I will work as usual for the entire year of 2006. Then since my wife completed her MBA at the U Of T 2 years ago we have now saved enough $$$ for me to finish my education. This will allow me to jump 300% more, retire and laugh at life for a while instead of being so freaking serious all the time. I will continue 1/4 Mile racing with my drag cars as well. (Hope i don't die) And of course we have Talledega, Alabama, Texas Motor Sppedway twice a year and Daytona slated for our NasCar activities. I find it interesting that i was jumping at that DZ long before you even showed up there, in fact you dissapeared for i don't know how long, went to the Army and told me you were going to join the Golden Knights. One of the golden rules of skydiving, "Always have a backup plan" This is generally discussed in the dirt dive. This works as well. I never said there isn't but one way to do it, did i? You count bodies if you want to, it's instinctual for me. That said, i will never become complacent. After 210 jumps, you may want to consider quitting if your still going low. Well, that's what it is. I merely relayed to the poster what i'd personally do. I was taught by some of the best formation skydivers in our state, and i was always told that going low would not be tolerated, (i mentioned nothing about getting into your slot) everyone WILL know where everyone else is at breakoff altitude. That said, "IF" i went low in this situation i'd do as i said i would. Not everyone has the same contingency plan as i do. The poster asked a question and i answered it. Damn flamers. This statement is speculative at the least. I saw her television interview, i heard her story as she told it, i have not hear her deviate from the first story. So do i. I had life insurance for 20+ years. Then came 09/11. I was working overseas at the time. Things changed for me dramatically after that. My insurer dropped me like an anvil in the atlantic. Their reason being they would not cover anyone's death associated with transatlantic travel because of the heightned terroists threats. Would it have been my fault if my plane would have been bombed and i died? Then my personal insurance carrier Prudential was advised that i took up skyving, they dropped my personal injury policy. They also advised me that if i was killed in a skydiving incident they would consider it suicide. Do i think this is BS, well YEAH! I have approached several other insurance carriers, given my occupation, i am a Drilling Operations Manager, i drill oil and gas wells for a living in a very hazourdous environment, i can be killed anytime essentially becaus of the presence of hydrocarbons and natural gas and the explosion(s) it may and could cause, i have not found one insurance carrier to take my account. AND my wife works at an insurance agency. So before we all get to criticizing others for not being covered, consider the circumstances. Ron, this is an utterly rediculous statement on your behalf. (IMO) I can't count the times when skydivers have met their doom enjoying our sport and the families have come and asked for donations. This is not out of the ordinary. It is a voluntary thing, if you can, and want to help fine. If not, that's fine as well. So bashing and making comments such as yours are really for naught. There are several skydivers on this sight that i have helped financially when they asked, i was glad to do it. If i were not in the position to help, i wouldn't have. The whole idea is to never put yourself in this position to begin with. Know your equipment, know your altitude. Establish a hard deck and NEVER deviate from it. (Mine is 1,800 AGL) In the event of a mal you need to jetison your main, try once, try twice if you are not succesful cut away and deploy your reserve. Don't try to follow your free bag and main down, land safely on the DZ and gather your equipment up later.
