  1. A 182 exit I am personally happy with is having my right foot out on the step with the passegers right foot right next to mine. They are holding their harness with their head back on my left shoulder. I ease throught the door so the pax's left shoulder is just outside the door and ready set go. Tell the passenger to kick me in the butt with their heels as soon as they feel us go off the plane to complete the arch. I like this exit since I can chose to flip or not. Either way I make a positive downward move with my right shoulder to get into the relative wind and usually can get the drogue out almost immediatly, a very stable exit! You will find what works best for you and when you do do it again and again. You want to have a pattren or a routine so you can take out as many variables out of the jump as possible. I like the breifly described exit above espically since it works with big and little passengers. The pic kinda shows the exit but I usually have to help their head back up on my shoulder. The students head dosent stay on my shoulder sometimes. I have always expected that anything might come from the students body position wise and I feel like Ican control a lot with this type of exit. Because of the strange things I have had passengers do I dont ever treat any Tandem jump as a "normal" jump! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  2. Why 5 a day for the next 3?? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  3. Well aren’t you damn spiffy as "Mr. Coordinated" Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  4. Riggerrob, your a voice of confusion clarity. I think you hit the likely posibilities related to skydiving.... Regarding the canopy "batwing" I loved my 134 and put about 1000. Nice canopy but not the best reputation. A lot of it was/is from people that have never even jumped one Regarding a "Bat-hang" A lot of plane owners dont like you doing it. Getting your legs kicked up and over is not as easy as it sounds with a 80mph wind. Once up you can hang for awhile before you slip. Usually long enough to get someone to take a pic of you looking back onto the plane upsidedown by your toes. Regarding "bat wings" well lets not..... Scott C. 5. When is it going to arrive at Snohomish. I might try and stop by for a hop! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  6. That sounds like fun, I will try and get out for that one. Who from out of the Seattle area will be in town? Just Skymama? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  7. "cesspool of information" WOW! I have reached a new level! There is a shuttle that runs a number of times a day from SeaTac to the Anacortis /SanJuan Ferry Docks and it is about $30 for an adult one way. Here is the link for information. If you go with this and combine it with the Ferry information you could probably get there pretty cheap: http://www.airporter.com/airporter/airporter.html Kenmore air might be able to get you up there for about $90, give or take. Also check on the internet specials they offer. they have a free shuttle from Seatac to their air terminal. http://www.kenmoreair.com/ West Ile Air also goes there fromm the Seattle area: http://flyaow.com/flight/WestIsleAir%5B3L%5D_tickets_reservations_schedules.htm Here is some more basic information: You travel to Orcas Island either by plane or by ferry. The Washington State Ferry System serves Orcas Island from the mainland terminal in Anacortes several times a day, and from Sidney, near Victoria, British Columbia, once daily. By car, the drive from Seattle to the Anacortes ferry terminal takes about 2 hours. Take I-5 north to the Highway 20 exit just north of Mt. Vernon. Take Highway 20 west, following the signs through Anacortes to the San Juan Islands Ferry Terminal. In the summer, the ferries are crowded. Plan to be at the terminal a minimum of 2 hours prior to the scheduled sailing in order to avoid lengthy delays. You can call the Washington State Ferries at (800)843-3779 for current schedules and advice on when to arrive for your planned sailing. Visit the Ferries web site at Washington State Ferries West Isle Air departs from Boeing Field, near SeaTac airport and arrives in Eastsound, Orcas Island several times daily. Harbor Air (floatplanes) depart from Lake Washington, in Seattle, and arrive in West Sound. Kenmore Air will fly into Deer Harbor by special arrangement. Taxi service, car rentals, and a summer bus line are available on Orcas Island. Be sure to have your local transportation arranged prior to your arrival. Lots of information and hope some of it helps. the WX up here is going to be awesome for the next few days.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

    Pub Problems??

