Crossfire 2 Bad Openings,,, Slider Stop Unstitched???
aykay replied to pjc's topic in Gear and Rigging
That happened on mine as well. Came close to chopping twice as the canopy was spinning up pretty good. Fixed it and now its sweet. Mine broke on the right rear line group. Which was it on yours. Im just wondering if there is a bias towards the front or rear. -
I am going to a camp headed up by Ian Bobo in Sydney next month. I have done a couple of canopy seminars with local tutors but really want to get as much information and knowledge out of this as possible. Can anyone think of any good questions to ask or should I just sit back and take in as much info as possible?

Also, when flying your pattern do people prefer to keep all their legs the same distance? If winds change does the pattern stay the same or just move in relation to the final turn point. Come on people... inform me :)
-
Yup. Thanks

Did a search and didn't find this question answered... A lot of people suggest getting your pattern dialled in to make it easier to perfect your swoop. At the moment i'm just eyeballing it mainly and if I feel I am going to be a bit short I sit up on brakes on my down wind or cut a corner on the cross wind leg. How do other people practice this to get to the point of initiation at the right altitude every time? Do you use certain landmarks near the LZ? I know the basics of how to alter a pattern but was just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks to become more consistant.

Pretty sure its on PD's website.

DIPSY!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesnt the AN2 manual state that if pull the stick all the way back it will just sink at a comparable rate to a parachute anyway?
-
I couldnt see anything going differently until the canopy coming out of the bag and wanting to fly forward and out of the air flow. AFAIK you pick up a little bit of airspeed as you get stood up so the operator might have to crank on the speed a little at that stage of the opening. Good luck to the person who tries tho.
-
Thanks for posting that. Will the footage be released at any stage?
-
Is there any other information out there on this? I thought that in general it was better to have a larger wing if you can keep your WL.
-
When is the 2 way event due to be run?
-
Thanks bro. Just having a discussion with a mate.
-
Yeah seen that. So technically you could get a crossbrace in whatever size you like. I know that Icarus will make a canopy up to whatever size you want really.... Hold that. Just read their site. "As with all our canopies, the VX is available in any size you choose." etc etc. hehe thanks tho.
-
Did a search couldnt find anything. Does anyone know what the largest x brace is?

Theres already a thread in gear and rigging about this. You should be able to click on the link from SM.com to the DZ.com discussion. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3495

I always wondered about the Para Dactyl, which was funky enough as a main, but which was used for a while as a reserve. The smallest, lightest assembly ever was the Para Dactyl main and reserve, called "Double-Dactyl Death". I'd be interested to know the TSO status of that thing. Kevin AFAIK the russian CRW guys are still jumping them! Or a copy -
Tropfest is in Queensland I think... NSW- sydneyskydivers.com.au VIC- skydivenagambie.com.au

Yeah. If you wanna hang out with a bunch of tossers driving 4 wheel drives who are more concerned about their hair and how shiny their cars are then go to sydney. They are also more likely to be bombed. During summer its plenty warm in Melb. Not saying that u r any of those things khe

...and when you deploy you actually do go up

Funniest / most embarrassing first jump reaction

On the way to height I was sitting at the back of the XL facing forward so I could see everyone face to face. Now every now and then some one lets on rip in the plane. Fair enough. Except this time the smell lingered for a little bit too long. Looking forward to the tandem master sitting up on the step making crazy eyes at his passenger who had dropped his entire load on the way to height. Now thats ALL bad... -
Hey, at nags we jump the PAC 750 XL. Were just coming out of winter now so the DZ should be getting busier. Nagambie is pretty much the only DZ in Victoria atm that has a turbine but there should be a caravan coming shortly as well. There is a calender of events for nags athttp://www.skydivenagambie.com/sport_skydivers/events.php or try http://www.relworkers.org/.
