  1. Do you have to purchase that? U have adobe deluxe that I scanned pictures in with, but even if I try to reduce them there, that damned viewer steps in, opens them, and won't let go! I have been told to uninstall it, but am afraid I will not be able to view my photos then. I don't recall where that program came from! I think I used it for the 30 days, but then didn't register. It has been holding all of my photos hostage ever since. So tell us again how you reduce a photo and save it as a jpg. Yes I know some of you are getting flaskbacks to a previous post, me too!
  2. For all you carnivores out there I have a question. I like to eat meat, but only if it's almost raw! Just how safe is eating most every meat raw or close to eaw? How do they get away with giving you a still cold filet mignon in a restaurant? Is it safe to cook it that way at home? How many people actually get parasites and or tape worms/trichinosis (from pork)? What about that ageing process they do to beef? They age it for long periods of time then serve it rare! How mong can meat stay in your refrigerator and still be safe to eat very rare?
  3. What happened to you? What was the outcome and your present limitation? You can PM that if it's too personal for some of the critics and cynics on this forum. I hurt my neck with hernations and bone spurs after years of parachute openings wearing too much lead in a funny place on the back of my container which also dug into my spine crushing the spinus process after a while, had surgery which just made matters worse, and now live on pain pills. I know how you feel. I often wish I had gone in with my Sweetie's plane in Hawaii. It's hard to be in pain 'cause every day is a struggle, and even though you continue to have problems as if it were the first day for you, after a while people, including medics, family, and friends, the people you would expect to care the most, just write you off as "Chronic". They lose interest in your problem when you need them the most. It reminds me of running the 2 mile during a track meet. While they cheer at first, after a while, their attention turns toward the other more exciting, immedient events going on like the hurdles, the shot put, the sprints, etc... By about the 4th lap out of 6 or 8, they have all but forgotten about you just as you are having the hardest time and need the most encouragement. I hate that word "chronic" 'cause it just means everyone else has given up on you. But still in the back of my mind I have this idea, or maybe it's just an ideal, that some day, somehow, the pain will subside, the cloud will lift, and everything will be just as it was before when things all went my way and everything I touched turned to gold. This notion is hard to hold onto, but the simple fact that you haven't done yourself in yet means that you still hold onto that ideal as well, even though in the front of your mind you may have your doubts. Remember that song, "Just hold on for one more day!" That friends thing is tough too, 'cause it seems so many begin to write you off as well when things don't get better faster- perhaps that's a consequence of the "immediate gratification" World we live in. Feel free to PM me any time. I am in a similar boat and probably know and can empathize better than just about anyone out there. Good Luck! Hang in there, Dude!
  4. I have lots of cool photos flying our DC-3 & C-46 over Alaskan glaciers and the beach, but they are all too big. Boo Hoo! I will try to figure out how to reduce them again without my viewer getting in the way, which I haven't paid the 30 dollars for, but it seems to hikack all my photos. Will have to post them if and when I fugure out how to get them down to 60KB.
  5. Just so this doesn't get lost today, I will add something to move it up the list. Still looking for Peter "Pete" Martin. About 5'8, solid build, ARMY looking, glasses, should be about 40. Originally from Greensboro, NC. Screaming Eagles ARMY parachute team in Kentucky, Started jumping in Hollister in about 90 while in ARMY in Hawaii. Jumped out at Dillingham in Hawaii for years. Is quiet, very honorable, polite, loves animals, nice guy.
  6. Sarah McGlauflin or Lorenna MacKennin Celtic stuff!
  7. I eat creatures from the Ocean, raw!
  8. Oh yes, I know everything there is to know about germs, and indeed they do discriminate! Those who infect the people I am fond of have a warm purple hue, and all the rest emit a brilliant cautionary orange glow!
