  1. Put down that you've been dealing with everyone's problems from weather, to "I need to leave in an hour for my Mom's birthday and want to do 4 loads from altitude NOW" and have managed really well. You've certainly helped me rack up 600 odd AFF dives (weekends only) in the last 2 years - and still found those freefly and wingsuit dives to squeeze in at the end of the day! Thanks a ton! t It's the year of the Pig.
  2. It doesn't matter. Just remove the shoe and drop it - and that should clear the downplane! On a serious note - As someone who started out when canopies were slow and big and collisions, wraps and entanglements were unheard of outside of the realm of CRW - I'm amazed that now that the planes are bigger, the loads fuller, the canopies faster and there are multiple exit groups - that CRW is as quiet as it is. I have +-700 CRW dives, and although I now jump a Safire 120, Stilleto 107 or FX 92 - I'm glad I have that experience. Real glad. t It's the year of the Pig.
  3. That's cool... but I leave it to you to give the direct translation! t It's the year of the Pig.
  4. Mirage.................................... t It's the year of the Pig.
  5. I meant 70 vertical. I wasn't wearing my GPS, so I have no idea of ground speed or uppers. t It's the year of the Pig.
  6. I believed that too. But remove the thin veneer of civilisation, place them in a war zone without iron disipline being enforced - and you will see horrors you would not beleive possible, regardless of the milenium, side, ideology or religion they're on. Even within the bounds of civilisation, situations like the LA riots indicated just what people are capable of when the rule of law is interupted for a few hours. In a non violent situation you'll still see oportunistic abuse. Speak to a few bouncers - good ones - not the part timers that sell drugs on the side, and they'll all tell you about stopping some guy from walking out of a club at 04h00 with some unconsious wonan over his shoulder.... Men suck. They really do. Looking at the woman mimicking gunfire at that prisoners genitals makes me think women are 100% ready for combat. t It's the year of the Pig.
  7. But they're all work jumps - and I'll be paid $35 a jump to do them.. Does that make you feel any better? I may be able to squeeze in a Wing Suit dive on Saturday and Sunday PM though. Enjoy your 63 skydives in 2.5 weeks. That puts a real spike in your currency! t It's the year of the Pig.
  8. I'm with you there. My own gear is well over what is legal - but it's mine - and my life - so I can make those desisions. I'm not in a position where I can make those desisions for someone else - and even in SA - we need to be aware of the "legal" limitations. t It's the year of the Pig.
  9. Ahh Wendy. I wish my head were in the clouds. I've seen too much to think otherwise - but thankfully, I'm aware that there are some people that will always do the right thing - regardless of the cost. t It's the year of the Pig.
  10. People are evil. Or opportunistic. Those that don't fall into one of those 2 groups are rare. t It's the year of the Pig.
  11. Other side of the world... late Friday afternoon - 16 dives to do this weekend...

    My new Icon

And my new main... Now I just have to figure out how when I get paid at midnight, and 01 May is a holiday - I'll be able to pay for it... Guess it will have to wait till NEXT weekend... Which is no problem, since it will sit in a box till I have enough money for my G3 and a Smart 135... and an S3. The Safire 135, PD 126, Mirage G3 currently hooked up to my Classic will remain operational for quite some time to come! See ya tomorrow. t It's the year of the Pig.
  13. Our DZ would not be able to accomodate you for the same reasons. Our AFF rigs are equipped with Tempo 250 reserves, which are rated to 115 KG (253lbs) for jumper + clothing + equipment. We draw the line at jumper weight of 100kg. (220lbs) There are bigger reserves and mains available, but there is not enough demand to warrant us purchasing such gear. We're also 5000ft AMSL, and the bigger people land fast and sometimes hard at this altitude, particularly in the summertime. As others have said, there are DZ's which accomodate "bigger" students. Call around and find one near you! Good luck, t It's the year of the Pig.
  14. Yes.....???? The post was titled "How do you feel when people talk religion?" You gave your point of view. I answered the question. I found it really amusing. I have no doubt that you were serious, and that your views are valid to your frame of reference. I agree with several aspects of your post, but it suddenly occured to me that you were talking religion, and I knew how I felt - I was laughing out loud. No disrespect intended. t It's the year of the Pig.
  15. Thanks for the reply. I'm 187 out the door, and my distance body position sounds very similar to yours. What I don't understand is how bending your knees slightly (and so decreasing surface area) gets you to float more... Ahh, the little mystries of flight... t It's the year of the Pig.
  16. Crystal. Afganistan was not about expansion. It was about going after a government that had sheltered the man responsible for 9-11. It had the backing of the UN and the entire free world. Iraq is about expansion. It was based on the "WMD / Saddam was involved in 9-11" lie. It had no backing from the UN or most of the free world. t It's the year of the Pig.
  17. ? t It's the year of the Pig.
  18. Afganistan was a UN endorsed Coalition force, not a US/UK misadventure. t It's the year of the Pig.
  19. Get a map and check out the Philippines, Germany, Japan, Bosnia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Panama, Vietnam, South Korea, Grenada, and other non oil producing nations. Maybe you will understand it is not about oil most of the time. Get a Calendar out and see when the 21st century started.. t It's the year of the Pig.
  20. It depends on the guys being picked on. If it were Verwoerd, Malan, Vorster or PW Botha, I'd be picking on them right along with you. Others, like Helen Suzman, I'd argue for till the knives came out and those around me were cold and stiff. I know the US has little respect for European culture, but for us, Nobel Peace Prize winners like Desmond Tutu, FW De Klerk and Nelson Mandela indicate those who chose to take a higher road than some others in history. t It's the year of the Pig.
  21. Storm... Not even the Apartheid government thought he was an idiot... Do you have a link to that quote? I have no doubt that he (Mandela) disagrees with current US foreign policy, but would like to see the context it was placed in. Mandela holds no office in South Africa. He is an old and frail man, but probably represents the South African conscience more than any other person. He is everyone's grandfather, a moral guide to many, and he is not alone in his view of the US. He was co responsible for diffusing a half-century of violence into the country we cherish today, and he has my respect for his non violent and democratic version of “regime change.” If we could solve problems of that magnitude through diplomacy and debate - there should always be a time for talk - as opposed to war. As an African, I can name dozens of African leaders many times worse than Saddam. The US (and the World) did nothing when 800 000 people were killed in Rawanda in 3 months after they pulled out of the UN mission in Somalia. The 21st century US expantion is nowhere where there is no oil, and backpedals out of conflict area's (Like North Korea) that have WMD's and no oil. Do you know the US is building a Naval base on Sao Tome - on the edge of Nigeria's offshore oil? What's the bet there's a few changes there soon. t It's the year of the Pig.
  22. Yeah, but I'd call you Nac on the phone, and I know what they'll find if they search for Tonto... Tonto - 556,000 Nac - 1,840,000 Nacmacfeegle - 963 nacmacfeegle Jumps License In sport, : 1100+ : D 11004 : 10 years. ... Traitor! t It's the year of the Pig.
  23. It was good. Some AFF, some coaching, and a free Birdman dive among some really beautiful clouds, one of which I kept off my wingtip in a big circuit for about 60 seconds of my flight!
  24. Ahh. OK then. You can also be pretty safe on the phone if you buy a "pay as you go" SIM card for your cell phone, as that requires no ID. So they know what number phoned what number at what time, but not who owns the numbers... t It's the year of the Pig.
