  1. I recently read in a newspaper that roughly 75% of all mortgages written in California during the past three years were ARM's, and that down payments were only 5%. While this might look nice while property values rise 18-20% annually, there will certainly be serious trouble ahead as rates rise due to deficit spending. A downturn will wipe-out many middle-class families who are deeply in debt.

You might look at the ESS Profile goggles, which are very spendy but top quality and low profile too. ESS Goggles
  3. While the Outlook Express program is sophisticated it is also very popular making it the target of malicious programmers. I would browse over to Mozilla's site and download the Firefox and Thunderbird preview release packages, which are both top-notch freeware. http://www.mozilla.org/

The concept of a residential drop zone airport is skydiver heaven until a rotten egg fouls the air. The situation at Kapowsin Air Sport is the subject of an article in the Skydiving newspaper this latest issue.
  5. Probably not! As Plato would say, "She doesn't know that she doesn't know."
  6. In the U.S. it's a good idea to buy a rig from a regional manufacturer rather than buying one from the opposite coast if resale time and value are a concern.
  7. If there were no speed limit then slow drivers would stay out of the fast lane. Nevada used to be this way, and slow drivers rarely ventured into the fast lane for fear of being rear-ended by someone traveling at 120+ mph!
  8. I want to hear about the successful woman who dates a homeless man.
  9. Yes, I did contact eBay. I had to first e-mail myself so that I could "forward" the message to their "spoof" e-mail address. Unfortunately, eBay is very tough to contact. 10. Thanks for the markup help!
  11. This thief simply copied an auction that closed, and used the information to open another auction. I contacted the legitimate buyer, and he said he's keeping the velocity, and that the new auction is a scam! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7100641365 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7105300900 The thief used: "T R ", and maybe one of you knows this person.
  12. You should consider the "full" insurance for that rental car. If something should happen the extra cost of the insurance will be cheap. Here's the catch: you not only pay for the damage, but also for the time that the car is not available as a rental, which could add up quickly. Enjoy!
  13. Are there kids involved, or just your paycheck?
  14. Well, I know worker productivity has increased over the years, and that younger people are better educated today leading to higher incomes. Unfortunately, consumer debt is too high, savings are too low, pensions are in deep trouble, healthcare costs are out of control, housing is hyper inflated, and the demographic storm of 80-million babyboomers retiring hasn't made landfall yet. All the ingredients for a nasty economic cocktail and terrible hangover are on the table, yet neither party's leadership or their current priorities reflect the depth of these problems. On the other hand, I'm way out of my depth concerning economics, so I may be over reacting. Maybe I should just get out that Capitol One card and live the life I deserve!
  15. Chances are neither of them will make any real change to deal with the babyboomer issue. Try this guy's piece; what if he's only half right? http://www.thegreatbustahead.com/pi_article_feb2004.pdf
  16. If there were no dental insurance programs to fleece then the dentist's fees would come back down closer to reality. Liability insurance is also adding to your expense too. Many of my friend's dental plans from work are being scaled way back dumping the bulk of charges to the patient.
  17. The biggest change for you will probably be the zero-porosity canopies. I'd get lots of advice in this area as you don't want to fall back on old habits developed with an F-111 canopy. Welcome back!

    Bald in Lodi?

