Take your socks off. Feel for the airflow over your feet. That'll happen if you're wearing any kind of trainers - not if you're wearing boots or skate shoes. Unless you're a martial artist, rock climber, ball room dancer etc, you probably need to work a lot on lower body awareness. t It's the year of the Pig.

How much is your membership this year?
Tonto replied to bigway's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In SA we have 1. PASA membership 2. Aeroclub membership 3. Club membership Licence, Instructional and Pro Rating renewal is free if done at the start of the season. If you're a member of only one club, membership comes to around R1000, or about $140 per year. Jumps cost around $24 to 11000ft, so annual membership is around 6 jumps. Not too bad for me since I do around 350 a year, so it's a small percentage. t It's the year of the Pig. -
I'd go a step further than that. Not directed at you Squeak, but to dating in general. We need to accept some responsibility for the decision to go on the date. If we don't like what's happening, suck it up. There is a human being across the table from you. Many, many other people get along with them just fine. At the end of the evening, that's the time to bail, and then you can do it honestly and politely. Best is to plan dates with an out. Lunch is good, cos you have to get back to work. Coffee is good cos it can extend to dinner, a movie or anything else you can imagine. Mostly, don't date people you wouldn't want to be with anyway. t It's the year of the Pig.

I use reserve slinks on my mains. I just tacked the tabs into the riser to stop them being exposed. t It's the year of the Pig.

Is that why he needs a scoped carbine to bring down an elderly man from a distance he managed to walk in about 12 seconds? That's his pinnacle? t It's the year of the Pig.

Swoopers - could/would you upsize if you had to?
Tonto replied to skybytch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes. I'm in my mid 40's and my one canopy is in the mid 90's. I jump at a DZ 5000 ft AMSL where it's really hot in the summer. (There should be an age to wingloading ratio somewhere to see who's REALLY pushing the limits..) My Wingsuit canopy is a 109, so I'm used to jumping big forgiving canopies. I know I will want to still be jumping when I'm too old to jump a small canopy. I've been jumping over half my life. I don't plan to stop soon. t It's the year of the Pig. -
Not right now. I'm on a GPRS connection through my cell phone, and have very little bandwidth. Will post to this thread next month. t It's the year of the Pig.

Thanks for the great response to this request from so many DZ.com riggers. In addition to the manual, Ned Luker sent me a couple of great pictures showing the proper routing. Thanks again! t It's the year of the Pig.

Thanks Karl, I've mailed both him and Boss Doug, but have not yet had a reply. t It's the year of the Pig.

Anyone got one? If not, anyone have the routing for the cut away housings? t It's the year of the Pig.

Agree with you completely. Even though I had thousands of jumps when I started to fly a wingsuit, I still felt it prudent to do 50 odd jumps on smaller suits before going to an S3. I won't buy a Blade yet. I'm not feeling at all out gunned in my S3-S. t It's the year of the Pig.

Movies with martial arts in them really should have martial artists in them. I don't care if it's ultraviolet or kill bill. You can see who can, and who other people think can with 3 months of personal training and a lot of CGI. t It's the year of the Pig.

Re: [smkdvr628] A friend of mine told me...

THis is a scary statement. Usualy we read stuff on the internet, and check with others to see if it's OK. Now we're doing the reverse. The entire idea of learning to swoop on the internet is flawed in so many ways. It's like the "Learn to fight like Bruce Lee in 7 days" book being read to you in Swahili over the phone. Good luck with that. Anyway. Thread drift. Your question had nothing to do with riser vs toggle, so I'm starting a new thread. t It's the year of the Pig. -
Agreed. My function when tracking is to track as fast, far and flat as I can. That takes all my effort. There must be trust in this sport. Why do we beleive we won't be taken out while in the formation but may be taken out on deployment? If we are jumping with people of such low competance that they can out track us and still have awareness so low they cannot see below them, then we have made many errors before even getting on the plane. t It's the year of the Pig.
