The 1.6x Crop Factor What's a Crop Factor? Because these sensors are 1.6x smaller than film, they show an area equivalent to the area shown by a lens 1.6x as long on 35mm film. A 100mm lens on one of these cameras shows the same area of view that a 160mm lens would show on a 35mm film or full-frame camera. Multiply a lens' focal length by 1.6 to get the focal length of a lens which, when used on a full-frame or 35mm film camera, gives the same angle of view as that lens does on one of these cameras. Examples: "This lens on these cameras" then "looks like these do on a 35mm camera " 10mm 16mm 12mm 19mm 14mm 23mm 16mm 26mm 17mm 28mm 18mm 29mm 20mm 32mm 24mm 39mm 28mm 45mm 35mm 57mm 50mm 81mm 60mm 97mm 70mm 114mm 85mm 138mm 100mm 162mm 135mm 219mm 200mm 324mm 300mm 486mm 400mm 650mm 500mm 811mm 600mm 973mm 800mm 1,230mm 1,200mm 1,950mm "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

What (Who) do I look Like, Glen?? I figured as much Brian, still a really nice fast edit! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

It is the mother load as he has out of the 162 jumps listed, 3 Wingsuit jumps and 20 video jumps! Mad Skillzzzz I do have to say we joke but there are some good well founded reasons for the poking of jump numbers.. Absolutely no other gauge is noted (current or not) and past happenings tend to make what is shown be a bad mix. The sky is not going away anytime soon so why not work on the things you need to to be safe?? Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Nice job there Brian... Glad I gave you my tape as I would not have gotten something out that fast! The only thing I missed seeing was the near double tail head slap I did on Mike and Monkey on the last dive when I went from Top video to back flying lead Really nice job on the quick video put together! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

It was a fantastic weekend jump wise and weather wise. Thanks to Brian for being the one that started the idea of a last minute migration to Lodi. As Monkey noted, I gave my footage to Brian who wanted to do something with it. The dives were really enjoyable and the combining of vertical and horizontal with multi points was a good challange. Really one of the better weekends I have done!

See if you can get Glen out of his hole.. If he does not come it will yet again prove he is president of the EE fan club... Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

OK, the weather is just too bad and does not look 1000% promising at home this weekend so I will be there on Sat Morning in Lodi ready for some fun! Scott C... "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

AAGGUUUHH, this makes me want to get some air time.. I might need to look into last minute flights... SEA to SAC flights are spendy! How far is SFO to Lodi as I don't usually fly in there but flights are not too bad cost wise? Scott "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Seriously, how old will I be? Also: paragliding and the path to wingdom

Kamloops is one of my favorite places to go and jump! I try and get up there for the May Meet each year and am planning on attending this year as well. I would be happy to talk to you about moving towards wingsuits and some of the pre-requesets needed. Also there are a number of WS jumpers up in that area that could help as well. First step though is to get a first jump and to see if it is something that you want to do more and get into. Thinking about Kelowna, was there not a place that is closer then Kamloops in Vernon? Okanagan Skydive Centre?? Don't know if it is still up and running but that might be a closer option if Kamloops is too far.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
The Raptor is a fantastic suit! I love Mine.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

About to head out to dinner with wife and kid. Then leaving for SLC tomorrow morning for a business meeting. Snowing down there I hear. Hope no issues getting in. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

