Its all my dad can beat up your dad. I put 100 jumps on my new odyssey since aug. and I couldnt be happier. No way my main pin flap is coming open by accident. Riser covers are bad ass and the fit is much better than a G3 I tried on. I literally forget I am wearing a rig it's so comfy. Also a decked out G3 is much more than an equiped odyssey. My girlfriend has a wings (rental/lease) and Im not thrilled with it. Buy what you feel comfortable spending a big nut on. They are all quality. Johnny

Doesnt sound like a folding problem, more likely a bridal stowage or boc spandex problem. Doesnt matter how you fold the pc if you boc is flapping in the breeze you're dunski. Johnny

What your thinking of has been referred to a an anit-monkey fist. Its how I do it and you probably will need someone to show you. I lay the pc out flat mesh side up. I pull the bridal until the attachment point is even with the outside of the pc. Then I fold the pc in half, then bring the handle side over to where the bridal attachment point is. Then fold in half and fold up the excess bridal bla bla bla. I like it because if a horseshoe were to occur, you could pull on the bridal to get the pc out of the pouch and not have a monkeys fist because the attachment point is at the opening of the boc. Once you have that everything else is just fluff. Johnny

The comment on grabbing the toggles a little farther up is a great idea. I do that now on final aproach. I'm still in full flight, I can use front risers and grab the top of the toggles with 2 fingers before I flare. The first time I did it I popped up 3 feet off the ground from the extra flare power I got. Practice with the toggles in your hands on the ground first and then up top to make sure your comfortable with your flare. Also the video is a good idea too. With a sabre2 I would assume you should have plenty of flare power. Johnny

Anyone ever read that long defention of skydiving. I saw it at the school at The Ranch. It was set up like websters dictionary defenitions but the defenition had something to do with how we differ from normal people. It had an AWESOME look at skydiving talking about how it takes strength and incredible will to be one who becomes one with nature and all.... Wondering if anyone knows where that can be found?

2 canopies out for one. wraps and collisions also. I would rather think and act than just act. From what I understand you think of plenty of stuff during a 2 second mal/cutaway Johnny

I was messing around with my steering toggles this weekend and had a thought. I want to get to the very bottom of my flare but I dont want to shorten my toggles. When I take a conventional wrap I am pulling the tail down slightly with my hands all the way up. What I wanted to do was put my hand through the toggle and grab close to the attatchment point with my hand. That way I dont lose full flight but gain a couple inches on the flare. Is there a saftey issue with having my hand through the toggle slightly, like if I have to cut away or drop a toggle for whatever reason, wrap, collision ect. Johnny

WOW that was one of the nastiest landings I've ever seen. Slider all the way up when you hit the state troopers front lawn. One lucky jumper. Johnny

I thought the same thing when I was looking at my first main. Make sure it isnt the cross port. Each cell has a hole in the panel in the center of the cell to help with canopy inflation. Get it ckecked out just the same but for now but the razors and rope away! Johnny

I have a standard factory diver and have jumped in some cold stuff ( 40 below at altitude last year at freeze fest, cant wait for this year!) Keep the visor CLEAN! Dont use cleaners on it, just water and a soft cloth. Also Dont put the helmet on till the door opens and you know you will get out in 30 seconds or so. Unless your first and your sticking your head out the plane but come on, judgment people! J/K Also dont leave the helmet on your head. If the visor is hot and the air is cold its soda can time. I also have luck with picking up my face to expose the gap for the visor to the wind. Or you buy an oxgyn. Johnny

I would also point out that while eliminating the chances of a pilot chute in tow the chance for a horseshoe is still very much there. An unstable diployment is still just that...unstable. Horseshoe doesnt just mean risers adn PC in the pouch. I use BOC but have nothing against anyone who uses pull out. Both work but BOC works for me. Johnny

I dont do much Loging on the comuter but I use the fall rate graph a lot. Johnny

I thought Good Stuff was the best I had seen until I saw Crosswind. Doesnt make JJ any worse, He's still awesome but I had never seen anything like Crosswind. I was awestruck. I think anyone who can skydive by instinct and make great pictures is pretty damn cool Johnny

Im immune to the beer light but a buddy at the dz thought it would be funny to try to put the bonfire out with his body. Done after the halloween party dressed as tu-pac in black face and all. He wasnt that bad but when they brought him into the hall I saw his face all black and thought "oh shit he messed himself up good!" All this 4 days before he was to leave for the keys boogie! He's in the air again now, but very carefully. Johnny

Sounds good to me. Ill wait 100 jumps or so and make her sign'em all!! thanx Johnny

Ok Im a mega slacker when it comes to loging my jumps. Usually done once a month backtracking on my protrack. I dont have a sim in front of me (dont even know if this would be in there) who can sign your logbook, assuming you want your jumps (freefall and accuracy) to count towards a rating later on. I know they dont take it to seriously when it comes to licenses but I can see my self wanting a pro rating one day and dont want all my girlfriends A license signitures to be shitcanned. Johnny A-37382 By the way someone went into the pond today. Even though it was about 50 out I dont need my B license that bad yet. I'll wait it out till spring or florida.

I know right were to go but yer probably not in NY. I personally would try a machine shop or tool supply house. If they dont have what you need they could make one. By a long shot if you have access to a MSC catalog go with them. Look for them on the web if you want, Manhatten supply company. Good luck Johnny

I think I will stay home for my vacation save money and try to fly down for the tunnel and a day or 2 at a random florida dz on a no holiday weekend. Do some more research on car rentals. Winter jumping for me!! Are dz's open on christmas up here? Last year I was at Z hills and the extent of their holiday was opening an hour late. Johnny

I have a jetta that I drove down last year. I guess Im bummed over the $500 I'll lose if I make it one big vacation.

I was hoping to take a nice vacation this christmas. Maybe go to z-hills, sebastion, the wind tunnel, maybe do some snorkeling or whatnot, but the collective car rental places in florida have decided that being under 25, I am not fit to rent a car. I dont have the time to drive so Im pretty much f'd. (Insert mrs radloff reference here.) I dont like being dependant on others for rides and the like. Does anyone want to rent me a car? Im a really good driver. Also get my work situation. Days off...22 23 24 25...29 30 31 1 . Thats right the 26 27 28 I have to go back. My boss said I probably could get away with ditching those 3 days but I wont get paid for anything except christmas. What would you do? Save the money and try to get some jumps in here or blow it all and drive down? Johnny

We had a nasty wind season at the ranch this year. As pointed out our DZ is narrow and if the wind is coming across the NE or SW i will almost always go to the big square anti-turbulent field next door. I will jump in fairly strong winds as long as they are not bumpy. Bumpy winds have caused me to lose my flare and i dont like that very much. I make decisions based on what canopies do in the air. When its bumpy i play ping pong and walk out to the landing area every 20 minutes and watch the tandem show. Johnny
