One of my skydiving friends has a pet Capucian monkey. It's pretty well trained, but it seems like it's almost as much responsibility as raising a human child. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I recently got a Vortex II as my primary rig. You can get a rig with all of the options for less than the base price of many of the other manufacturers. We're starting to see more and more vortexes around my DZ. They're very freefly friendly rigs & the pin protection is as good as any others. I've heard some people complain about the amount of exposed riser, but in 350ish jumps I haven't had any issues. The sizing is a bit different as the rigs are made to fit Parachute Systems canopies which seem to pack a little smaller than other makes of the same size (i.e. If you order a rig that fits a Hurricane 150 then your Sabre 150 might be a bit tight.) My personal fave's are the newer Vortex II risers. They make it pretty much impossible to fire a toggle on opening & they have very nice double layer dive loops that are always easy to grab. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I'll also be there shooting video this year. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Longline towers are also my favorite. They were designed to withstand a nuclear blast within 3 miles, so it goes without saying that they are very sturdy and will be there for a long time. There are some longline towers in my area that surround an underground government communications facility that is still in use. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Thanks Guido! Marion might be going to the game, but she's taking the LSAT on saturday morning, so she may miss the kickoff. At any rate, have fun & be safe! Stadium jumps rock! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^ Darnit, I'm always the last person to get my parachutist in the mail... Mine will probably get here next week sometime. I did get a little present in the mail today though! My BASE number showed up... [drumroll]... and the winner is... NOBODY. Dawn was the closest, so as a consolation prize she wins an extra taco! I am in the book as BASE 1127 Much thanks to those who have helped me along the way! P.S. Is anyone doing anything for haloween? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

The JVX is a nice middleground between the VX and Velo. It opens on heading like the VX & with just a little less snivel than the velo. The riser pressure is about the same as the velo & it's good at getting back from long spots. If you're on a budget a VX with the JVX lineset is the way to go. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Wow! Congratulations Harry! You and the missus must be so excited. Bring lil' Zach out to the DZ after he's had a chance to settle in at home! Brian, Congrats on winning gold! It's hard to believe that just 3 years ago we were getting our A licenses. I just looked at omniskore & you guys were SMOKING every round. Way to go man! Everybody, I'm finally back in town! The trip was great but it's really good to be back home. I hope to see you all at the DZ if not sooner. I've got lots of pictures and video if anyone is patient enough to sit through all of the stories. Seeya! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I'm having trouble finding it on the USPA website :( The points were pretty straightforeward. The exits were a HD star, sit train, and maybe a horny gorilla. The blocks were all head up stuff such as: -hand to hand dock, 360, hand to hand dock -toe to toe dock, cartwheel, toe to toe dock -hand to foot dock, 360, hand to food dock -toe to toe, knee to knee, toe to toe If you can do combinations of those sorts of docks and transitions you'll be able to handle everything in the dive pool without any problems. The rules just say that a dock must be "controlled" but the judges don't tell you how long you have to hold a dock in order for it to count. They may change things around a little bit because the level of competition last year was much higher than in previous years & the top few teams really smoked a few rounds. I'm feeling loopy from the mishmash of drug vapors floating around the halls of the Holiday Inn. The CSS contingent showed up late last night & we hung out for an hour or so. The buzz has started and the weather for tomorrow looks excellent! I hope everyone back at CSS has a great weekend. Be safe & I'll see you all very soon! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I think I remember someone saying that it closes to traffic at 7. I'm not 100% positive about that though. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^ I concur! The tree that caught a couple of jumpers last year is underwater about 15 feet from the shore line. Hopefully they'll turn the damn water down before saturday! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Hehe... it's red man! Respect the Pro-Tec! If only I had some dreads that I could stick out of all of the little holes I'm in the Windy City today & I'm leaving for NRGB in the morning. I hope everyone is having a great time back home. I'll be back before you know it. Seeya! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

The plate on my '88 MR2 SC reads IT'SMR2U! The pic below is old & I'm sure that some of you have already seen it, but for those that haven't... the infamous A55 RGY Florida plate. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I forgot to mention in the above post that I do have a MULTI and that the effect seems a little more pronounced when using the multi vs. using the conventional single attachment point, however I don't have enough jumps with various PC/Bridle combinations to make a very sound conclusion about the effect of the multi on the stall point. It's also worth mentioning that the effect of PC size on the stall point is probably going to be much more pronounced on my 220 trailing a 48'' than on larger canopies. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
-
I fly a Flik 220 with the 5th line & I found myself stalling the canopy out on landing. After spending a week at the Perrine doing all sorts of jumps I realized that the size of my PC makes a HUGE difference in the stall point of the canopy. At home I had been using a 48'' and found the stall point to be about at my nipples. With a 42'' it was close to my belly button, and with no PC (unpacked jumps) I had to pull the the toggles almost to my knees. I hadn't previously noticed a big differnce in the flare of my Fox with the standard 4 control lines & I doubt that the effect of the pilot chute size is as pronounced on larger canopies. Thoughts?? It's late & cold here in Ottawa. I'm having trouble sleeping, so I figured I'd check on the thread. Skydive Chicago is FRIKIN HUGE! I had a pretty interesting evening @ Rook's place tonight. The locals here are very cool & young compared to most DZ's. I spent last night sleeping in the Jeep in the parking lot at the Lincoln Sport Parachute Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. I got up in the morning and made an $8 hop & pop and then spent the rest of the day driving towards SDC. Back in TF I talked to some punk-ass jumpers from Lodi who said that Jimmy Halliday and his crew will be doing the Bridge Day DVD I'll be in WV sometime tuesday & I hope to see some of you there later in the week! Seeya! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I stopped @ LSPC because it's pretty much the midpoint on the drive from Twin Falls to Bridge Day. All of the locals were very friendly & the facilities were quite nice. The Cessna is quick and jumps are super cheap! I'll be back the next time that I'm passing through NE.

I'm only coming if you'll jump with your dreads sticking out through the holes in your ProTec again Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^Didn't see that one coming Mike... I use em. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Sorry Jeb, I'll be passing through Charleston tuesday evening. If anyone else needs a ride PM me. I probably only have room for one, maaaaaybe 2. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Woohoo! Thursday is my birthday! Make sure that you're there in time for the Film Festival! I'm leaving Twin Falls in the morning for either Moab (again) or Skydive Chicago. I hope that you guys have some good weather this weekend at home! Seeya! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
