Yeah that might help, but knowing "the" kind of crowd Harry runs with that could result in a team member or two requiring a few stiches. Harry is a mad man when you get him riled up! Scott C. It is a awesome 4th today in the Pacific NW. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Harry, That sucks. At least when we were jumping with tha boon dock saints and had a 5 hour drive I showed up, even with crummy weather... Have fun today and hope you get some good jumps in! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

In a pro pack when separating seams between line groups you have 3 with a 7 cell compared to 4 with a 9 cell. That is 3 vs 4 on the right and left of center. Other then that there is no real difference in the packing..... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I know the feeling after closing the Raven II in the V2.2. I would not want to put a Cypres in there as it is. Any how hopefully RWS will get back to me on getting a manual soon. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I have been looking and looking on-line and cant find anything refering to a Vector II. RWS only has informaton on the III and tandems. I sent a E-mail off to RWS earlier this week but have gotten no response regarding getting a Vector II manual. Does anybody have information on the sizing for a Vector II container. I am looking at getting one used as a second rig but I am thinking about swapping out the reserve that is in it so I can fit a cypress in the reserve tray. Right now it seems a bit tight. Any body wana trade a RavenII (218) for a Raven I or similar??? Either way I need to try and figure out the pack volumes for a Vector II V 2.2 Thanks Scott C. Just got my Parachutist today and on the back is Virginia Tech's Stadium down in Blacksburg VA. Good to see the place, not where I would have expected to see it but I'm not complaning. I'm happy to be an VT alumni but those were some fun years. After having spent a good number of weekends during the fall, either in the stadium or at the tailgate parties going on outside, it brings back a lot of good memories. Just a random thought..... I have to agree. I sent a Batwing in to have a new line set installed and they did a bunch of other little things at no charge. They had it back to me quickly. I know some people grumble about precision with the reserve issues that came up a year or so ago but I have had nothing but good service from Precision. Scott C. Another post made me think about the jumping "pace" that the dropzone.com users are on this year. Pretty basic question..... I looked and after last weekend in Boise Idaho (fun boogie by the way) I am at 160 jumps for 2003 so far. Not too bad for the Pacific NW. Curious to see the results....

Do they have coordinate color with the gear/jumpsuit? Does that put you over the edge or is it too much primping for a guy Everybody has "Hot Buttons" I guess... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

OK, My plans are in place and I will be in Salt Lake City on the 11th of July, a week from friday getting in at 9:00AM. My work stuff starts on Saturday around 1:00 so I might be able toget a few jumps in early Sat morning as long as I can get to the Airport before 12:00 to drop my car off and catch the shuttle back to "lovely" downtown Bountiful where the meeting is . I might just go straight to the meeting from the DZ and return the car later if I need to.... NOW the question. Is there a SLC area DZ that will be jumping on Friday the 11th. Which one is the suggested place to go..... Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Regarding the couple of DZ's in the area that hopefully are jumping I need to get an idea on how far they are from SLC and what planes they are flying and which one has the best chance of jumping on Friday.. Any help-suggestions is appreciated! I want to jump but if I need to go find a place to do something else I can do that as well but I would like to jump. Hell I would even be happy to do a few tandems (RWS) if that will be a more likely way to get me in the air.... Feel free to PM me...... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

A couple of things here I thought were interesting regarding the airlocks. I jump a Samurai and have had no more trouble with winds compared with my previously non airlocked canopy's. There may be a couple of very easy tricks to it that are unique to the airlocked canopy like getting the canopy on its topskin with winds once in the ground, but in general i have not found it to be any more difficult to deal with after landing. There is no difference when packing. Once the canopy is over your shoulder, airlocked or not, the nose is generally not "open" on any canopy so the air was not going out the front anyway. To me it packs the same. If there is a lot of air any canopy I will lay it on its side and "roll" across it to get the air out, the airlocks dont seem to hinder this process either. Regardig preceved benifit and purchase based on overall characteristics that is 100% correct. My precption is that my Samurai flys very very stable in a little chop compared to other canopy's. Will the airlocks prevent a colapse, no if the conditions are right any canopy will collapse but it feels more solid in some tricky winds. Also it seems to have a great deal of slow speed lift, partially from the airlocks I am sure but also partially from the airfoil design. Basically I like the way it flys and opens. The airlocks seem to have a few advantages in my eyes but a majority of the flight characteristics are not soley based on the airlocks, they cant be since they are just a part of the design. I bought the canopy becuse of the way it flew. Along with how it flys, the fact that Brian knows his stuff and is was more then happy to engage in a few lengthy but very enjoyable conversations about canopy's (his and others) on the phone put me over the hump in sending him a order. I have a signature series and the service and turn around was awesome, thanks Bri! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Lost Cell Phone at Skydive Elsinore Saturday

