That is a great movie. If your a jumper the skydiving scene is worth watching the movie but the whole movie is very funny! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Square one has them for $23 under the catalog-> full face Helmets -> down about 3/4 of the way. This should be the one you need... "I-3066737 OXYGN SKYLENS CLEAR SPARE 23.00 " Also they note: "Replacement Lenses for Factory Diver, Carbon Fire and OXYGN Helmets Please note: If your helmet was purchased prior to September 1994, replacement lenses are no longer available for those helmets." Square One Catalog Hope that helps "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

First off I dont know the answer but one thing to look at is the articulation of the system. Hip only vs. Hip and Chest articulation. I tend to believe that a properly fitted harness will fork fine but the shifting of weight while in the harness will be affected by the different design regarding the atriculation. I have one rig that has full atriculation (Hip and Chest). This one IMHO seems to be a little "looser" regarding weight shifting while under canopy. On a side note it seems to be much more sensitive under opening compared to my Hip only articulated rig. Both rigs fit well so I dont really feel a big difference when i work on an approach turn with both harness and riser input, but then again I am not on the swoop tour either... Scott C. I believe that they do. Also, I do know that Free Fall Accessories services all types of altimeters as well. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I agree that for a true stastical analysis you need at lest three (3) but the more the better, obviously! That said I did think about, but did not note in my post, the amount of "test" data that had to be generated by the company. I assumed that the general consensus would be that for the unit to be released it had to have gone through a considerable level of testing. After reading some of the reasoning for peoples reluctance towards or in some cases "anti" Vigil stance it seems that the level of testing and R&D that went into the unit did not count. Some people seem to be against the unit based on a delay due to a lawsuit while others spoke of a rumored problem with a "BETA" unit. I thought beta units were made to do R&D. Dont they have the ultimate purpose of helping the manufacturer to a point where a production unit can be generated?? The end result that we are looking at now is that the Vigil is here and it will be subjected to both real world use and the free-market! Some people are going to buy it ASAP others are going to wait and see what happens. I hope the unit performs as well as the cypress has over the last 12+ years. Did the cypress have glitches, sure. Were there people against it (cypress) when it came out, sure. Some of the same things happened when the Cypress was released as is happening now with the vigil. Time is going to tell but good luck to the company! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

When your looking for a new altimeter dont forget to look at Free Fall Acessories! I recently purchased one from them and find it to be the nicest altimeter I have owned. Extremely smooth and accurate movement. Now the highest I have jumped it was just undr 17,000 and it was spot on when comparing it to the altimeter the pilot was using. The other bonus was the custom made altimeter face that they made for mine! They have been running ads in Parachutist or you can go to the website Free Fall Accessories Good Luck! Scott C. I think what people are constantly forgetting is that AAD's are back up items. Yeah sh*t happens and the "back-up" is there for the rare occurrence when it does and you need you ass pulled out of the fire. Does the Vigil have the 12 year track record of the Cypres, no but how could it, its new??? BUT being new is not necessarily a bad thing and it does seem to have addressed some of the issues people had with previous non-accepted AAD's. I have made well over 1000 jumps w/o an AAD and then after I got one I have made most (read that as "not all") of my jumps since then with the AAD, yes to decrease the "what-if" factor. Would I jump w/o one again, yeah it is not something that makes me sit up at night in a cold sweat as it seem to be the case for many out there. Finally would I buy a Vigil for my next AAD, yeah I would! There really has been nothing that they have done that would make me think it was not good. Lawsuits happen and my guess is that Airtec is worried about losing market share. They should be worried if a unit can come into the market that gives it a run for its money. Is there a track record of saves, no and the fact is that its new. Kim noted a fire at the correct altitude when the jumper had it calibrated incorrectly, from that instance it seems to have worked just fine. The only problem that I can see is that there was a delay for a number of months with delivery of units after product information was released. That made some people mad and made others think the delay was an indication of problems with the unit. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

How could EVERYONE here not want one?!?!?

That looks like the thing I saw a small company working on and doing some 24" test flights with at Lodi a month ago or so. Does anybody know if that is it or is it something else. What I heard was that a FAT check from the military was waiting for them when they demonstriate that it can fly something like 100 yards at an altitude of 3 to 4 feet. Looks cool but not too practical. Good luck to them though. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
Nice looking rig! My new one will be here in 4 weeks. I think it is set to arrive when I am on a business trip but that is the way it goes..... Does wings take the pictures of the rigs? A lot of the pictures that are of peoples "new" Wings are on the same background and rig stand, just like on the wings website. Do they send it too ou before you get the rig? Just curious since all of the pics of the different wings look very similar in how its set up, background ect..... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Hey C, There were a few days at the DZ last summer that I know you were asked if you wanted to jump and you passed, that will teach you for next year. Forget that neat new computer, you need air! On a side note, there was sun this week, Monday! The sunniest day of the week in the Pacific NW.... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

PD's new aggresive selling policy!
sdctlc replied to garywainwright's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yes it happened. I know Gary (who started this thread) and the guy who was given the wrong canopy. It's no 'story' but I think the 'agressive selling policy' comment was meant more tongue in cheek than it's been taken. Gus The problem is not with PD if it was just a demo canopy, things happen when something is sent out. If that was the case here then the person receiving it should have noticed. When I have demoed a canopy that was sent to me I have always given it a good looksie to make sure all was OK and that it was what I wanted. Secondly anybody that is equipted to jump either canopy should know the differences between them and realize that that packing a "7" cell closed leading edge design is a bit different k then a "9" cell airlocked design. At least I would think they would in nothing else then the number of lines. If it was a demo "rig" that was mislabled or just handed off incorrectly then yes I would say that the error would be with PD. I seem to recall that there was a story about a PD canopy being hooked up backwards by PD earlier this year at a boogie they were doing demos. Stuff happen if they are supplying the rig to demo or packing their rig into your container to test jump. Never the less, IMHO, with the two canopies noted in this thread I believe that if you can fly a 120 Vengence then you can fly a 120 Velocity. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
Got 6 of 10 but then I probably dont have as much time looking at pictures as the current champ Ivan has Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Great recipe.. Though I am not much of a baker, I'm making several batches this year!!... ; ) Christmas Cookie Ingredients: 1 cup of water 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup of sugar 1 tsp salt 1 cup of brown sugar lemon juice 4 large eggs 1 cup nuts 2 cups of dried fruit 1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila Sample the Cuervo to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer...Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK, try another cup ... just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit, Pick the frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who giveshz a sheet. Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher. CHERRY MISTMAS "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Landed a PD126 loaded at 1.8 and thought I was going pretty fast so to be safe took a wrap and when I flared I went back up a bit, canopy gave a very strong flare and impressed me. Stood the landing up no problems but dont recomend that load on a reserve, I was mooooving. My current rig I load the reserve at about 1.2 to 1.25 and feel that is more appropiate to my needs..... Well after a raid at his "neverland" ranch this morning, they issued a warrant for his arrest and in an news conference noted that child molestation charges, multiple counts, would be comming soon.... http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/Music/11/19/jackson.ranch/index.html It is a sick world "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Hey "C", That is funny! I have always wondered why the TV has to have a crappy/catchy name for everything and constantly run a "breaking news" for a problem that has been going on for hours. At least other people find it anoying. It is the "good times" like this that make you wish you went to Fla the other weekend! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
