On most canopies you can spin it up if you jam the toggle down. BUT if you initiate the turn a little and get your momentum going in the right direction you can really get the toggle down and keep it down for the fun fast spin. Gettig your momentum going is key since it is less likely that the canopy will spin faster then you (twist up above you) if you are starting to go the direction.. Hope that made sense Scott C. That seems to be a bit of an overexpectation and a sad comentary on society as a whole. Manufacturers test and do what they can to make sure that simple things dont happen but still when you start letting the general population get their hands on "new things" people are going to find a way to mess it up. Miss-use is not something that the factory can control and I fnd it hard to blame them for this. If it turns out that the instructions need to be changed and dumbed down then do it but I have not seen them so cant comment on it. I am not saying that you should run out and buy a "New Toy" and I think Ron absolutly has the opinion that probably 90% of the jumpers have.. You may like the idea but dont want to be an "early innovator". Fine but I am sure there were little bumps with early cypress units. The big difference is that back when the cypress was really starting to come out the information superhighway was no where what it is now so information was not as easily dissimenated.. Scott C. I think you have to look at the % off and the value of the savings. It was noted that they are a commodity and they will sell for what someone is willing to pay. That said you have to think about what you can get from a dealer upfront and see if its worth buying teh cert. I paid $30 for a PD 35% off and it saved me well over 100 on a new reserve. For me it made sense to make the purchase... Now when they start going for $100 or more it may be worth something but you are starting to get away from the value... What altitude do you pull at when you jump from 13.5K???? Around 3K?? You will be pulling at the same altitude that you normally do. Sure subterminal, hell a softer opening. I have bought and sold a number of items on the classfieds. If someone is not willing to work with you as a buyer or a seller, that is a flag. If they wont answer questions that is a flag. Things like that.. We all like to believe that skydivers are all the best and pass along nice warm fuzzy feelings but people are people and spending a grand or more is still a grand or more. I have been very luckey and have been happy with the deals I have worked on line. Dont be overly anxious to buy, look around and get a feel for both what is out there and what you want. DO your homework and if you spend some time you will start to see a range of value. Flags should go up if gear is outside that range up or down. When a good deal comes along and you have been doing your homework you will know it. Generally these dont last that long. Sellers needs to be honest with the value of the gear but at the same time the buyer cant just go and try and low ball, there has to be a bit of realism on both sides... Basically do your homework, talk with the seller and if you are unhappy with their response to questions, how they are working with you or if they are pressuring you remember your the buyer! Start out this evening at one casino where I am getting my ass handed to me throwing dice. After awhile buddies and I say F*ck it lets go to the "other one" (two casinos abut 7 miles from my house either way). Get to the new casino grab another beer and try to feel the vibe out at the craps table. One table sucks but the other one is hopping, 8 on each end! There is some guy just hooting and hollering over hitting on a $3 field bet like he laid out a $20 "Yo". Nothing to lose but more money so get in on the tabe and before I know it the loud guy is shooting lights out, still only bettng the pass line and the field. Anyway he is still doing all that he was before, betting only pass and field, but god damn if he is not up tossing $$$ for about an hour. I go from hating this guy and casino's to Loving it all!