With a Wingsuit you need to think abut the way the arm wings are attached to the body. Earlier suit designs laced up (front and back) of the wing both above and below where the MLW passes through the wing. This allows for the leg straps to be on the inside of the suit. There have been instinces where a WS jumper did not tighten the leg straps or didn't put them on but the design of the wings attached to the body above and below the MLW Pass Through prevented them from leaving the harness, i.e. the lacing of the wing above and below held and the system stayed together. Newer suits with the over the shoulder zips might not be as strong in this case but I am not trying to compare that towards your question. Now with a chest strap you are entering a different dynamic of forces but with the lace front and back above and below the MLW pass through. It theoretically could be enough to hold. Not sure again on the zip style suits.. It would be hard to leave the harness with an above and below wing attachment making a more solid MLW "pass through" but not with a above only wing attachment seen with the Intro. On opening w/o a chest strap you can fall forward and then slip the rest of the way out, which has happened in the past on non-wingsuit jumps. Since this thread most likely is coming out of the tragic incident in Sebastion, a thing to think about is the new training style of suit, the Intro. Before any conclusions are drawn I want to please note I am NOT saying the person was wearing an Intro but if it was a first or second WS jump student, the chance is good they may have been wearing an Intro. That said, I think the Intro when all gear items, Wingsuit and Harness/container are on correctly, is a fantastic training suit given its ease of use. That ease of use makes it a blend between a normal jump suit and a wingsuit where you don't have the lacing. The arm wing is not attached below the MLW pass through, though the leg straps still go inside the suit. In a no leg strap around the legs situation (not with Loose straps around the legs but with NO leg straps around the legs), you could slip through on an opening. The bottom portion of the arm wing is NOT attached providing a solid "pass through" and the cross connector (webbing between the MLW and the main tray/lower portion of the container will not be captured in that pass through as the bottom is not attached. This would result in a jumper leaving the container and falling away. The bottom line is there are lots of ways to mess up and the wingsuits today can add in certian circumstances, a little bit of a chance to save your life when things are not hooked up correctly compared to a regular Jumpsiuit. i.e. the pass through reasons noted above. NOT something I would want to try and the best way to give yourself the best possible chance is to wear your gear correctly! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

The trick on the big "Combat Box" Formations is that they were not level. They were also designed to provide maximun protection from attacking fighters for the gunners.. Wiki Info Another site Picture Scott What is this about Ed Claiming jumpers already... Dammit, I better get on that for next year ASAP.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

LOL, I figured there had to be a Record somewhere.... You planing on heading over to the US in '09, maybe for the Bigger "one point" way (as someone called it) in Nov.. You can be on my plane... Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Well would the point be to know what the criteria was for that 35 way? "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Kristian Teufel of the Guinness records management team World Records verified in a letter dated April 25, 2008, that the 35-airplane formation flights by a group of Van's RVs set the Guinness World Record for "Largest civilian formation flight." Scott C. Here is a better couple of pics. Even they are showing a little movement and dynamic changes between them bt it is a hell uv'a nice formation. Looks like the base 35 way on the 71 that was commented on a number of times.. Scotty should have been there faster to make it a nice perfect 36 way.. 35 Way RV 1 35 way RV 2 "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I would agree that Sebastian is awesome in its views. But depending on what you want to do in addition to jumping, then you can look at Fla or SoCal as there are a ton of options outside of the DZ's. The choice would depend on travel costs/time. You have options in Hawaii but island hopping can get expensive. I am assuming that you want to do other things in addition to the jumping but if it is just jumping then any "destination" dz would fit the bill.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

Pinnacle Studio 10 DVD Burn Problem

If it is Studio try saving it as an avi file and transfer that file to another program to burn.. Just a thought.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -

How many jumps did u have when u did your first wingsuit jump?
sdctlc replied to mrbiceps's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I think the absolute 200 is a min that should be looked for. Yes it is just a number and that is not saying that you can or can't make a wingsuit jump and live, it is more for the background "Air" experience that you need to react correctly if/when things go wrong. With a wingsuit the variables are different and can happen way faster compared to a non-wingsuit skydive. Given that fact, with out a solid background to draw from when things happen you have a much higher chance of reacting incorrectly. The suggested minimum jump # is not so much for the 99% of the time that everything goes right, it is for the 1% of the time that it does not and you have to correctly react. All that said these threads do get amusing and I don't care what Mad Crazy Skillz you have (not directly directed at MrBiceps as he already said he did not have crazy skillz in a post in this thread) the more you jump before adding the variables a wingsuit gives, the better and safer you potentially can be. All that said, I was about 2700 jumps before I did my fist WS jump.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!" -
I will toss my Birthday well wishes in for you as well! Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

There was this one time at band camp... Well not band camp but in a Beech 18, sounded like a shotgun went off about 8500' Smoke and oil coming off the left door side engine. Pilot told us to hold on a bit while he got us closer to the DZ. All exited no issues and then the Pilot got the plane down. As it touched down the engine completely seized up and the prop stopped.. Have had some other issues in a plane but the Beech was the one I seem to remember the most.. Scott C. "He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"
