Sage green one piece suit with a bunch of zippers that's guaranteed to probably not burn, maybe, black boots, all cotton white socks. No bra. No thong. flyhi

You think that turn about half way down the swoop pond is gonna be tough for anyone? flyhi

My computer illiterate boss is gone next week and I have his password. Oh yes, there shall be a new icon on his desktop when he returns. I owe you one. Or else, I may ask you to help shop my resume around. Either way, it's all good.

Cool, huh? That, my friend, is skydiving's answer to heroin. Eventually you will crave it. But not yet. Way too early. Monkey Chuck had a good post on here a while ago in which he said he never tried to run out a landing. Always slid it out. And if you don't have the skills to time the turn, the bump, the flare, gauge the speed and put down a toe to start the slide, you probably shouldn't be doing them yet. It's probably more of an art than a science, too. Got to feel each one. They're all different. Work on the front risers and progress from there. Never been to one, but wish I had attended a canopy control school. Learning on your own is very expensive, in many ways. flyhi

That'll look nice in front of *$ every Sunday morning. That is where they all meet, isn't it? flyhi

Excellent ink. Love the sunset. BTW, I'm glad I know you're a female. Would never open an attachment from a guy that says: Ba bye. flyhi

Actually, two brew pubs use to be open up downtown within walking, and eventually crawling, distance of each other. One was about two blocks (east, I think) from the Delta Center (possible name is something like Red Sand Brew Pub, or maybe not) and the other is a block away. The second one, had live music and pretty good food. The first, I thought, had better beer. That whole area had clubs with music or musicians in the general area. All things considered, not too bad. flyhi

Correct me if I'm wrong (like you have to say that on this site!) but wouldn't that actually be a delta instead of a track? I'm sure the locally available skydiving-Talmudists will confirm or deny this. Just wondered. flyhi

Anybody have any good skydiving icons, or even any good icons? flyhi

Sounds like someone found skydiving just in time. flyhi

I was thinking about this the other day while I was lubing the wheels under the house, the KKK and people of their ilk really give the rest of us poor southern white trash a bad name. And I really don't think it's fair. There is Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, Women in History Month, but no Po White Trash Month. When do we get our recognition? We've got a sport (fishin'), a haircut (the mullet), and a nationally recognized cuisine (baloney on white bread with canned beer). Now we need to have it officially commemorated. You would think someone like Jesse Helms or Robert Byrd could push that through Congress. It's a matter of time till we get that approved. And that, finally, would separate the good trash from the bad trash! Gotta go. Nascar reruns are on and I got a bet on the winner. flyhi

Hehehehe...Stilletto got me...[smile]
flyhi replied to freeflir29's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I transitioned from a stiletto to a vengeance recently. Noticed that on a front riser turn, I generated more speed on the vengeance and needed to hold it longer (read lower) before I bumped it to plane out. Once it planed out, by getting forward in the harness (cg forward of center of lift, I think) I could work the final flair longer to get a better swoop than off the stiletto under the same conditions. The vengeance is very wind dependent. A landing at 10 mph is a lot different than one during no-wind conditions. Knowing how to handle the difference comes with experience. After a day at 10 mph I tried to flair the same on a no-wind day and did, indeed, experience a gain of altitude. Not sure how often you would want to do that, but if you need it, it's there. If you don't want it, it's up to you to ease in the flair to avoid it. At least, that's the way it worked for me. And I never saw it as a problem. -
Was at an air show once (Possibly Tuscaloosa, AL, can't remember. Massive beer front moved through.) where they asked us to shut down our turbine engines because the old timers came to hear the radial engines. flyhi

Beer. First time I've ever seen that used as a verb. flyhi

When I was divorced, I went out and paid top dollar for an E-Z Bake Oven at a garage sale. New light bulb and I'm like Emeril Frickin Lagasse. Baked my helmet and made two cupcakes at the same time. Nothing to it. flyhi