  9. Does anyone know where I could find Peter Martin, originally of Greensboro, North Carolina. He spent time in Ranger school in Louisiana, then many years at Schoffield Barracks on Oahu, Hawaii. He skydived for years out at Dillingham in Hawaii. After that he joined up with the ARMY parachute team, the Screaming Eagles, 101st (I think) airborne in Kentucky. I lost track of him and would like to contact him. He may be somewhere in North Carolina since his family is all from around that area. Annie
  10. What in the World are you doing in the Carolinas? Why did you leave Hawaii? Hard to live anywhere else isn't it?! Say, do you know a guy name Pete Martin who used to be in the mlilitary at Schoffield barracks in Hawaii but is native to Greensboro, NC? He spent some time doing the Screaming Eagles ARMY skydiving team in Kentucky? Don't know if he is still in the military-can't locate him! Must still be skydiving somewhere in your area. Yeah, I put Shawny's picture on that website www. robharris.org "eternal flame" page. I made Shawny a nifty web site, but had trouble FTPing it! His brother Kurt died the next year when his Cessna on skis fell through a snow drift into a glacial crevasse while trying to rescue some lost climbers off a mountain in Alaska. Both Shawny and Kurt were well respected as the best bush pilots Alaska ever knew, Shawn with his big planes, his C-46, and DC-3, and Kurt with his radical small planes! Aloha my friend!
  11. I hate to dredge up old news, but I do take offense to you guys specifying someone in particular who is in "this instance" being an asshat or whatever or worse for choosing to proudly display some other D # simply out of a choice of being a representative of someone very near and dear to me who wants to be connected to me whenever I present myself- which I do out of the utmost respect and admiration for my fellow jumper buddy, Bob Sinclaire. You guys obviously don't know the history so allow me to enlighten you before you pass judgement! You see Bob Sinclaire, who was originally assigned D-272 does not like that # because he pre-dates everyone, even Lou Sanborne. It just happens that Bob was in Alaska when they instituted lisences. He should have had one of the first #s, but they saved a bunch for their buddies and a big chunk for the military. By the time he came back to the states they were already in the 200s. They gave him 272, but he always resented their nepotism, which is quite different from forum rule #2, nechrophelism. So when he met me and loved me for me, see "Who loves Tinkerbelle" thread... he wanted me to carry on his number as his emisary, which I do proudly. Sure I have my own D # which I finally gave in and got after 1000 jumps ' in order to compete. Before that and outside of that at the time no one much cared if anyone had a lisence or not. You guys make way too big a deal about all of this! I even sign my name with horns and a forked tail, which does not in any way invalidate my signature. So there! And if you have a problem with any of this, as Bob put it in his permission note which was signed my many at the time and even noterized, "If anyone has a problem with this... tough shit!"
  12. I only don't like germs of people I don't like or don't know especially nasty girls! If Bobsled had a cold sore I would put ketsup on it and lap it right up!
  13. Can I have 4 me... C-4? or B-4? or R-2 D-2? or C-3 P-0? or C-1,2 ? or B -1,2? Why, you can B anything U want 2 B, Q T 3.14!
  14. I used to live and jump in Hawaii 'till fiancee Shawn Gloyer went in with th King Air in May of '99. I miss it too. Just couldn't stay 'cause kept expecting him to walk through the door. Just left for a couple days, but didn't go back. Wish I had now. Hawaii is great for birdman, just ask Patrique, well, if he were with us he'd say hooray! He used to get out over the DZ, track upwind all the way to Haleiwa, over several miles away, then turn around and come back again! The trades haul ass, usually between 10-20 on a light day, but often 'tween 20-40, but jumping rarely stops 'cause of the wind! It's a jump at your own risk thing. I often just sat out to watch the cool crashes. One Japanese girl was so cute- she was backing up... backing up... we were all yelling at her to turn or do something... but she just hit the top of a tree right next to the Aloha "Up jumper" club house. The tree stopped her and she proceded to fall through the tree taking off every branch on her way down. We all stood there in horror awaiting the final thump. But wouldn't ya know, by the time she got to the bottom she landed on a whole pile of soft branches she had taken out like a big feather pillow. She barely missed being impaled on a fense post and hitting a huge rock! Instead she just bounced up off the branches, dusted herself off, and giggled, as the Japanese girls are so famous for! We were all understandably shocked! Later that day everyone had to take video of themselves getting up off the stack of branches all frazzled with gear everywhere saying, "TA DA!" We had so much fun with pig roasts and everything. That place was truly a paradise except for the wind! It will always be my home! I miss the plumeria the most and the tube roses that smelled so sweet & pretty. The most remarkable