I hereby officially deem this weekend the "Lyman is Gone Boogie!" To hell with labor day! BTW folks, check out the travel section of the N&O today. There's a story about a place in Charlotte that's opening up soon called the US National Whitewater Center. It's basically a wind tunnel for rafting and kayaking. We should try to get a trip together some weekend... maybe go rafting one day and visit Chester the other? Check out the video: [url"http://www.vimeo.com/clip:89292/context/tag:nc"]Clicky![/url] Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I just thought that some of you tunnel rats might be interested to know that the US's first recirculating artificial whitewater river just opened in Charlotte NC. This is basically going to do for whitewater sports what VWT's are doing for skydiving. It's pretty much the same concept. You pump large amounts of water uphill and have a system of artificial channels that it can be diverted down. The channels have various obsticles that can be rearranged to simulate whatever discipline of whitewater suits you best. Check it out! CLICKY Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^I'd assume that a knot would be too big of an inconvenience. If one is planning a jump that requires a metal-less rig, then the quicker that the rig can be removed and stashed, the better. We've all clumisly fumbled to get our chest straps undone and get our rigs into stashbags after the adrenaline jolt of a high-key jump... imagine trying to undo a figure eight knot Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Why do you want to make a rig with a fixed chest strap and leg straps? Are you trying to make it metal-less? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

My speed Cypres2 should be here any day now Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

(M.O.A.B) Mother Of All Boogies Sept 28 - Oct 1

I'm really looking foreward to this event and I'm trying to get some more east-coast jumpers out there. I'll be driving from Raleigh NC to MOAB Sept 25-27. If anybody along that route needs a ride and wants to split the gas $$ shoot me a PM. I'll be spending 2-3 weeks in Moab & TF and coming back east in time to make BD on the 21st. I hope you all have fun at the scrambles meet! I'll be at the swoop boogie @ The Farm in Atlanta Tomorrow (friday) there are like 17 tandems and saturday is looking fairly busy as well. Seeya! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Geeze Joe. I thought you were all computer savvy & stuff? CLICKY Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

On a windy day a wise jumper once told me, "If the windsock has a hard-on, somebody's getting F*ed!" Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I'll be there! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^That guy really pulled the base jump out of his ass. Did you see him flail for the toggles? You could see it in his face when he landed... the look of "I really shouldn't have gotten away with that one..." Scary man... scary! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age. -
Nice shots! That pond looks so nice! Here's a picture of me under my JVX80 taken by Peter Biro at Raeford a couple of weeks ago. I hope to see you all at the Swoop Boogie @ Skydive The Farm in 2 weeks. Seeya! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

The easiest way to do a 2way hybrid is to hang from the belly flier's weight belt. That way you aren't affecting the pitch of the flatflyer. You're basically adding a bunch of weight to their weight belt without upsetting their balance. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

It looks like they used an airboat for the fan. I have always wondered what would happen if you were to go to one of the powerful outdoor tunnels (think the L1) with a slider up rig... Anybody tried it? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Woohoo! Another JiveJam! Don't forget to mention the Team Wicked Liquid Swoop Boogie at Skydive The Farm on the previous weekend, August 19-20! Check the Swooping and Canopy Control forum or www.teamwickedliquid.com for details. Seeya, Eric Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I just graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this past May. We have a Skydiving Club recognized through the school as a "Student Organization." Basically that means that we can use the school's facilities for meetings and whatnot, but we can recieve no funding. In order to be registered as a sports club (that recieves funding) the school would have to have a "catastrophic accident insurance policy" which would be next to impossible to find. Is your skydiving class a theory course, or does it involve actual training? Does the school own an airplane or just send you to the nearest DZ? What is the cost to students? BTW Nick, the Collegiate National Championships are still held every year between Christmas and New Years. This coming year they will be held at Lake Wales. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Lost my Neptune, found my Neptune
eUrNiCc replied to cpoxon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I once did a 2 way with a friend, following a 6 way out of the otter. The jump went fine; I opened at 3000 and flew my normal pattern. During my downwind leg at about 900ft I saw a purple blur whiz past my left side and instantly identified it as the helmet belonging to a girl on the 6way that exited before me. I watched it all the way to the ground. I landed next to the helmetless girl who said that she had just bought a new helmet and pro-track and didn't have it adjusted very well yet. At 6000ft it came off and she figured that she'd never see it again. I walked her over to the other end of the landing area where I had seen it frap in. She picked it up and was amazed that it had sustained no damage whatsoever, not even a scratch. The protrack inside had recorded the jump, but not the opening altitude. I've also heard of some camera helmets going in and sustaining little damage. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age. -
I will be there with my 4way team on friday to get a few jumps in before the meet. I'm sure that there will be enough teams there on friday to fly a few loads in the pac or otter. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I have a fair number of jumps on my 10-22 and it is noticeably heavier and bulkier than the stock 18-55. I would recomend building some kind of cradle so that the opening G's are not all going right to the bayonette mount. I often use the lens @10mm for tandems and Freeflying, & about 14mm seems to work well for conventional RW. YMMV Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

Does anyone have any info about jumping at Burning Man this year? Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

I'll be at M.O.A.B. filming tandems, but I plan on arrivinga few days early to make some fun jumps/flicks. I'll bring a suit. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
-
I'll be there with my JVX80 and an extra camera or two. If you've been looking for an excuse to take a weekend away from your home DZ and go kick back & swoop a massive pond all weekend then The Farm is the place to be! Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
-
Happy Birthday Karen!!! Why don't you take the day off tomorrow and come celebrate at CSS. We have about 13 students tomorrow starting at 9am, so there should be at least 4 or 5 loads. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.

^Affirmative. The Bulls game is at 7 on friday! I think Greg left some tickets at manifest. Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