Another week that I cant get to the pub. Trys to connect then says connectins closed. Someone said try to connect on 6700 not on 7000 but I cant find a way to change the connection settings. I'm pretty good with computers but this has me shaking my head. Hope somebody has had better luck then me.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  10. I bought my first eliptical canopy at about 1000 jumps! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  11. Do you mean a "Bat-Hang" with your feet hooked over the leading edge? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  12. I can get cheap cigs, if I smoked, and lots of Fireworks at the Indian (sorrry Native American) reservations out here in Washington. Hell I can even donate my money via all the casino's to the tribe of my choice as well as well (two different tribes and two different casinos within 7 miles of my house. Ephedra should be no problem. Besides, I like the weather out here compared to back there. A little rain is nothing when weighed against summers that just plain suck! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  13. I know a guy selling a 190 Aeroglide (dom '97) with less then100 jumps on it pretty cheap. He is a rigger and does not jump now so the canopy has been sitting in his house for a number of years. Anyway, to help him in selling the canopy I hooked it up for a jumper out at the DZ yesterday to try out. He thought it was a bit slow. I figured that he might think that given he has been jumping a Sabre 190 for his last 30+ jumps. He is looking to buy a main for himself and is trying different canopies to make a comfortable decision in what to buy. His thoughts were that it felt solid in flight but very slow compared to the sabre. He also thought that the flare was not good but watching him land it might have been better if he flared all the way Looks like a solid canopy to get you to the ground but one with not a huge amount of performance. Looks to be a very traditional 7-cell design with no taper of any sort. Probably perfect for a newer jumper or for a demo rig. Since they stopped making them a few years back (somewhere in GA I think) I have not been able to find any information on them in general..... Hope that helps some.... Scott C. 14. Naw, the second ride was a B-day bonus When I got the main back I could not tell which tangled mess was there previously and which ones were there from tumbling after the chop. Slider was still way up on the lines but still never can tell when it nots completely obvious... I did not pack this main and I know the opening sequence was good until inflation. We think it was in the packing. Who knows it also could have just been time for a tandem reserve ride for me. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  15. Had a bad main and a nice reserve on a Tandem last weekend. Just thought I would share... Normal tandem jump from 10.5K, no problems student was good. Released drogue at about 5K and opening felt normal. Looked up and slider was 2/3's the way up and a little more than 1/3 of the right canopy was folded under. Thought "I can get that open
  16. That was funny! A student of Nipplboy it sounds to me... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  17. Actually if you talk with Brian he has a suggested way of basically turning a shoulder and causing the canopy to "lay" on its top skin. I have used it a number of times when the wind was kicking and my Samurai just floated there like a mattress, for lack of a better description! Works great and really took the wind out of play..... I then gather the canopy up and get the slider to the stops. By this time the pressure is much lower and if I want to I pat the canopy from the tail to the nose to get a bit more of the air out. Never really had a problem. As for packing a Airlocked canopy I dont notice a difference at all..... once the air is out it packs up like anny other canopy! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  18. Get a demo. I jump a Big Air Samurai and had a Sabre2 in the past. The Sabre2 is a very nice upper middle level canopy. You can push it a bit and get a good surf and lots of fun turns while in the air. The dive on it is a bit more negative than a first Sabre but still flattens out quickly. I have not jumped a Lotus but have seen a few of them jumped and do like Brians products very much, which is why I jump one. People that I have seen jumping the Lotus really like it and they seem to be in the same class as the Sabre2. IMHO the Airlocks really seem to make a difference in both canopy stability in turblance and in slow flight characteristics, at lest with my Sam. I assume they will positively affect the Lotus as well. Brian has demos and is happy to get one out to you. Give him a call and try it out for a weekend before you buy.... Scott C. 20. Pieing can be an art form depending on how the planning goes or the suprise factor. A word to the wise though, be carefull when you get the pie together. Usually making one yourself is best. a number of years ago I watched a guy get pied with a store bought cream pie of some sort. You know the type, from the frozen food section... Well it was not 100% thawed and the poor recipent ended up with a bloody nose! "good times!" Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
  21. Sounds like good thoughts. I looked for the passed out drunk girl by the pool but you were not there on Sat night. At the Bombshelter yes but passed out by the pool NO, I guess you showed great restraint! Sorry I missed you, some of the people I talked to said she is over there or maybe over there, oh well just wanted to say "Hi" in person... but did enjoy meeting a number of other dropzone.com people!