Did ya Call it? Hope you find it. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
I have found, with a non-cross braced canopy, a good upper end of load that produces a good deal of speed and distance but also gives good flare at the bottom end is around 1.8. I put about 1000 jumps on a canopy loaded at 1.8. Of those jumps a number were also on a canopy the next size down with a load at a little over 2 . When looking at the way the canopys performed I could consistently get better landings with the 1.8 load. Speed was better with the smaller canopy but the lift produced by the airfoil at the end of the swoop was better at the 1.8 load which gave better landings. Just my $0.02 Scott C. Anybody have a good site for gif images of skydiving or canopy's? Line art or clip art or something like that. Any suggestions would be appreciated..... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Would you pay the re-pack if you packed a mal for a friend?
sdctlc replied to tosca's topic in Gear and Rigging
At one of the DZ's I do Tandems at I don’t pack all of the time but many times I do. I did have a function on a tandem a few weeks ago on a rig I did not pack. First inkling on that is Shit happens. If you want to go to a place where packing a tandem is a stressful experience there is Michael Hawkes (I think) who owns the Tandem DZ down in Vegas. I read a policy one time where it basically said ALL tandem packs are taped and if a function happens and it is traced back to a packing error then the packer pays the re-pack. They also had a rotation of packers and a traning/re-traning plan in place on packing the tandems as well. Not so fun as a packer I would guess but you would not have a question as to how the TM wanted it packed, there was only one way.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
How is your NEW Infinity serving you there shark? It did look nice.....

What do your parents think of your skydiving?
sdctlc replied to andy2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My Dad's words were: "Juesus Christ, just keep flying the planes and dont f**king jump out of them!!" After that it took some time for him to even think about talking about it. He did not like it but he really did not pressure me to stop. I was actually suprised that I got him out to see me jump once about 9 years ago. My Mom knows I jump but does not really want to think about it. She also has seen me once (same day as Dad) and has seen some Video but does not support it. I think it is along the lines of I know your going to jump but I dont want to know about it! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
Unless the Mirage fits like a glove, I would go with the New infinity that will fit like a glove. Now saying the Mirage does fit like a glove, if the colors dont float your boat get the Infinity that is the colors you want.. Now IF the colors are what you want AND it fits like a glove then it is up to you to decide if the wait for a brand spanking new rig is OK for your needs! Some side things to think about is which one fits better into your style of flying (how does it feel on your back) If you can get one of each to put on do it given the fact that each rig will have a different feel in the air and under canopy.... ALSO which one has the "look" you like. Both rigs you mentioned are nice and you will find many people saying great things about each. I dont really know of many "off" comments about either. Personally I would tend to lean towards the infinity, again personal preference, but if you think about it your preference is all that really matters if the rig fits and has all of the current options that are considered top of the line in the industry today. Good luck in picking a new rig! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I lived down in Portland for a couple of years and it is a great little town. There are a bunch of things I miss about it compared to living in the Seattle area, which is also a great place to live. But that said depending on what you looking to do you will probably have a number of choices. Check out the link below to see if anything looks good. http://portland.citysearch.com/ There are a number of sites out there but this one is pretty good for getting info and stuff to do.... Scott C. You have got to be f**king kidding me!!! I am at a loss for words. On the side shot it looks like his legs are slightly bent to "fly" himself to match the slope of the hill. One question for the participants, is the idea here that he wanted to see if he could fly the hill/slope as a prelude for trying to land it???? It sill looks impossible to survive given he is hualling ass down the hill. The idea of landing though seems a little bit closer to being a possibility after seeing the video.... Scott C.
