Why is it he has an attitude? And where is the ignorance? Does it sound like he hasnt put any thought into his statement. Ignorant would be those who want slavery reparations and who are still looking for their "40 acres and a mule." If it were a "person of color" making a statement about their views and perhaps their pride in their heritage im sure they would be applauded. I am not a fan of all Nugents views, but I find nothing ignorant about his statement. I think the most unamerican thing out there is telling someone what to think, what is "pc", what is acceptable. If you think I'm paranoid read 1984. Now somebody please yank this soapbox away from me so I can return to thinking about jumping my new canopy as soon as it gets here dammit. Johnny

Now that I have somewhat crossed over to the so called "dark side" ---whooooooooo....heeeeeeeeee... I need to get something to slow my ass down in a sit. Does anyone use an alternative to freefly pants that cost over $100 like pants made out of some sort of canvas or something. Im sure Ill have to go for the gusto just like everything else but i figured id check it out anyway. I use a jersey and it seems to grab a decent amout of air. My RW suit is starting to gather dust, uhh ohh. Johnny

I was under the impression that semi elliptical or full eliptical arent rectangles per say so a normal method of measuring would be slightly inaccurate. Does that sound feasable or more like something I just made up. hint...its the second one! Johnny

Thanks everyone, Im probably gonna go with the 209 first. If its to slow' (I doubt it but) i can always try the 189. Im a bit over 200 w/o gear so an "approximate 200" from a 209 should suit me fine. Besides Icarus said they dont have one for me yet. Not easy suckers to get a hold of that big. Johnny

You could try my girlfriends method of approach... Go down the parkway at 60 in a blizzard in your 68 nova with suicide drum brakes and do a header into the divider, but I guess yours works too. maybe I should carry a blonde wig and to mellons in my car from now on, couldnt hurt to try!! johnny

I resent that!! My girlfriend has a 68 nova with over 300,000 miles on the original powertrain. You couldn't kill it if you tried. I think the car we are refering to is the ford, I repeat...ford pinto In my opinion the car we liken this problem to is far more important than any supposed canopies that may or may not have a design problem... j/k but its still important. johnny

I was speaking with an Icarus rep about demoing a safire the other day. She told me that Icarus measures their canopies with a different method than other manufacturers so a 209 in an Icarus canopy would be closer to a 190 than a 210 in a comparable canopy say from PD. Has anyone flown canopies of similar sizes (on paper) from Icarus and PD like a safire 169 and a Sabre2 170 or a spectre and omega? Im curently on a PD210 and I dont want to get a safire 189 and have it be more like a PD 170. Im hopefully going to get a hold of a 209 but I'd like to hear anyones thoughts on their differences in the mean time. Johnny

This is definetly some stunt from a canopy manufacturer {cough cough P.A. cough} I dont think PD would pull such a stunt. I have heard only good things about Icarus and am trying to get my hands on a Safire to test fly one before I buy. PS he doesnt even know where he's from in florida. hmmm

I was landing on the final jump of the day on sunday when at 40 feet or so some one swooped past me on my left causing me to tweek it to the right. No biggie but now im headed in between 2 jumpers picking up their gear in the peas. I yelled heads up and flared my hardest and did my best to pull my feet up over a students chute laying at the edge of the peas. I caught the last foot of it, slid off the chute onto my ass. The owner of the school walked out and told me to look out for studets and other jumpers when I plan to land. Didnt feel like making a big deal out of it cause it really wasnt. Im always watching out for the brainless wonders. And by the way did my FIRST jump w/ my girlfriend now that shes off student status and the very first thing we worked on is her track. I wish everyone did.

Thanks for all the responses. Since Im looking for an intermediate canopy I was going to try to go the used route. Im glad to hear that there are people out there that use this canopy and like it also. All I know is im getting tired of landing an all F111 canopy in no winds and not slowing down at all!

Yes i have looked in the gear reviews and read what was there. I wanted to know if anyone flies one around my wingloading. Im 215 or 220 ( depending on lunch) out the door and am currently flying a pd210 9 cell. I was thinking about a silhouette 210. I flew a 230 a few times and it landed me better than my 210 now. They dont seem to be that popular. I tried my buddies spectre 210 and it seemed a bit more touchy than im looking for. Let me know if anyone actually flies one out there. I have 91 jumps by the way so im not looking for anything crazy. Johnny

I bought an Odyssey for my first rig and its the poo!! I bought a j4 cause Im in the 2 hundred club and i never felt a bigger rig that was this comfortable. Tried my friends mirage the other day and it was ok but no where near mine. get hip and chest rings and dont let anyone tell you they are useless. Hip for flexibility and chest for harness geometry. A+

I am jumping a pd210 and Im getting slammed a lot too. Its some sort of west nile canopy slamming virus going around. Im rolling the left and right 4 cells 4 times and it still seems unusually hard. I jumped a spectre 210 of a friend of mine to compare and it opened super soft (took 1000' though) Ive been told that openings on relativly low # jumps on f111 canopies are "snappy" By the way how are your landings? Not slowing you down much after you level off? Johnny

Hey chunk Im a ranch hand and was there yesterday at the time of the unfortunate accident. I am glad you made the comment about the skill of all the canopy pilots and the special attention paid to all safety matters. No one appeared to be a hot dog or loose cannan. Unfortunatly this is not the first time rotors on that end of the field had caused problems for canopies. I felt especially bad that this poor girl was doing nothing wrong and there is really nothing that can be said to the contrary. I felt we handled it the best we could. This was my first witness to an incedent and im sure it wont be the last but even the expierenced jumpers said it always hits you just as hard. I am very proud of dawn, guy and the rest of the staff that worked thier hardest to help lisa. Before this happened the weekend seemed to be the best in a while. Nothing more can be said its just a tragedy. My condolences to all family and friends of Lisa. Johnny

I bought an odyssey for my first rig and I have 1 week to go until delivery time. You'll have plenty of time to move down in size cause the delivery time is up to 12 weeks. I think its worth it.

I think it is definetly worth it but it is a bit pricey. I would definetly want to split it with you if that is really how it works! I did 2 down there on the 10th
