Both you and he could lengthen the brake lines and shorten the risers. 2 inches makes a huge difference. Trust me when I say your canopy does not like the front AND the back pulled down at the same time. The bucking you're feeling is feedback that your canopy is not happy with that configuration, but it is your canopy, and you're the one who has to land it, every dive you do. t t It's the year of the Pig.

WTF are you feeding him? Jet fuel? He's turning into a little monster! What happened to that cute tyke you kept wrapped in a blanket? Eh? t It's the year of the Pig.

Following on the "log tunnel time" thread. As an old CReW dog with 700 rotation dives, my average freefall time is a little below average for someone with 4000+ dives, at a little over 50 hours. This made many people happy. Now I'm doing Wingsuit dives, and I'm catching up on all that lost freefall time - and I have the occasional comment that it's not "free" fall. Do I log it? If not, do I go back and take out the time I've spent under a Tandem drouge on +- 700 tandems? Thoughts? t It's the year of the Pig.

That has little to do with where your toggles are on your brake lines, and more to do with what the brake lines do to your canopy. You should be able to lengthen your brake lines(within reason) and still be able to land in zero wind. t It's the year of the Pig.

Yeah, but only if it's a "serious" movie - and not like the "Starsky & Hutch" movie.... "Do it. Do it." t It's the year of the Pig.

6 month plus reserve repack cycles
Tonto replied to bodypilot90's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh. All rigs in South Africa are dangerous too then. I'm doing 400 dives a year on a 6 month repack cycle. Not ALL my rigging repairs happen every 6 months. EVERY MONTH I have zippers replaced, student jumpsuits patched, and there are always Alti straps being repaired, canopies relined, kill lines replaced etc well before a reserve repack. There are times my shoelaces need replacing too - and I don't wait for the next reserve repack to do it. I think you're confusing a "reserve repack cycle" with things that have NOTHING to do with reserve repacks. t It's the year of the Pig. -

I'm guessing your subject line comes from Eddie Murphy's 1988 comedy "Coming to America" staring Eddie Murphy as Prince Akeem/Clarence/Randy Watson/Saul Arsenio Hall as Semmi/Extremly Ugly Girl/Morris/Reverend Brown and James Earl Jones as King Jaffe Joffer... Only one catch. You're more African than Eddie Murphy will ever be! Have a cool trip... and lets chat about you bringing a shipment of wing suits back! t It's the year of the Pig.

I do the "sitting" thing. Copied it off the dude's deployment on Crosswind. There are no BMI's in Africa, so it's kind of making it up as we go along. t It's the year of the Pig.

6 month plus reserve repack cycles

What. 4 month or 6 month? Or a change between the two? It's not important at all. The USPA has 120 days, we have 180 days. It's never been a safety issue for you, nor for us. t It's the year of the Pig. -
Right there with you. Of course, the same could be said for the victims of the Kenyan and Tanzanian embassy bombings. Except of course that rescue work was stopped on "US soil" as "they" searched for evidence - even as the screams of the injured faded. t It's the year of the Pig.

My paternal Grandfather was in an Italian POW camp after being captured at Tobruk. His POW troopship had been torpedo'd in the Med by the allies on the way from Tripoli, I think, or some port on the North African coast. 9 had survived of 1500 men and crew on board - and he was always a bit "strange" after that. He died in a car crash after a night on the town the evening he got home in 1946. My Maternal Grandfather was a Captain in the Cape Highlanders, somewhere in North Africa at the time. He'd also served in WW1. He died of a stroke in the early 1970's. t It's the year of the Pig.

I thought that reputation disapeared in the late 1980's! It's certainly not the case here in South Africa, where transmission is nearly 100% hetrosexual. Freethefly - maybe you should start with "Support group for HIV+ Skydivers." I know there are many people here, + or not, who would support that cause. You can count me as one of them. From there, people may feel they're in a safer environment to disclose their status. You're 100% right that AIDS will only be stopped by awareness, followed by a coresponding lifestyle change. t It's the year of the Pig.

Well, since you've excluded me from the rest, I don't need to keep this civil. Alistair was a fucking nutter. He SMS'd his daughter, and his ex, jumped out of a plane with his friend, climbed out of his gear and whistled in. A F-U-C-K-I-N-G N-U-T-T-E-R. I don't need to know someone to know that what they did is nuts. And I don't need to understand. I can form my own opinions, and when my AFF students, and just about every other jumper I know ask me why this happened, I'll tell them, "Because he was a fucking nutter." Anyone who leaves his wife and children to be with a 23 year old woman - is a nutter. When she leaves him - as she's almost certain to do - being in the zone, while he's in a completely different phase of his life, and bogged down by too much baggage to even budge, it should come as no surprise. Disapointing, perhaps. Heartbreaking, understandably. Fucking nuts. Undenyably. t It's the year of the Pig. -