LODI - Those who have fretted about their receding hairlines, contemplated the comb-over or had the hairpiece from hell, there is reason to rejoice. Gary Arnold understands your angst. He embraces it. And he wants to do something about it. That's why, every Wednesday at Arnold's white-tablecloth eatery, bald guys -- and gals -- eat for free. Gratis. Nada. Nothing. That's right, a full meal free for the follicly challenged. Partial baldness earns a partial discount. Bad hair transplants? A 10 percent surcharge, he jokes. ``Bald used to be an embarrassment, but with pro athletes and Vin Diesel, it's taken a different turn,'' said the 52-year-old Santa Clara native. ``It's an in thing to be bald, and it's sexy to be bald. My wife talked me into shaving my head, and I love it. I think bald -- bald is beautiful.'' Arnold's marketing scheme -- Wednesdays used to be slow -- has won him acclaim around the world. Australians, in particular, seem fascinated by the concept (Arnold said he has done five Aussie radio call-in shows), and a crew from Japan is slated to drop by for an inside look at the phenomenon this month. Gary's Uptown Restaurant and Bar was featured in a recent issue of the National Enquirer, and a story about it is displayed prominently at www.stophairlossnow.com, billed as ``Europe's largest and most innovative hair loss Web site,'' as well as www.baldrus.com -- a Washington, D.C.-based group whose founder boasts, ``I'm too sexy for my hair.'' Arnold has even been approached by a company that sells headblades -- for keeping your head smooth and shiny -- that is interested in sponsoring a promotion at the restaurant. ``Most bald guys have a sense of humor about it,'' said Arnold, who played football at Archbishop Mitty and honed his culinary skills at Uncle John's Pancake House. ``Only one guy denied that he was bald. He refused to take a discount.'' On a recent Wednesday night, just about every party that walked through the door included someone with a little shine up top. They were handed a special ``Bald Guy's Menu,'' with nine dinner entrees, including Arnold's personal favorite, the four-piece fried chicken dinner that includes soup or salad and fries. Whether it was their first or their 15th visit, everyone was in good humor. Free food will do that to a person. ``It's a great gimmick,'' said Frank Kearne, who was dining with his wife, Lylene. ``A lot of guys try to hide their baldness, but I say, it's a fact of life, so let's have fun with it.'' That was what Arnold was thinking when he unveiled the idea in April.Make no mistake, Gary's is no greasy spoon. This is a white-tablecloth establishment complete with candles and cloth napkins. During the dinner hours the wait staff wears tuxedo shirts and bow ties. And the portions aren't small. Most folks leave the restaurant with doggie bags. Every Wednesday, Lloyd Holt takes the bus from nearby Stockton to Gary's for his free meal, usually the skillet steak, done medium rare. He figures between bus fare and tip, he spends about $5 for a pretty filling meal. ``At first when I heard free food, I thought I'd come by and check it out,'' Holt said. ``The quality of food is just incredible.''Still, there were a few folks eating dinner who weren't quite ready to declare themselves totally bald -- even for free eats.``This isn't bald,'' said Stan Engleman, who argued that his thinning hairline was really a ``giant part'' that he had been working on for the past 50 years. ``It's almost where I want it to be,'' he said, rubbing his head and smiling. While Bald Guys Eat Free might not be his biggest moneymaker, the hope is that the bald guys will come in another night and bring their friends and families with them. The promotion has made Wednesday the restaurant's busiest night after Saturdays, when prime rib, music and dancing are offered. And it seems some folks will go to great lengths to get a free tri-tip sandwich or a filet of red snapper. Arnold swears -- swears -- that a bald man and a bald woman came in one Wednesday for their first date.Larry and Toni Miller visited Gary's for the first time recently. Larry had the flatiron steak; Toni the chicken Caesar salad. They pronounced the food fantastic and the bill -- a hefty $9.64, tip included -- even more fabulous. ``He's been balding since high school,'' Toni Miller said about her husband, who still has a touch of white fuzz around the sides of his head. ``About 15 years ago he decided to give up the ghost and just go with it.''Added her husband: ``God made only a few perfect heads. The rest he covered with hair.''
  19. I hope I'm not being too inquisitive, but why?
  20. I don't know if this is new or old news, but it is interesting if you haven't seen it before. *** text follows *** The pictured Iraqi jet, an Russian MiG-25 Foxbat, was found buried in the sand after an informant tipped off U.S. troops. The MiG was dug out of a massive sand dune near the Al Taqqadum airfield by U.S. Air Force recovery teams. The MiG was reportedly one of over two dozen Iraqi jets buried in the sand, like hidden treasure, waiting to be recovered at a later date. Contrary to what some in the major media have reported, not all the jets found were from the Gulf War era. The Russian-made MiG-25 Foxbat being recovered by U.S. Air Force troops in the photos is an advanced reconnaissance version never before seen in the West and is equipped with sophisticated electronic warfare devices. U.S. Air Force recovery teams had to use large earth-moving equipment to uncover the MiG, which is over 70 feet long and weighs nearly 25 tons. The Foxbat is known to be one of Iraq's top jet fighters. The advanced electronic reconnaissance version found by the U.S. Air Force is currently in service with the Russian air force. The MiG is capable of flying at speeds of over 2,000 miles an hour, or three times the speed of sound, and at altitudes of over 75,000 feet. The recovery of the advanced MiG fighter is considered to be an intelligence coup by the U...S. Air Force. The Foxbat may also be equipped with advanced Russian- and French-made electronics that were sold to Iraq during the 1990s in violation of a U..N. ban on arms sales to Baghdad. The buried aircraft at Al Taqqadum were covered in camouflage netting, sealed and, in many cases, had their wings removed before being buried more than 10 feet beneath the Iraqi desert. X Marks the Spot The discovery of the buried Iraqi jet fighters illustrates the problem faced by U.S. inspection teams searching Iraq for weapons of mass destruction. Iraq is larger in size than California, and the massive deserts south and west of Baghdad were used by Saddam Hussein to hide weapons during the first Gulf war. U.S. intelligence sources have already uncovered several mass grave burial sites in the open deserts with an estimated 10,000 dead hidden there. In addition, Iraq previously hid SCUD missiles, chemical weapons and biological warheads by burying them under the desert sand. U.N. inspection teams found the weapons in the early 1990s after detailed information of the exact locations was obtained. Top U.S. weapons inspector Dr. David Kay is known to favor human intelligence as the primary means to find Iraq's hidden treasure trove of weapons and secrets. While there are rumors of Iraqi chemical and biological weapons being shipped to nearby Syria, the weapons may very well still remain inside Iraq buried under the vast desert wastelands. Some critics of the Bush administration have claimed that the inability of U.S. forces to uncover weapons of mass destruction is proof that the president misled the nation into the war with Iraq.

    XPs SP2

I downloaded the 270-mb admin version at home on my fiber optic connection in just over 7-min. The KB- filename conforms to update libraries in patch management programs that "push" patches to clients on a LAN environment.
  22. You have to appreciate those around you in this sport as they can be taken away so easily. I've never been to Byron yet, but I was an Antioch skydiver back in the seventies...great times. Thanks for the pix!
  23. I have already installed xp-sp2 on our domain's workstations. I had to disable the firewall with a policy setting so that our sys-admin remote tools will still work, and we haven't had any software conflict issues.
