. www.square1.com In the last 14 months I've bought a Mirage G4, a Mirage G3, a Stiletto 107, a Saphire 119, 2 PD 126R's, 2 Birdman suits, 2 Neptunes, a Bone Head Mindwarp, 2 Pro Dytters and many, many odds and ends like hook knives, gloves, tube stoes, goggles etc. (Not all this from Square 1, but you get the idea.) You've heard the "outsurance" and "Dial direct" adds. If you have a credit card, you know what to do. t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. Well, reading this thread - I can see you can hold your own. t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. $249 is it in the US. I don't think you'll get lower than that - and as the owner or 2 bought at that price - I'm happy. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. I don't think so. 15 years ago we could keep a C-130 going at a boogie. These days its a King Air and a Porter. t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. Oh, it's a bit more than that, I promise. t It's the year of the Pig.

    s5?

Well - No one will be interested in this, as it only involves my old, boring S3, but between 5 AFF's today, I did 2 great wingsuit solo's, both playing with the pilot after exit for 25 - 30 seconds and staying quite close now, as we've been dirt diving this for about a month - and then finding the 1st Tandem out and doing flyby's off his left wingtip. Just enough summer cloud around to give the perception of plenty of speed - the glimpse of the Tandem Pax's "Wheee" expression and a few people on the ground's comments like "You looked like a Sidewinder missile tracking that plane! So close for SO long!" Ah well. I guess I'll just have to carry on with this OLD BORING STUFF until the NEW and EXCITING S5 comes along.... Hoooo... Some of you guys really know how to bring yourselves down. t It's the year of the Pig.
  24. It's a Pilatus PC-6. A single engined turbine aircraft that takes 8 to 10 jumpers depending on Engine and seating config. We use one at our DZ, http://www.jsc.co.za/Photos.aspx?Show=photos&Mode=0&Cat=Jumpships where you should find some pics. Enjoy. t It's the year of the Pig.