thing about Hawaii is the sweet perfumed aroma of flowers that permeates the air. Most all the trees and bushes are full of flowers. I used to go to the ladies at the lei stands by the airport to get fresh leis for myself, the car, for friends, and to give to the local homeless on the North Shore to be sure my car and person was kept safe. I also gave the local homeless cigarettes and beer. That way before they considered vandalizing your car as is the tendancy for locals to do to outsiders, especially Howlies (whites who stole their Island from them), they recognize you as a good guy, one of their friends. I was buddies with the Houi, something that is important and can be a life saver on the North Shore! Everything is so pretty visitors love to go to isolated beaches for a swim. That is very dangerous. In fact there are even well populated places that are not safe. Visitors should always ask locals and heed warnings about where it is and is not safe to go. Never leave your car unattended with anything in it even in the trunk. Locals all have metal clubs which they use to break windows and steal stuff and/or hit you over the head. They pry open trunks. One time some poor unsuspecting Swiss set up camp in the Beach park across the street from the DZ. They put away all their gear and went for a swim. By the time they got back to their camp there was not a shred of their stuff left! That beach park across from the DZ is local territory, and visitors are not safe! Also, if you happen by the harbor be sure to take with you a huge 10 lb. bag of cat food and a couple tins and a couple gallons of water. There are > 30 cats who reside among the rocks along the jettie/breakwater. I used to make >30 piles of food and fill > 20 tins of water, well wedged among the rocks so neither they nor the winds knocked them over, every day for them. The locals catch the kitties, cut them up, and use them for fishing bait! Take one home with you! The only draw back to the DZ is the strong trade winds & their effect when hitting and rolling off the damned iron wood trees along the road between the beach and the DZ. They make a real turbulent line that covers so much of the DZ. We always wanted to have them taken out by a local for 1000 bucks, but since they are on state property and the state and FAA nor the gliders at the other end like the skydivers, if something suddenly happened to the trees we would have of course looked quite culpable. Even the tandems have to hook it to penetrate the wind sheer from the trees. You do learn how to land going backwards there. But it's all worth it for the view and getting to fly over the ocean where the humpback whales hang out by the wash rock about 50 feet off the shore just Haleiwa side of the DZ! There is a shark down there about 10 feet under just in the breakers who has his own gear shop. He has parachutes, containers, sunglasses, perscription glasses, cameras, helmets, altimeters, audible altimeters, skydiving toys, tubes, shoes, hats, airplanes, jumpers, and even pilots for sale or rent. We always imagined him kickin' back in the reef with a reefer behind his skydiving stand. Aloha my Friends! Annie
  15. Hey, Bobsled is the greatest! He's my personal hero! Stayed up past 3 AM West Coast time just to help me out! What a guy! If I ever meet him I will definitely stand real close and give him a big hug and a kiss (on the cheek)!
  16. Quick!.... Somebody get the hot tar and feathers!
  17. Just for my buddy pen pal Cary Kramer, since I can't seem to reply with any photos of myself maybe I can attach them here, Good luck with your USF ROTC, you lucky guy! Be a good soldier and stand up straight! Gee, getting to fly all paid for by the government, what a great gig!
  18. I just had to laugh when I read that! You sound so eager! Then I look over and see that puppy dog all happy faced, and I just want to pat you on the head, give you a bone, and make your tail wag!
  19. Yeah, sooo.... What does any refeneces to pedophelia have to do with giving me a hug? I know I may look sooo young, but that's no reason not to give me a hug and some lovin' I'm soooo cooollllddd! I need some warmth from Y'all! Come on, give it a try! I don't bite, at least not that hard at first, unless you're into that kind-a-thing!
  20. Say, Michele, If you have only 82 jumps, what are you giving me shit for? I've got almost 17 years in the sport and over 3000 jumps, plenty of big ways World records. etc... That's great, but let's try to keep the thread civil.
  21. What's forum rule #2 and why would that be an issue? I'm a loveable sort, worthy or as much love and hugs as any other, non? Why was it OK to love on others? Meee tooo! I want hugs and kisses (on the cheek mind you) too!!!!! I am so cold and lonely and in need of some love? It's soooo cold up here in the mountains with no heat or power, and the generator is half full, well, as the engineers put it, the generator is just too big!
  22. I can relate, so can Mr. Jackson I'm sure!
  23. Yeah, let that be a lesson to all you "Wendys" out there to keep your muffs off my Peter Pan! By the way, since my sense of humor seems to elude so many, I just want to make sure y'all know that was a joke, Ha Ha! Hey Murphy, get the shovel, it's liable to get deep in here!
